I have a question for viewers. I watched this episode couple of times and made me really think. In this classical round, Soumen was really extraordinary with his singing, I felt he was much better than Vaishali and Yashita was a distant third. But there were many days when Soumen sounded ordinary when singing filmi songs. When it comes to modern songs and usage of rap etc. in songs no one came close to Yashita, Soumen and Vaishali fade away in comparision in that regard. I am not an expert at music. I keep hearing that classical training is the base but if that is the case why Soumen and Vaishali who were much better than Yashita yesterday are no match for her in modern singing. Honestly I am a bit confused and trying to understand. I will admit that there are modern songs that I enjoy on many days and on the same token when I hear some classical songs like what was sung last night I enjoy as well even though I have no clue of ragas…all that matters to me as a listener is how much I enjoyed listening a particular song. Is each type of music different and classical singing is not true test of everything? Can a Jagjit Singh ji be a good rapper just because he has a classical music base or is rapping type of music a talent in itself and should not be trivialized? I felt Zaheer was a good rapper and sang Qawaali very well…so is each music form different and everyone has their own strengths? Just trying to find some true music answers instead of partial opinions or views about contestants.
I think natural talent is more important than training. Vaishali is not trained in classical music. She said she could not afford a guru. But still she did good job in classical round. On the other hand I think Yashita’s mother once said that yashita is classically trained. She still did a very bad job. Shoumen I think is trained.
Hello JH
You had some very interesting points. Here’s what I think
It is impossible for one artist to do everything and be successful.
Sunidhi Chauhan is prime example. She can sing Modern much like Yashita but listen to her sing anything outside her comfort zone and you cringe.
Classical singers have their own forte as do Rap and R&B people. It’s like comparing chalk and cheese.
When a music director selects an artist for a song he/she will do so on the basis for the strength of the singer.
Ustad Rashid Khan for classical, Sukhvinder for rustic songs and Udit Narayan for mellow songs.
Just because they do one genre well doesn’t really mean anything in itself.
Ustad Rashid Khan Saheb is amazing but can you imagine him doing a rap album… that’s my point… everyone cannot do everything.
All these artists are here to show what they do well. This demonstration will get them selected for songs of their calibre…
As for your taste, you cannot eat pizza everyday for a year nor Dhal Chawal… life is fun with every flavour in your plate! Music is subjective and music is life itself! Everyone has a say and that’s life isn’t it?
That’s my opinion… peace to you!
I think your reply is bringing some more light to my thinking and is validating some of my thoughts which have been brewing since yesterday’s show. I have sort of come to the conclusion that no form of music should be trivialized and on the same token one cannot trivialize strengths of singers on the basis of trying to project one form of music(classic, rock, rap, metal, r&b, soul, country etc.) to be superior over other. That also leads to more questions however, so how much truly are these competitions indicative of judging real talent? Shouldn’t each competition have an objective of what is being judged (versatality, classical singing, modern songs, tonal quality, etc.)? Should these singing competitions be music genre oriented(classical singing competion, western music, rap etc.) rather than anything goes type? If competitions are looking for versatality then no one should be eliminated after top 12 or 15 are decided but instead each week’s show should be a test of unique genre and then the one polling the maximum votes after the singing of all genres are completed should be the winner which is the true indicator of versatality. Anyways, just my thoughts…may not mean much to all. Pratima, thanks for your reply…I think what you are talking does calrify lot of my thinking and you truly understood where I was coming from.
Jagjeet Singh will not be able to sing Rap songs (is that type of some singing?). Yashita is definitely a superior hip gyrater and Vaishali or Shoumen will never be able to grasp that technique in their life time. But one fact remains true and that is all these western rhytemic tunes have a very short life span. In couple of years no one will even remember them. While the beautifull classical renditions and melodious songs baded on classical ragas have been around for centruies. People still humm those tunes. it is also proven at Harvard University in USA that Indian Classical music improves irregular heart beats. Shouting and screaming that western style uses is bad for ears.
hr thinks he is over smart.thats it …..
i pray god his gharana shouldnt win ,and i would like to request zee tv dont hire him again other wise zee lose lots of viewer because of him ….hr is bit crack…
i respect pritam ,adesh and sankar they r very decent and fantastic in there behavour….
it’s quite unfortunate when such talented singers seem to lose their focus…i admire vaishali and the immense talent she has cannot be denied in any way…but what is this new thing that she’s pulling by saying she wants to be in politics that politics is her true dream…if that is truly what she desires she shouldn’t have been on sa re ga ma pa…the only thing she is doing is taking opportunities away from others who truly want to become singers and that would be their life’s dream…i don’t care how her life was…yes she had to struggle and trust me so does everyone in this world..i know first hand and believe me i can write a novel about the setbacks and hardships in my life but i have moved forward…and also does that mean that people who have been well off are not deserving of the winner title…this is completely unacceptable…we are looking at their singing talent and for a wonderful singer…i could care less if the winner is an average, rich, poor, smart or stupid at the end of the day i would not waste my money to buy cds of singers who are not worth it….she is a good singer and should focus on that if she’s not interested she should really stop playing and give others the opportunity to shine…
oh yeah also are u stupid or something….we are all from india it shouldn’t matter what part…it’s ppl like u who have no idea what’s going on in the first place and make stupid assumption…making an ass of u and me..lol…i don’t think anyone cared that he spoke in marathi it was just that he’s much more powerful than someone like mithunji…i mean seriously no one cares what he has to say….that was the point it was never abt what language they spoke…so shut it
I agree. He is even a bigger politician than Himesh and a frustrated out of work MD and Pritam needs english language dictionary. He does not know the meaning of versatile.
Hey ! You can’t say that Pritam doesn’t know meaning of versality becoz all his tunes he has stolen from english songs I can say near abt ALL… He has stolen some arebic songs also as he don’t know both the languages…..This is also a kind of Versality..
Pratibha would have killed this episode..so would have shujat from pakistan…this episode was designed for vaishali to emerge as the better one..himesh earns my shitlist as always..
I’m glad that you said it. That was truly a masterpiece by any stretch of imagination. I think Soumen has some breathing problems and that is true with Vaishali to a lesser extent. I fail to imagine, if Yashita has any control over her breath. It is true that modern singing doesnot require such an extensive training as it was in the past. But that is also due to the fact that we have very talented music directors such as Himesh Besharmiya unlike the GREAT Pancham in the past. When Pancham used to compose music, he used to challenge the singers to improvise. Anyway, anyone who really enjoys music would appreciate Ghazal and classical songs once in a while.
we started hating the show b/c of Himesh stupidity and EGGO…. so, please get rid of him from the next sa re ga ma pa, else we will not be watching this program. This program should be like the one which was anchored by Sonu Nigam.
hi to saregamian
after watching this week episode i personally think that vishali is the best, shoumen better and yashita is good
few other things that i think should not be repeat in next saregama
1st no hemish becouse its enough for him as he starts politics among the mentors and singers
2nd the grade level should not be like this ……… history ect
3rd the mentor should be great musician like A R REHMAN,ANAND MILIND,and SHANKER MAHADEV much more mature musician then this year musician
i am saying all this becuase if u notice this year show then u ll find that if one mentors says its history then others follow him so this should not be repeated and all these are classically not good enough
so saregamapa viewers and the team of saregama do think about this because we all love saregama and wana see an exellent show next year
Pls someone give money 2 pritam 2 cut his hair and d extra garbage he carries….and make him drink some olive oil so that he speaks with a proper flow before he gives his comments….as far as Himesh(the fake hair man)tell him 2 look in his own self first b4 making comments…
You are right like preetam pooran his hair also needs gets pooran needs to cut Z tv is not paying him for his long pending shaving. and he needs over oiling in the throught so ppl can understands what he wants to say exactly. HR is yes fake hair guy with fake smile, fake expressions and fake foolto comments.
Missing Shankarji. Pratibha would have done great in this round. Although I like Vaishali, but Shoumen rocked in this episode; and Yashita failed miserably. Himesh will never learn to keep quiet. Will he ever listen? I hope the BEST wins.
I was not born in a Marathi family but I can read/ speak Marathi fluently and I am proud to call myself a Maharashtrain. You should know Marathi to actually understand Raj’s point.
It is futile to explain to Non-Marathi speaking people on what Raj is trying to say.
I support Vaishali not because she is a Marathi or because she is from Maharashtra. But just because I like her singing.
Hey Senty / Doc are you still active on this forum.
@Vijay
Good to see you. Thanks for asking !
I havent been watching the show since Asma was voted off only to be brought back as co-Adi!
So I’m not involved in this forum as much. I do read the comments and catch some not-to-miss nautankis and some soulful singing that get discussed here.
We da oldtimers!!.. some are left.. Mehfil the dude reads but no comments.. Senty u know.. Basit Bhai comes once in a blue moon.. Anon has his usual riveting rants..Rajdeep is on occassionaly
Vaishali she already got top vote from the public in second finali round or episode,So next round must be compitition between Soumen and Yashita.Saregamapa if you are real Saregamapa you must need to do fiare job.Vaishali she already came in the finali round.
Vaishali,God bless you and the people who love
music yaaneki, geet sangeet they will recocnized
you and they will vote to you.thanks to all who support to Vaishali.thanks again,
Need to ask? Yashita was an embarrasment in and out. Terrible singing and shame on the judges for supporting her even after such an abysmal performance. I am convinced she never picked up a taanpura!! Aadesh says hats off to you???? Man these people are out of there mind.
Yashita was an embarrasment in and out. Terrible singing and shame on the judges for supporting her even after such an abysmal performance. I am convinced she never picked up a taanpura!! Aadesh says hats off to you???? Man these people are out of there mind.
u r right. she prooved herself very poor in classical singing by loosing Sur in front of great Jagjeet jee and Hari jee. Jusges just palying as a jockers. sometimes fighting and some times agreeing to each other . they thinks that public is stupid.
This year’s Ghazal Session was a total disaster.2007 PROGRAM ,TOUCHED THE SOUL,Amanat,Raja,Mussarat,Poonam, they created an atmosphere which i still feel.
HOUSTON.
Vaishali became the Mahagayika of Marathi Saregamapa in 2007. At that time she did not have any classical training at all. When Shankar Mahadevan was the guest judge there, he sang Mitwa song and sang sargam bols and asked the contestants to repeat after him. Sayali Panse, Anirudh Joshi and Chaitanya repeated the same bols but Vaishali could not do it. She just sang lalalalaaa with the same surs. I narrated this to prove that at that time she did not have any classical training. But after winning the competition, she started taking classical training from Mr. Pohankar. So, her classical background is very limited and new. Considering that, she sang tarana pretty good if not best. With more rigourous training she will improve a lot for sure.
Yashita however is totally ill at ease with Indian Classical. Her gazal was also listless and too slow. She can sing only western songs.
Hellow guys hope you are doing fine. Now let’s compare Yashita’s performance of the song “Naino me Badra Chhye” with this one (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mfETcAQWsO0) use the link in bracket I do not know the name og that amazing female artist and listen to that powerful performance this video is a self explanatory. Probably Yashita would also loves to see that one.
Yashita…please listen “Aaj Jane ki jidd na karo” sung by Aishwrya Mamundar of Gujarat who won SVOI last year. Me to yumhe itna hi kahunga ki Aaj gaane ji jidd na karo.
I just have to say one thing.
Himesh Reshamiya is just like an empty vessel that makes too much noise but is empty within. The way he projects himself and his gharana is nothing but disadvantage to Vaishali. His true colors are just coming out, he was controling himself till the top 4 finalists have been decided. Man this guy should be outcase from bollywood and society. Totally unethical, rude loud noisy.
If you guyz remember on the day Aasma was eliminated, he mocked at her saying “Sabko pata hai iski picture Ooth ko danda kisne maara kaisi film kaisi hogi” all his fimls are just pile of shit.
Iv never hated anyone so much as him. Its not personal but its just his character is shitty.
