Its right, now saregamapa is called as Saregamapa Challenge 2009 (I guess, its because the grand finale will be in 2009). The auditions for Saregamapa were held nationwide as well as internationally. The audition episodes are going to be telecated on this Friday and Saturday and The Vishwayudhya 2 is going to start from 28th June. Zee TV already started showing promos of Saregamapa where Himesh Reshammiya is promoting his Rock Gharana.

This season, however, there are some changes in judges panel. Himesh Reshammiya is the only known face from the last season, but this time you will see Himesh Reshammiya in his Karzzzz style (why 4 z?) without cap and with implanted hairs!

Adesh Shrivastava who was part of first season, is now back to Zee. The sad news is that Vishal shekhar are no longer with Zee and they are replaced with Shankar Mahadevan and Pritam. Aditya Narayan, the heart throb of millions, who debuted in last season, is going to host the show.

Ismail Darbar comes from a family of four generation musicians. Ismail Darbar was born to noted clarinet and saxophone player Husain. Ismail was initially trained by his father. He also learnt how to play violin. Afterwards he learnt music from Pandit Ramprasad Sharma, the late father of composer Pyarelal and later on from Ganesh (Pandit’s son), who scored music in the ’60s and ’70s for films like Ek Nanhi Munni Ladki Thi, Ek Nari Do Roop.

Industry Struggle

Before stepping into the commercial world of filmi music he did the title-track of a TV serial and an album with Zee Music, neither of which saw the light of day. An exponent of the violin, he worked for nine years as a session violist for leading music directors Laxmikant Pyarelal, Kalyanji Anandji, Bappi Lahiri, Rajesh Roshan, Anand-Milind, Nadeem-Shravan, Jatin-Lalit and even A.R.Rahman. Lady luck’s shine increased on Ismail Darbar when he met director Sanjay Leela Bhansali(ismail was recommended by the singer Kunal), for whose film Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, he composed the music. With the director’s keen ear for music, the result, was sheer magic! Filmgoers were astonished by the exemplary quality, melody and originality of the musical score.

Himesh started his career with a production house which aired quite a few TV soaps on Doordarshan Ahmedabad and Zee TV. Early in his career, he received critical acclaim for his musical scores, although the films associated with them were not popular at the box office. His first film as music director was Bandhan (1998), in which he collaborated with Anand Raj Anand to produce the musical score. Although it was not the first film to which he contributed music, it was the first one on which he was listed as a contributing music director.

Music direction career

Himesh Reshammiya was first noticed in Bollywood for his work in the film Pyar Kiya To Darna Kya (1998). He became good friends with Salman Khan, a famous Bollywood actor who starred in the film, and composed songs for some subsequent film in which Salman starred. Reshammiya soon developed his own unique style of composition, based on pop music and catchy techno beats. He also places a particular emphasis on melodic hooks to his songs. His most popular albums can be said to be Tere Naam and Aashiq Banaya Aapne. With a series of popular film scores, he is considered one of the upcoming music composers in Indian cinema today. His music is associated with the youthful culture that has recently been pervasive in India, but he has also shown versatility, focusing on a more classical style for films such as Banaras: A Mystic Love Story and semi-classical like Tere Naam. As of 2006 he is the top composer of this year. It is reported that Dil Diya Hai represented Himesh’s tiredness as his music has not been quite top charting as it used to be. The media has advised Himesh to cut down work as he is working on 30-35 films (equivalent to half the films released in Bollywood in one year). In 2006, Himesh had well over 36 hit tracks in a single calender year. He also became the first Indian to perform at the Wembley Arena. 2007 was the return of Himesh Reshammiya with three soundtracks Red : the dark side, Namastey London and ShakaLaka Boom Boom. All three films have chart busting songs Afreen Tera Chera, Aamin, Chakna Chakna, Rafta Rafta, Shaka Laka Boom Boom, Dil Laageyenge and many more. His new album Good Boy Bad Boy is also rocking and is anticipated to top charts considering its aggressive promotion by Subhash Ghai. Next would be his own filem Aap Ka Soorror which already has one great track “Assalaam Vaalekum”

Recently, Himesh has been in the news for controversial remarks and comments made regarding notable and popular musicians of the past. Himesh has also been heavily criticized for using what many consider repetitive music.

Acting

Himesh Reshammiya will score the music and make his film debut in Aap Ka Suroor – The Real Love Story, a movie on his life which will be filmed in Germany’s state of Hesse in March 2007. Shooting will take place in Heppenheim in Bergstraße County District[3]. This movie is scheduled for release in July 2007, The original release date is 29th june 2007

He was especially very popular in the 1980′s with films like Disco Dancer, Namak Halal among others.

Early Years

Bappi Lahiri was born in Calcutta, West Bengal into a family with a rich tradition in classical music. His father, Aparesh Lahiri was a famous Bengali singer and his mother, Bansari Lahiri was a musician and a singer who was well-versed in classical music and Shyama Sangeet. He began to play the tabla at the tender age of three.

Hindi Films

Bappida bagged his first opportunity in a Bengali film, Daadu (1972) at the age of 19. The same year, he came to Mumbai and bagged his first hindi film, Nanha Shikari. The turning point of his career was Shomu Mukherjee’s Hindi film, Zakhmee, for which he composed music and doubled as a playback singer. He himself sung a duet with Mohammed Rafi and Kishore Kumar called Nothing is Impossible for the same film. The songs of his next film, Chalte Chalte, became a rage. With Ravikant Nagaich’s Surakshaa, his singing and music became even more popular.

Current Status

In 2004, he brought out his album ‘Bappi Magic – The Asli Baap Mix’, featuring popular numbers such as Gori Hai Kalaiyan and Jimmy Jimmy, all remixed in the trademark Bappi style. It attained great popularity. In 2005, he composed the background score for the Jahnu Barua film, Maine Gandhi Ko Nahin Maara, thus reaffirming his identity as a very versatile composer. In 2006, he lent his voice to another composer for the first time. The song was Boombai Nagariya which he sang for Vishal-Shekhar for the movie Taxi Number 9211. The song turned out to be an instant hit due to Bappi’s singing and the musical arrangement. Of late, he has once again lent his voice to the title track of the film ‘Guru’, in which the music has been composed by A.R.Rahman. He has also recorded songs for the movie ‘Level Crossing’ produced by actor Jayaprada.

Singer

Bappi lahiri also does back singing for his compositions. Though his voice sounds quite different from the typical Indian voice, it is considered melodious.

Some of the memorable songs that he has sung are:

 * Rahi Hu Mein (Wanted)
* Tu Mujhe Jaan Se Bhi Pyaraa hai (Wardat)
* Bambai Se Aaya mera Dost ( Aap ki khatir)
* Yaad Aa Raha Hai (Disco Dancer)
* Super Dancer (Dance Dance)
* Jeena Bhi Kya Hai Jeena (Kasam Paida Karne Wale Ki)
* Tera Mera Pehla Yaarana (Shart)
* Raat Baaki (Namak Halal)
* Yaar Bina Chain Kaha Re (Saheb)
* Bambai Nagariya (Taxi No 9211)
