Saregamapa Challenge 2009 Written Update – 1st November

Hello Friends

Today is qawalli episode and Shafqat Amanat Ali came as a guest for promoting Tabeer, his new album.. You can check about Tabeer in melody junction blog - http://melodyjuction.wordpress.com/2008/10/10/tabeer-new-album-of-shafqat/

The set is arranged like a Qawalli Mehfil.. The show begins with contestants singing Raaz ki baat kehdo toh.. Aditya enters the stage and sings Jhoota hain tera waada.. Aditya talks about Qawalli and says, today its a competition between boys and girls.. So, lets see who wins..

Performance by Contestants

Soumen of Jai Ho gharana is first called on stage and he sings Parda hain Parda.. MD – Laxmikant-Pyarelal.. Singer – Mohd. Rafi. Pratibha is shown while he performs..

Comments:

Shankar – Soumen, you are back.. Fantastic.. History

Himesh – I will give you superhit.. You could have done a little better..

Pritam – I loved it.. History

Aadesh – Mindblowing.. Expectations are high from you so you could have done better..

Pratibha is called on stage to perform.. Aditya asks Pratibha what is the brightness in your face.. She says, you said a Shayari, but I cannot so I will sing and tell you.. She sings Nigahein milane ko ji chahta hain.. MD – Roshan.. Singer – Asha Bhosle

Himesh – Ada bahut acchi lagi.. It was as if we are listening to a recording.. Superb, Fantastic, Outstading, Mindblowing.. History

Aadesh – You sang very well.. History

Pratibha – Superb Pratibha.. You were very good.. Superb

Shankar – Very good.. We enjoyed the performance.. This is a request to all the contestants to increase the focus.. Its going to be a tough battle ahead.. I will be strict from now on and will give history only if its a superb performance..

Vaishali is called on stage.. Aditya asks her what is moment you are waiting for.. Vaishali says, Hope my husband gets cured soon and sing along with me.. Vaishali sings der na ho jaaye.. MD – Rravindra Jain.. Singers – lata and Suresh Wadkar

Pritam – Very good.. History

Aadesh – The end is very difficult and loved it.. History

Shankar – The harkat you had taken in the song was very good.. Felt like we were hearing a saaz.. History

Himesh – I am feeling very proud of you.. Your performances always show that you love your husband a lot..

The mentors have a little fun saying shayri..

Sara is called on stage.. Aditya says, Sara always tells shayri and asks her to say one.. She tells one and sings Allah, yeh ada kaisi in haseeno mein.. Singers – Lata and Asha Bhosle.. MD – Laxmikant – Pyaarelal..

Comments:

Pritam – It is not your best performance.. There was no control over the song and you were also offsur.. Superhit

Aadesh – You created a good environment but you were off sur.. Superhit

Shankar – The USP of the song is the harkatein which gives the essence for this qawalli.. You need to work on that..

Sara, you have to work very hard and the expectations are very high from you.. Superhit

Debojit is called on stage and Aditya asks your love life is in news these days.. Do you still love your old Simran?? He says, others are just attraction and he will always love his Simran.. He sings Ae mere zoharjabeen.. MD – Ravi.. Singers – Manna dey

Himesh – I was the one to give you the title – Sau ko pachadne waala Debojit.. Historic performance.. Himesh asks, what are you thinking of right now?? Which Simran?? Debojit says, I am thinking of only, Simran of city college, Calcutta.. He gives him history.

Shankar – This song must have a feel in the song and .. History

Aadesh – You sang very well.. History

Debojit tells a shayri and the mentors have little fun with their own dialogues..

Aadesh – Except for sargam, there is nothing much great about this song.. but you did very well.. History

Yashita is called on stage and Aditya .. She sings Ah sajna, akhiyaan udeeth diyaan.. MD and Singer – Nustat Fateh Ali Khan.

Comments:

Himesh – It was a very different song and you did really well.. History

Shankar – Just take a voth that You were not confident this time.. Unless and until you are confident, do not enter the stage.. Superhit

Aadesh – This is the first time I am giving you superhit.. Superhit

Pritam – Her performance was little low because, she was thinking of introducing a rap in between but it didnt fit  with the song.. Only at the end moment we removed it..

Shafqat Amanat Ali is is invited on stage.. Aditya says, his album Tabeer has been released.. Shafqat says, It was basically a sufi album, but we introduced other songs so a common man can understand.. Shankar says, he first heard Shafqat on radio and contacted him via the RJ.. Then Mitwa happened and he is an extremely talented singer.. Shafqat says, I really feel honoured because its tough to receive a praise from another singer who himself is a very good singer.. Shankar requests Shafqat to sing few lines of Mitwa.. Shafqat requests shankar to join him on stage.. They both sing Mitwa after which a clipping of Tabeer album is shown.. Shankar and Pritam congratulates him for the album..

Asma is called on stage.. She sings salaam-e-ishq meri jaan.. MD – RD Burman.. Singers – Lata and Mohd. Rafi..

Aadesh – You are a very good singer and your style is very good.. We will sing a duet.. Your improvement is drastic and just to boost your confidence, will give you history..

Pritam – Main deta tumhe history, Lekin mujhe gaana lagaa poetry.. You have to put in a little more effort.. Aadesh asks pritam to give history and he gives history

Shankar – You really surprised me.. History

Himesh – Everyone has given you history, so its time to tell shayri..

                      Quawalis this year were not as outstanding as last year. Debo, Vaishali and Pratibha were pretty good. Asma surprised with a good song choice. Yashita (one of my favourites) tried something different but it did not quite work out.

                          WAITING FOR PAKISTAN’S “A” TEAM
                          Fellow Indians, please do not underestimate the talent of Pakistan. They have only sent their B team, not their A team. Surely they have better singers than Amanat, Shafqat, Musarrat, Faraz, Zaheer, etc. I appeal to SRGMP’s Pakistani judges to send their “A” team next year if they have any hope of winning.

                          A little success went into the heads of Shafqat, Amanat, etc. They immediately broke their singing contract with the very people who gave them success. Amanat dissed Zee Tv and the Indian people – so now his fate is sealed.

                          Aneek was offered songs in many Bollywood movies but his father had him turn them down so that Aneek can focus on his studies. Before he came to SRGMP, Aneek had promised his parents that a singing career will not come at the cost of education. True Bengali. Bollywood and Pakistani fans can wait. He released an album instead which sounds terrific.
