There is a voice over which says, even after possessing so much talent, Pratibha got eliminated along with her mentor Shankar Mahadevan..
The show begins with Aditya welcomes Pt. Hariprasad Chaurasiya and Shri Jagjith Singh.. Aditya and all the contestants take blessings from Panditji and Jagjith Singh..
Jagjith Singh – I am so happy to be here and we wait when we will be called for this show.. It is nice to share this honour with Panditji..
Hariji – Thank you for inviting me here.. I am feeling very proud to be here and I am also happy to see all the youngsters who have come here to enjoy this classical music.
Aditya asks what can be done to promote classical music?
Jagjit Singh – Please support such music.. Media should take steps to promote them.. But these days we dont see such shows any where.. If media doesn’t promote, then the youngsters can never hear such music..
Hariji – If we dont show this music to others, then its not possible for them to hear.. So, we need to promote them properly..
First Round Theme - Classical and Semi-Classical songs.. Aditya says that today a contestant will sing a classical and semi-classical song from both golden era and current era..
Soumen is called on stage.. He sings Raag – Ahir Bhairav.. After singing a classical composition he sings Poocho na kaise.. MD – SD Burman and Singer – Manna Dey.. From the current era, he sings Albela Sajan aayo re.. MD – Ismail Darbar.
Comments:
Hariji – All the songs were good.. He asked which one did he prefer.. Soumen says he preferred the first one.. Hariji says, he also preferred the one and says every song was beautiful..
Jagjith – He appreciates his performance and gives a tip.. He says, You have problem with your low notes and so Kharach ka riyaaz karo..
Pritam – Very good performance.. History
Himesh – There is only one mark difference between 99 and 100.. You just have to cover that one percent.. I will give you history
Aadesh – This is Saregama history.. Forget the filmi songs.. Film songs cannot create historical performances.. This is remarkable performance.. People will remember this for years..

Yashita is called on stage.. She sings Raag Bhimpalasi.. She sings Naino mein badra chaaye.. MD – Madan Mohan.. Singer – Lata Mangeskar.. In the current era, She sings Tum mile dil khile.. MD – MM Kreem. Singer – Chitra..

Hariji – It is important that you do your riyaaz with the Tanpura.. You were going off sur at many places..
Jagjith Sing – Voice quality is good.. But everything else is a problem.. There is problem in your sur.. Do your riyaaz and You will be successful one day..
Himesh – She is a fabulous singer and absolutely deserves to be a winner.. In modern day singing, she will do very well.. I will give Superhit but I feel she should be there in the finals..
Aadesh – I am amazed.. You chose a difficult raag and you did well which is quite unusual to your genre.. History
Pritam – I am very proud of you.. We are looking for a playback singer in this contest from day one and I feel you have it in you to become a playback singer..

Hariji – You sang very well and with confidence.. It shows that you have practiced very well.. Hariji asks Vaishali what did you sing in the beginning.. Vaishali says its the Tarana.. Hariji says, you should know what you are singing..
Jagjit Singh – Fantastic, Mindblowing.. You and soumen are close to each other.. You should have kept a note low when you sing..
Aadesh – Very good.. Fantastic.. Jagjitji said what I have been telling you from day one.. You should keep a note low in your scale.. History
Pritam – As usual, history..
Himesh – You are undoubtedly the best.. I am asking to vote only for the best and Please vote for the best..

Hariji – You sang very well.. I enjoyed every minute of it..
Jagjit – I composed it in 1975.. He asks Soumen what is his age.. Soumen says 23.. Jagjit says I was just like you when I composed it.. You have tried to copy the same.. Very nice.. Hariji asks if you were 15 years when you composed it as you look like 50 now.. Jagjitji says, I am just 40 now..
Himesh – I feel there should be a male-female competition.. You have made me change my opinion today about female being a winner.. History
Pritam – I am considering myself lucky to be part of this show today.. Very good performance.. History
Aadesh – Aditya asks him if he would be there in the competition.. He says, I dont have to say it.. The audience understands music and they know what is a performance..

Hariji – As Aditya says today is elimination, Hariji says, Let many more come.. Dont let anyone go from here.. For Yashita he says, You sang from heart.. You sang with feel which was even better than the original..
Jagjit – Aaj bhagane ki zid na karo.. This was a better performance than the first one.. Some places you went off sur.. But you were good..
Aadesh – She is perfect for playback singer.. We got Shreya from this stage and I know she will do very well.. History
Himesh – You have a great voice.. If you sing with focus in this industry, you will go very far.. History
Pritam – You have a unique voice.. I am really proud that Yashita is in Dhoom gharana.. It is not important if we get eliminated or not.. It is important if you have proved yourself or not..

Results:
Topper of the week – Vaishali gets the sangeet chakra and thus becomes the first finalist of SRGMP Challenge 2009.
Himesh – You all have proved that she created history.. I would request that you vote for her if you like her..
Himesh says, there should be no elimination as Soumen and Vaishali deserves to be in the finals.. Aadesh and Pritam also agree to him and Pritam says, I would also like to include Pratibha in it as all 4 are very deserving.. But I am happy that all 3 will be in the finals..
Hariji – You cant have 1-2-3 in music as this is not a race.. All these singers are flowers of a garden and we cant rank them
Jagjitji – I am very happy to be here and it was good listening to such beautiful songs.. I also request that we have all 3 in the finals..
Aditya then announces that all 3 are through to the finals!!!

I think only one or two of them wanted Vaishali out because of Himesh as but not too many had an issue with Vaishali’s talent. It was Himesh’s tantrums that people were upset about and sincerely I felt Himesh was out of line on several levels. Anyways I am not here trying to defend anyone, looks like everyone can defend for themselves over here:-) I just found your logic of being happy and projecting yourself above anything and everything a bit amusing.

The moment mentally retarded Himesh started scraming “one girl will be the winner this year”, this is goinng to be his GHarana’s VAISHALI! No matter what kind of singer she is, just because HR wants it. I wonder if SAREGAMAPA show is sponsored by HIMESH or backed by any scary gang HR supports!!!
This show is no more an ideal place for tallent search, Final result is based on HIMESH RESHMMIYA’s wish!!! They should stop playing wiht PEOPLE’s heard earned money that they spend on SMS., also playing with tallented kids’ emotion is not very humane.
I fell pitty for VAISHALI, this girl could be loved by many but just because she was put into a manipulative pshychopath’s gharana, her victory is not welcome or cherished!!!
At the end of the day, Debojit, Pratibha and YASHITA will run in music industry. Aneek, VAISHALI will remain as Big JOKE like their mentor HIMESH RESHMMIYA is.

Today’s biggest loosers were Pratibha/Shankar. It was unfair to both of them to have no eliminations today when easily they could have had no eliminations last week as well. Last week all mentors should have made the same request of no eliminations during last week’s show, just like how they requested no eliminations today but instead should have asked for four finalists during last week’s show. It would have been a very ideal situation to have all four gharanas in the final with one contestant and mentor representing their gharana in their finals.
I agree. Pratibha should have been in the final. May be in place of Yashita.
I think you are missing the point that I was trying to make. I was saying it would have been nice to have representations from all gharanas in the finals and was not trying to say one was better over the other.

Saregamapa is shown on ZEE TV all over the world and u would be surprised to known how many people watch the same in Trinidad, West Indies. It’s a disgrace to have a Guru like Himesh. Over and over he is always quarelling. His blood is just under his skin. Why don’t he be like Adesh or Pretam. It’s disgusting to watch Himesh, Please don’t let Gurus be Judges.

dear Zee t v we are verymuch dispointed by the nature of the mentors behvior this really very ugly show which you say it is an entertaiment but it is fighting ring r u looking for talant or u r looking for siting boxer atually being an indian i feel really sory abot my ppls nature i was watching with my local friends and we all are very intrstingly watching the program sudenly himesh behavir is very chep looking because of his nature we really had to switch of the show

I believe that SAREGAMAPA has lost its top three singers – in my opinion Pratibha, Debojit, and Jaheer. The classical round has exposed the myth that the most popular participant is the best singer. We do that in politics and everyone knows what kind of leaders we elect. So, the most popular singer Vaishali having the intentions of joining the politics is not unusual.
It is so unfortunate that even after being such a popular music director Himesh behaves like a rude child. I like some of his songs but the way he behaves is very immature. I have to agree with Mani Kumar. His behaviour is slowly turning SAREGAMAPA into a pathetic comedy show.
Anyway, I lost my interest in the show for this year. Specially after the singer is decided by the votes of only a particular region and not the entire nation. I cannot understand why people have so regionalistic feelings. Now even participants and their mentors donot feel shame in asking votes on the regional basis. I can assure you that the winner of this year will be nowhere close to the Shreya Ghoshal’s that we have witnessed in past.
