Saregamapa Challenge 2009 written update – 2nd Jan 2009
Hello friends

Aditya begins the show by singing Krazzy 4 title song.. He then says, there are four left and one of the mentor will have to leave the show today.. And also adds all this will happen Rafta Rafta.. Dharmendra is shown driving a car and he is given a grand welcome with all dhol and band.. Aditya and other contestants perform on stage while Dharmendra enters the stage..
Aditya welcomes Dharmendra on stage.. While he enters his songs clipping are also shown.. He says, I never thought I would ever come here on a musical stag.. But I always follow Saregamapa whenever I get time.. I am so happy to see such talent in our country. He also adds that there is nothing to worry even if one looses in this stage.. “I had to struggle a lot to come here.. Dont worry, my love and prayers are always with you”..
Shankar says, on behalf of all the mentors we have a small token and requests all the mentors to accompany him on stage.. All mentors give him a memento..

Shankar – You were getting confused about which scale to choose as there were two different ones.. You were flat and sharp at various places.. Will give you superhit.
Pritam – I dont agree with Himesh.. She is confident as ever and trying something new.. Himesh says, innovative things shouldn’t disturb the confidence level.. Pritam says, It happens with everyone and I feel her confidence level is really good..
Aadesh – I felt you were not in the tempo.. Yashita accepts the fact and Aadesh says, As you have realized, I will give you history.
Yashita says, she would like to share a story with Dharamji.. My father was a singer and he sang for your movie, Jiyo Shaan Se.. You had invited him for next song but when a guy came to call, he had already passed away.. Dharam says, I do remember him but I didn’t know he passed away.. I am sorry for that and I will always pray for you..
Vaishali is called on stage.. She sings Mar Jawaan.. MD – Salim Suleiman. Singers – Salim Merchant and Shruti Pathak.

Shankar asks Dharamji to say few dialoges from the movie.. Dharamji says, “Few days back I met Shahrukh who said the tank dialog should become the official national anthem for bollywood..” He then renders the tank dialog of Sholay whole the scene is shown as a clipping.
Soumen asks to which actor of today does he relate himself?? He says, I see my imprints in Salman khan..

Aditya calls Debojit on stage.. Dharamji says, I asked about you also when I came here.. Debojit asks the mentos and Dharamji to join him on stage.. Shankar says, this is the last time we all will be seen together.. So, lets rock the stage..
Debojit sings Main jath yamla pagla deewana.. MD – RD Burman. Singer – Mohd. Rafi.. All the mentors sing along and Dharamji also sings few lines..

Results:
Aditya first announces that the topper of the week is Vaishali.. He then announces that there will be only 2 in the finale
Aditya keeps his hand on Pratibha’s shoulder.. So, thus Pratibha and Shankar get eliminated..
Shankar – You come from here to our studio and record a song with us.. So, thats very simple.. It was so wonderful to be here.. Thanks to Satishji, Aditya, all the mentors.. I am feeling bad for this girl..
Pratibha – I am so happy that I reached this stage.. She gets blessings from all the four mentors..
Aadesh says, This stage is very lucky so dont worry about it.. Pritam says, you are Krazzy 4 and We are also Krazzy 4 and we will take care of you.. Dont worry.
Aditya thanks Dharamji.. All hug each other and thus, the show comes to an end..
I am feeling really very sad for Pratibha
Unjustice Continues and Pratibha is the lastest victum
Among rest three, 2 alreayd won their regional titles and counter judges already screwed Yashita today, so Finale might be between two Winners!
I hope it wont happen and Yashita Would Win!
Thats such a shame that Pratibha got eliminated. Sa re ga ma pa should consider over ruling people votes. Have like 50% judge 50% vote. Bcos of some statewise voting, you end up losing such good talent. Not only that, losing Shankar Mahadevan as a result of this elimination is another big loss. He was the only one among the judges who used to give out good tips to the singers. Bad day for saregamapa:(
I think the right decision was made. Shankar Mahadevan and Shankar-Ehsan-Loy are big enough where they don’t need this. ZEE TV will never eliminate Himesh or Aadesh and Yashita is popular with the audience so Pritam gets to stay. Shankar was the odd man out.
I really want to talk about Asma. Do we really need Asma every week? She’s been eliminated so go away. After Mauli or Sumedha was eliminated in 2007 were they brought back like this? And they were much better singers than Asma. Please ZEE TV we will survive, we don’t need anymore Asma, the show will be fine without her.
I am sad that Shankar and Pratibha are gone. Especially Shankar Mahadevan. He was the best judge.

yea!!!! i was hoping that Pratibha would get out!! she was so annoying and i always felt like she was jealous of the other contestants. Everytime someone would be singing and the camera would go to her, she would have this concerned jealous face looking all around..and i feel like they pampered her too much and she wasnt even all that of a singer seriously very lame and typical nothing special, we already have a bunch of singers like her and we need new types and even Asma has a more unique voice than her, she should have been out a long time ago…and i love vaishali singing, it touches the heart and her singing is absolutley sincere and from her soul..so congrats to her!!btw, i do feel bad for shankar though, he was the most hilarious judge saregma ever had and he made the show very lively with his bright laughs, especially during the shahirees that all the judges would do..will truly miss him…and next week i hope soumen gets out!! his singing is so blah..the reason i like yashita is because shes upbeat n has somewhat of a different voice..i hope vaishali wins though!!
Pratibha was good enough to be in top 5, but she was never going to be the winner. She did not have the range or the tonal quality that Yashita or Vaishali has. I agree with most of you guys, it will wire down between Soumen and Vaishali simply because of Himesh Besharmiya.
I think Asma has a good on-screen presence and ZEE is exploiting that to keep the audience who would ogle her irrespective of her stupid acts.
I think Vaishali should win because she has the most soothing voice and afterall we listen to music to unwind ourselves.
PRATIBHA is BEST…………….
No body will watch this show if Pratibha is not there.
Bring her back…. she deserves to be best and she should be. She is BEST

In the entire competition from day one no one has been more versatile, consistent and multi-dimensional than Yashita and if you count all histories she received from all judges from day one I am pretty sure Yashita’s total will be way ahead than others.
Pratibha, Vaishali, Soumen, Debojit and Zaheer are all great singers and belong in the top 6. The only downside I see in them is that they are all single dimensional and have singular strengths, not really verstile.
There was another contestant who I thought was very verstile and was good at falseto like Yashita and that was Mitika Kanwar and I was very surprised with her elimination, I think she belongs in top 6 or 7 as well.
Vaishali has a great voice but is too one-dimensional. I am not sure her voice is suitable for modern era. Debo, Pratibha, Yashita & Asma have already done playback singing…something to give credence to. It is not Vaishali’s fault but I hate the fact that Himesh is going all out to make her win at the cost of others by praising her more than required and also uses her husband’s illness in his conversations which should never be brought up because it is not related to competition. The fact remains that he used Pratibha to do play-back for him when he had Vaishali at his disposal from his own gharana….double standard? Again no fault of Vaishali. Himesh is a real drama queen in my opinion.
The judges did the same with Debo initially by praising him more than required and Debo had some real mediocre performances in the middle of the competition.
Just my 2 cents..
As far as I can count from this site Vaishali has been marked below history only twice (maybe 3 times), that too not by all judges – you can check the tally. Yashita on the other hand has gotten below history on several occasions including last night, and most noticeably the weeks when Pratibha blew the field away. In all Pratibha has been way more versatile than Yashita and at least as consistent, though Vaishali has been the most consistent. Just look at the songs Pratibha has sung – Rangeela Maro Dholna, Ghata Sawan Ki, Jawab Laga Re, Khatooba, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam and a lot of others – her range has been much wider than anybody’s, so I am not sure where the one-dimensional remark comes in for her.
If anything, Yashita has been more one-dimensional than all but Vaishali. Soumen too has performed at a much wider range than her. Whenever Yashita has tried something out of her comfort zone, more often than not she has received points for trying rather than succeeding (they all correspond with the “Superhits” that she received). Don’t get me wrong – in the “masti” type of songs she is the best contestant I have seen in a TV reality show, but that is about it. To explain things better, if you had Alka Yagnik as a judge, she would have slammed Yashita long back; Alka has a track record of disliking people who shine in Sunidhi-type of songs and not in the others, e.g. Sumitra in VOI.
I find Himesh obnoxious, and I am sure he doesn’t let Vaishali sing other types of songs, and that is the only reason I won’t root for Vaishali. Undeniably, though, Vaishali has NEVER sung badly.
It is a shame that Pratibha is out. By a process of elimination now I guess I will be supporting Yashita, not because she is the best but because:
1. She is outstanding in her specialty
2. She is a great human being – I remember the episode where they introduced the girl whose education Yashita had supported. It was quite obvious from Yashita’s discomfort that she did not want this fact known publicly.

i cant believe that prathiba is out thats really unfair to her even her Guru Shanker said ” I feel bad for this girl” Even Shanker thought its unfair but you know what Prathiba You already contract a song with Himesh and Shanker Got you in his Studio plus Pritam said he will take care of you. It should be a proud moment for you because none of other contestor have gotten this oppurtunity like you. I wish you the best luck may God Bless you and become the most famous singer.
who says yashita is versatile…..no way .she can sing only that hip hop like songs.And history says this kind of songs are only for certain period then no body listen those songs,If this is the case then Sunidhi would have been great singer than shreya ghosal…but it’s not.Therefore I think vaishali is versatile singer than Yashita,because she could sing every type of song(not necessary hip hop songs).So yashita is next to go..
There’s only one way to judge who is versatile – have all the singers sing the same song – a different song of a different genre per episode. THAT WOULD BE BORING….
Anyway, for me anyone who can crack a deeply classical song and/or sing Lata’s, Kishore’s, Rafis’ songs well is a pahunchee huee cheez.
In that, Vaishali stands way above the rest.And she can carry off hip hop well too…
I shocked to know that Pratibha got eliminated.
She deserver to be in top 3 .
Yashita is most electrifying ,dynamic and versatile singer than any body else in the competition.
I bet for Yashita !!!. She will be the winner .

The elimination of Pratibha was on account of lowest votes polled by her rather than deficiencies in her singing.The next could be Vaishali as the voting system is flawed and could be conveniently manipulated by the vested interests in favour of the performer of their choice.
Vaishali is no doubt the best talent in the show and is performing much much better than the other contestants but the monster of sms system ,a brainchild of some evil mind,can devour her.
Soumen is putting in his best effort in every performance and is quite impressive but his voice lacks depth. Yashita is versatile but not consistent in her performances.Vaishili is more melodious and a trained singer.There is possibility that the finale could be between Vaishali and Yashita.As per the present trends Vaishali is likely to triumph in finals.
I expected some popular songs from Darmendra’s films like ‘aankhen’–ghairon pe karam apnon pe sitam—(for yashita) and anpad’s– aap ki nazron ne samja pyar ke qabil muje–(for pratibha)even Soumen could have been given a soulful number from film ‘aap ki parchhaiyan’—main nighahen tere chehre se hataaoon kaise– .Vaishali no doubt was given the best song composed by Laxmikant-Pyarelal and she could have performed better.
We will miss Shankar -a gem of a man -honest and jovial.Preetam is also a jolly good man.
Soumen is likely to be eliminated on next Friday but SMS voting could throw up some surprises.
Vaishali did not sing Koi shahari babu well at all. The original song is much faster. I understand it is hard to sing Ashaji’s songs. It has masti sur and she can jump around so easily. Vaishali needs to get trained.
This all happening just because of Ba***** Himesh..he wants his Gharana to win..can anyone go and kill him? as i’m not in India..

At least the numbers should back up what I said in my earlier e-mail. I have been trying to see who was consistent from day one and my personal take has been that Yashita was consistent from day one. Unfortunately we do not have written updates prior to Oct 17′th to back my take without a doubt. But this tally should at least back up my take to some extent. Especially in the earlier rounds Debo, Soumen and Vaishali where all over the place especially Debo. Pratibha was pretty consistent in the beginning, she faltered due to breathing issues occasionally.
One more interesting thing I found out was that from Oct 17′th to 26′th Dec Debo was on par with Yashita…see below tally.

So you think that whatever judges say is right. So Asma is a great singer. How many times did she get history? Did she sing better than anybody in this compitition, even once?
I have a fair amount of respect for the judges opinions, especially Shankar and Pritam. I don’t respect Pritam professionally however because from what I heard he lifts songs but personally he seems very genuine. I feel Adesh is all right, a great drummer but as far as music composition he is ok. Himesh is a show-boat, however is somewhat talented because he is multi-faceted and that aspect cannot be ignored. Shankar is the real deal of all, genuinely talented.
No, Asma does not belong in top 10 and she received histories only once or twice from the judges to my knowledge. My personal opinion is that she did not deserve to come back…she does not belong in even the top 20.
I am sad that Shankar and Pratibha are gone. Especially for Shankar Mahadevan,he is the best judge among them.also pratibha is doing well…but unfortunate……..

Well, my opinion is that Shankar is the best judge amongst them all and also a very very good singer. Pratibha is a very good singer but her breathing problem tends to keep her back. I really think Vaishali should win, she sings very very sweet. Yashita is a good performer and sings certain songs very good but cannot compare with Vaishali. Be fair and vote for the one that deserves it thorugh talent perspective.
In fact, I came to know about Pratibha’s elimination on Dec 31, hence I DID NOT watch Jan 2 and jan 3 shows. I lost interest in the show
