Written Update for Saregamapa Challenge 2009 - 3rd October episode

Hello Friends

My name is Anuradha and I am blogging at http://melodyjuction.wordpress.com. The blog is for all music lovers.. You can find some rare music articles and discussions in this multi-author blog.. So, its a call for all music lovers to visit this blog..

Now, coming to the point - From now on I will be providing written updates for you all..

The show begins with Aditya and contestants singing rock on title song.. Guys are playing guitar, piano and drums.. Aditya announces that its festival time in India and along with Navratri, Eid and Diwali, Saregamapa has added a new festival which is the youth festival.. He announces that its about celebrating the dreams of the youth.. A tribute to Gandhiji is given by Aditya..

A maharaj enters the stage.. First there is a little bit of nok-jhok with Aditya where Aditya tries to find where is Maharaj.. Aditya then announces he has come on earth for listening to this vishwayudh.. He is the same Maharaj who is shown in saregamapa spotlight every saturday after the show.. A clipping of Saregamapa spotlight is shown..

Performance by top 3 contestants

Somen is called on stage as he owns the Sangeeth Chakra.. Somen is asked who performed well last week.. Somen says, 2 of them - Yashita and Debo.. Yashita is called on stage and is asked who she thinks could be number 1.. Between the lines is Pratibha and Yashita gets the sangeeth chakra for being the top votes gainer..

Yashita of Dhoom gharana sings hamma hamma from Bombay.. MD - AR Rehman.. Singer - Remo Fernandez

Himesh - Fantastic performance.. History.. You deserve to be a winner..

Shankar - There is no one who can sing with a confidence like you.. Mark - History

Aadesh - History

Pritam - I will always pray for you and if you keep singing this way, no one can stop you from being a winner..

Aditya says, Karz music is doing very well and is number 1 in charts.. Himesh replies that its number 1 in hindi charts, but Shankar’s rock on is doing very well at number 13 including the english songs.. he wishes that the album should soon be number 1..

Aditya announces that Mahendra Kapoor passed away on 29th September and saregamapa family pays tribute to him.. He is the best singer and human being.. He was a good friend of my father.. His songs will always remain with us.. The song that we will remember forever is Mere Desh ki Dharti.. The contestants, mentors and Aditya sing this song to pay tribute to Mahendra Kapoor..

Naina Saxena and Vaishali are called on stage to announce the second topper.. Vaishali is the second topper and Naina is between the lines..

Vaishali of Rock gharana sings char dino ka pyaar o rabba.. MD - Kamran ahmed.. Singer - Richa Sharma.

The audience ask for once more.. Himesh requests all the mentors to come on stage and join Vaishali.. So, they all join and sing the same song..

Shankar - From today onwards, a new chapter has begun for Vaishali.. He gives history

All mentors give history…

Somen and Debo are called on stage.. Debo is the third topper..

Debojit Dutta of Dhoom gharana sings Mast title song.. MD - Sandeep Chowta.. Singer - Sonu Nigam..

There is a clipping shown where all the guys speak against Debojit and Pritam accusing Pritam for favoring Debojit.. Faraz - I would like to ask Pritamji, why is so much hype given to Debo.. Zaheer - There is a problem in his diction which no one has mentioned.. All the guys say, the mentors shouldn’t be doing partiality on stage..

All the guys are called on stage and Aditya asks Pritam what he has to say about this.. Pritam asks Debojit to go away from the stage as he doesnt want to discuss this in front of him.. He is taken away from stage and Pritam speaks..

He asks the guys, have you ever felt lonely in school?? I would like to add something more.. There was a boy who inspite of knowing all answers, he never used to answer in oral exams.. He had an inferiority complex that he stammers and his friends tease him for that.. If not for his parents and teachers, he would have never come up in life.. I put some extra effort .. He pleades to the contestants not to make him feel that he is a special child..

Shankar - I would like to give standing ovation to Pritam..

Aadesh - You should be encouraging that child and not speak this away about him..

Himesh - Telling his own story on national television is something big..

All the guys ask apology to Pritam and Debojit’s mother.. After much drama, Himesh and Shankar announce that they are supporting girls while Aadesh and Pritam say that they support guys..

Shankar - This was weak compared to rest of your performances - Hit

Aadesh - Superhit

Himesh - You were not at ur best in this 5 minutes.. So, considering that you are a good singer, will give you Superhit..

Performance by bottom 3 contestants

Sara and Zaheer are called on stage.. They are asked what do they think of getting votes from Pakistan..

Sara - All are praying for me and also sending me votes..

Zaheer - I dont think I should be asking something from my house..

Zaheer is safe and Sara is in bottom..

Sara sings Its Rocking.. MD - Pritam.. Singer - Alisha Chenoi..

Aadesh - You sang very differently.. Superhit

Pritam - You enjoyed the song which I liked the most - Superhit

Himesh - Yours is a very different voice. He also wishes her Eid Mubarak.. Superhit.

Shankar - This type of songs suit you well.. You should be working on pitching but as Pritam said you enjoyed the song..

Sara sits in the red chair which belongs to bottom 3 contestants.. Sanjay is sitting there to welcome Sara..

Kaushik and Shujat are called on stage.. Sujat is in bottom 3..

Shujat sings Dil chahta hain title song.. MD - SEL. Singer - Shankar Mahadevan

Comments:

Himesh - I am ur biggest fan.. But today’s performance of yours was the weakest.. Hit

Shankar - This song has straight notes through out.. He sings few lines of the song.. Hit

Aadesh - You should never leave your sur.. Hit

Pritam - Its not time to prove versatility.. Just stick on to your genre..

Shujat sits on the red chair and Sanjay asks him to request Pakistan to vote for him.. Shujat says, its not only Pakistan which is his country.. He believes India is also his country..

Tarun, Asma and Faraz are called on stage.. Tarun and Asma are safe.. Faraz is in bottom 3..

Faraz sings channo ki aankh mein ek nasha hain.. Singer - Ali Zafar

Comments:

Shankar - I felt the power was less.. You should have let loose.. Superhit

Pritam - You sang well.. Superhit

Himesh - Superhit

Aadesh - There was nothing to sing much in this song to prove your calibre..

Sanjay welcomes Faraz in the bottom 3.. He says, the irony is all 3 contestants in bottom 3 are from Pakistan.. He requests the public to vote for them..

The bottom three contestants are called on stage.. Aditya keeps his hand on Faraz shoulder..

So, Faraz gets eliminated this week..

Faraz - There is nothing to speak.. If I had reached top 10, the next 10 years would be good for me.. When asked by Shankar why he feels so - Faraz replies - If we reach top 10, we will get shows and we will get financial help as well..

Shankar says, Your name has already been associated with SRGMP.. So, dont worry about that..

Asma comes on stage.. She starts crying and says, he always used help me..

Sara says - He is senior to me.. Is there anyway I can go instead of him? Shankar says, this is the show format and nothing can be done now..

Aadesh gives him assurance that he will do all that is possible whenever needed..

i don’t think there is anything wrong with him.
i think he probably just had no interest in anything as a child; neither did he have any friends. so his parents probably overindulged him in everything and catered to his every whim and fancy –> resulting in debojit dutta, the “special” child.
i doubt that no doctor in the world are able to diagnose his condition. sure he might have a mild condition but it seems to have been made worse by his parents!
sorry if i seem to be completely heartless here but dd is reallly annoying me; with what his ‘arz kiya hai’ blah blah etc. in singing he’s average. JUST average. nothing more than that. there are many others who deserve to be in here like manisha, sayon, arshad, shashi and sunvinder.
where has this show come to? from the gems of the previous decade to the awesome singers of c2007 to this mediocre bunch?
