By the way, we all have good chance to feature in her film because she needs one crore heros(thats what she mentioned). But what about villains?? I think our Dockaul eik crore heros pe bhari parain gai, aur agar koi kasar reh gai to apni Mehfil G to hain he… so go Asma ur film will be super duper hit. And yes! dont worry for the viewers, apne Himesh G hain na, u know Himesh g ke program ko 500 crore log dekhte hain…and ur in HR gharana so fiker ki koi zaroorat nahin, yeh block buster hone wala hai. je mata di, oh sorry, Je Asma di, lets rock…….

On a serious note, its a pity how much these reality shows can fall from grace! I would like to mention svoi here, produced & directed by Gajendra Singh. I was a great fan of him when he was doin the old srgm, that was pure music. I don’t know what has promted him to go other way i.e. to run for the money and that at the expense of his hard earned respect and real music?? If u had a chance to watch svoi, its really become pathetic. There are no good quality singers, they all r 2nd string of last year svoi who couldn’t be selected. Ooper se drama ki koshish ho rahi hai, I really feel sorry for Shan how he is making mockery of himself just to fulfil GS drama.
And I know why its happening to these shows because they are doin KHILWAD with music, and we know music is eternal thing so they have to suffer the fall from grace, and if they continued they will be humiliated… Kaash woh realize kar saken.
Enough said, dil ka ghubar nikal diya hai warna mein bhi Mehfil ki tarah r…. ho jata.

All is not lost ! Yes the elimination of Mitika & Faraaz defies commonsense & logic but there is hope still for some stunning performances by Zaheer , Yashita , Naina , Vaishali , etc.

To be honest with you.. i do not enjoy SVOI even a little bit.. they lipsync and thats the worst kind of coverup for their shortcomings.. that means the contestants are NOT good enough to sing on stage.. so all the “hard work” is done prior to the show with all the “high-tech” machinery they have..
i would rather see JKKDK again.. just to listen to good singing..
everybody said that this year show is not better than last year.

You may be right about good performances yet to come in top ten but i really disagree about Amanat Ali’s songs being good only after the top ten phase … Amanat nay atay hi aik say bhar kar aik performances di thi … at least in my opnion … his first performance … ‘mitwa’ itni zabardast that it had to be encored … ‘kadhi aa mil sanwal yaar way’ .. meekal hassan band’s song … probably second performance …
‘yeh hosla’ 3rd one … then ‘rasme ulfat’ 4th probably … next is ‘ya rabba de day koi jaan bhi agar, dilbar pe ho na dilbar pe koi asar’ … ‘humein tum say piyar kitna’ Lata ji’s composition song … ‘ae ajnabi’ from dil se … ‘khamaj’ from fuzon ….
and till now i havent even counted the top 3 level songs like ghazal’s round including albela sajan and hungama hai kion barpa throi see jo pee li hai etc.
I agree with Mehfil or Dockaul who said that until now no one has really captured our hearts like last year …
Sure Amanat ali might not be current playback singing voice but he was the sureeli voice in a singing competition … and that is what matters … the one who sings in sur and performs on stage … aaj kal ke softwares and pitch correctors say koi bhi lallu panju aa kar ga sakta hai, playback/recorded singing kar sakta hai … but LIVE performance imtihaan leti hai (doston ki jaan leti hai)…
And one more thing … Rafi and Kishore and Lata, when they came in the industry … poeple were saying the same things about them … “they are not playback singing voice” but look at them now …
Enough catharsis … agar meri koi baat buri lagi ho to meri taraf say maazrat …

Ofcourse, there is some serious talent in the pool right now. Its not a total wash-out.
Infact, the very first intro episode of this VY09 was the best episode so far in this season. Everyone gave a superhit to history performance and came on board with our expectations set really high. The entry of pakistan and overseas contestants did not have that impact. Faraz Butt was very strong. Others were so so.
So long as we are stuck with the weekly new movie releases driving the “rounds” and selection of songs, we are stuck with this low standard.
VOI has lipsync rounds on fridays and regular talent show on saturdays. This past saturday, the contestants came up with a medley of 3 songs each, 3 navraatri based, masti based numbers. It was -
bad choice of songs, lack of energy etc. It showed. she may get the boot this time.
1) something new
2) The contestants got to showcase some good singing talent,
3) Rithisha scored low
In srgmp Challenge07, Raja made a very strong impact as early as the mahaguru selection rounds when he was booted out and later he returned with a powerful “naina thag lenge” to reenter the competition into “ekalavya”.
Aneek’s introduction (as the Bangla winner) was mindblowing.
We had Amanat and Poonam who were consistent throughout the show. I totally agree with Jamshid about Amanat. Any/every song Amanat sang was top-class. Musarrat made a powerful entry with his intro song. I remember I followed these guys right from day one. Even Mauli and her maiyya maiyya had an appeal.
I have not been able to find that spark in any of the VY09 contestants. There is simply no connection yet.
But in VY09 there is hecka lot of talent. Singing as well as stand-up comedy
well said Senty … But till now i am waiting for the SRGMP show to take off with the latent talent (nice anagram btw!) pool … Zeetv walay bhaiyyo .. zara jaldi take-off kara deejiye .. nahi to sab ki flight miss ho jaye gi … aur log indian idol and VOI chale jaein gay …
And yes senty … you are right about Ritisha … she is not able to keep up … though i still think she is a good singer … Shraddha also disappointed in the encore performance … she really need to work on her breathing … or may be she has asthma like me :)…
The real comeback though is of Mallar … boy o boy … that guy can sing … saray SUR ‘tannn’ kar ke bullseye par lag rahe thay … Ravi Shukla really has improved … Rohit sunar going the other way … His performances are not what they used to be …

I am quite sure that if there was a little less drama, there was a chance for all the singers to give their best. But I guess this season, singing is taking the back seat.

Asma is planning a world tour to celebrate her success and to spread joy to millions of fans. It will be called the Asma Tour. Assisting her will be Mithika Kanwar and Sayon Chowdhari.
In a press release, Asha Bhonsle and Lata Mangeshkar said the they are passing the mantle to the next generation and naming Asma “the next great Indian hope” to save Indian culture and music.
Asma will give a special performance at Radio City Hall in NYC to thank her US-based fans (Dockaul, AgentX, Mehfil, Senty, Rajdeep, etc.) without whom Soumen might have won SRGMP.
what will happen AFTER the SHOW ? we shall all be executed ? public disgrace ? or if we seek pardon for our SINS and accepting that music is not our thingy, do we stand a chance ? koi Life line milaygi ?
You know what you are right, the above mentioned names deserve an even serious punishment, execution is too easy for them, they deserve a severe punishment, like chinese torture, where they will be forced to listen to all of the albums of the chinese nasal singer himesh reshmiya. in ONE GO, no food, no water, just the NASAL MUSIC ! and even if they survive that, she should make them eat NACHNI KHAKARAs, so that the know wrongly they perceive music and culture !

I got a mental HEATWAVE coming up with BRAINWAVE to hit you with. I do concur with you that we do not have any OUT OF THE ORDINARY performance till now from any of the contestant like last year’s, but I would like to state few facts to defend the poor contestants.
We have a nice bunch of 4/5 capable contestants who have the necessary ingredients to go far and provide us with exceptional experiences, namely Yashita, Zaheer, Pratibha and Shujaat since beginning, but I am sorry to say, we do NOT have those “gurus” who will bring the best out of them. As you see, last time we had ID and Vishal - Shekhar who worked indefatigably on their “gharana” contestants throughout the show to make them better. They knew what the contestants are singing and what their inadequacies are. Raja, Amanat, Sumedha, Poonam and Aneek “gradually” developed into what they were at the end. We SAW their development, giving one rocking performance after the other. Musarrat on the other hand was OUTSTANDING since the beginning, a self-developed GEM.
Now this time round, we LACK the effort of “gurus” in development of contestants. On top of that they are more concerned about their “own” well-being and dramatization of the show. I’m sure if they work with contestants, support the ORIGINAL talent and guide them thoroughly, we will have one hell of a competition.
I am certain though, that contestants I mentioned above are going to give us some rocking performances just like zaheer did this weekend. These SPARKS show that they have a VOLCANO inside them, somewhere waiting to be discovered.
As far as OWNING a contestant goes, I agree with you. Few have shown the SPARK but no one DESERVES to be owned and spoken as the ONE out of the lot.
The Only COMPLETE package right now is Asma (looks, acting, comedy, money, good nature, willing to work for future of children, making a film with “karor” heros, and chart breaking “nasal” style of singing, her “owned” sur, her “owned” taal, her “owned” octives, she is just a master-nie in disguise).. ASMA for the crown!!!!!!

I know what you are talking about bro, these shows have gone down in quality sharply, and all is due to money earning tactics. The “magarmach” which sponsor these shows are NOT interested in singing so I think they “force” themselves on the directors of shows to turn towards “drama” and “pity”. I hope someday we would turn back to those old golden days of saregama when Sonu use to host it.

I agree with ur TWO CENTS. svoi is really become pathetic, how on earth they lipsyn in reality show?? Yes, the obvious reason is that they can’t sing live, what a adisgrace..
Ur comments reminds us of 2007 blogger friend “$0.02 Worth” who was right on the money whenever he wrote and he was common favourite of us (Mehfil,Senty,Dockaul and some others).
So I have a suggession. Why not we rename you “Two Cents” in the memory of that nice person??

From the current lot of srgm, I see some hope in Zaheer,Yashita, Vaisali & Prhabita. They have shown flashes of brilliance and hope will come up with some really touching performances.
Among many curosities whats this drama of the four gurus of srgm that they are looking for an unconventional magical voice? SRGM 2007 got the revelation in the form of Mussarat, could there be any better uncoventional & magical voice than Mussarat from the two combined SRGM(2007&2009)??? If they have any sense of what they are looking for then there search must be over. Come on Shankar, take Mussarat and do the magic, enjoy the magic and give new hights to ur already proven magical music.
I still believe that no one can come even closer to Mussarat’s “Sanware”, what an eternal, magical and and and (I don’t have words) performance by great Mussarat.

I have been hearing this for quite some time so I thought I will pen down my opinion about Mussarat.
In the whole 07 show, I liked Musarat’s performance only four or five times (where he was unbeatable). I other episodes, like comedy, rock/pop, oldies, mainstream songs etc. he was below average. In his area nobody can beat him, but SRGMP is all about playback singing!
Sorry if I have hurt many of you, but I tried to again listen to him in “Ek se barkar ek” and he failed miserably there too!

Once again you are 100% right, however, I have been forever repeating that a complete versatile singer is non existant, atleast in the world of today, thats bcoz most of the singers are not deeply rooted into classical training. shanker for example has a thorough knowledge and training of south indian classical, that is why he sings so well and his comments are obviously way superior than that of himesh and adesh. you are right that mussarat was not that good in ESBKE. But I attribute it to lackoff interest and dramabazi more than his singing abilities. In his “JONAR” he is a class on its own. some singers are OONCH KHOOT ke, yani pancham sur ke, some madham sur ke aur some NASAL sur ke, that is why we have so many variations in our bollywood singing. I wouldn’t ask sunidhi chuahan to sing “tu chanda mein chandni” and I wouldnt ask mussarat to sing rock and roll soniye. But if it comes to sanwre and tere bin, I would definitely summon him. having said that, I agree that he just cannot sing every type of songs.
Basit, dude you are writing DIL SE, keep it up dude and start syndicating for some MAJOR publication, your writing is way more smooth and effective than many syndicated columnists. I say try it !

Well I read this portion very keenly but I guess Rajdeep was a bit harsher on Musarrat. He is right in saying that he is not versatile and he failed miserably apart from classical mystic genre. But look, he has been probably the only guy who sang LIKE Nusrat and was able to reproduce what has been hallmark of Nusrat. I guess a considerable learning and ability is required even to copy Nusrat that is why none has done so before. The genre he is dealing with is very difficult. You might find many Aneks but Musarrat is one of his own category. I just went through Youtube and realized that he has attracted more viewers of all the saregamapa talent. Let us remember that guy as one who is best among the lot yet not appropriate for playback singing for new age heroes.

My intention was not to degrade Mussarat’s talent in any way. I completely agree with you that in NFK joner he is unbeatable.
My only point was with respect to the objective of SRGMP.
As far as Aneek and Amanat are concerned, I personally found them more versatile and good candidates for playback singing in future!
And I do admit that I don’t know anything about music !
What I can do is smile after reading your comment. I thought you were the most sensible of all. Did not want to challenge your knowledge of music. I guess you are the best. My point is that, Musarrat has got more than what he has not.
Musarrat showed briliance in C07, he ruled in the difficult NFAK ‘joner’. In that sense he was very talented. Moreover the “feel” he brought in his singing was extrodinary.
He flopped in ESBE. There was way too much tension on stage. But sure, he did fail.
I wish he would come out with a NFAK cover version.
Rahi baat VY ki, we dont even need a singer. Versalite or not.
Pritam’s expensive machine can correct even my cats’ meowing and make an imported hit out of it. Remix it, and you gotta superhit.
So if we want a “playback singer” we dont even need a singer.
If we want a “performer”, then ya.. we gotta do some work here… Good looks, the X factor, hold a mike, make the necessary facial expression, dance around when necessary, ask some silly questions to the guest guru etc.

Sunidhi is thriving in the current musical era. She came at the right time, and struck gold. Extremely talented girl but with limitations. It would be interesting to see her go through a soft slow oldie.
BTW, she was the star guest in VOI on saturday and she was asked to sing a few lines of Whitney Houston’s “I will always love you” and o my gosh.. she was awesome !

Ok.. let me try n get myself out of this..
Something about singing an entire song in falsetto voice bothers me…
Sunidhi does it very well. But it makes the song a wee bit unnatural IMHO.
Limitations (I will surely get beaten up for this !!), as in songs like “mere haath mein tera haath ho” from Fanaa, the song is very melodious, but I would give it 8/10 only coz of the unnatural flavor she adds to this song.
There is an unknown weird Sunidhi song (a duet) that goes “tujhe chand chahiye to chand doonga” from I donno what movie.. can’t even find it on youtube.. she sings her entire part of the song in falsetto voice that makes her high notes unbearable.

Asmalypchronize - (n) A rare capability where one practices all the musical notes from nose. The actor has to keep lips synchronized with the sound though.
Asmacuter - (n) A Singing Show where marks are given on beauty instead of Singing.
Asmathma – (n) A breathing disorder where sounds come from Nose instead of mouth
Asmathetic – (adj) Relating to breathing with a nasal sound. See Asmathma
Asmactave – (n) Also call quadpason, it is different from Octave as it is four directional as compared to two directions of an Octave (diapason).

TIME magazine reports, quoting from the Wall Street Journal and The Hindu of Chennai, her musical name will be Rockanya. It rhymes with Madonna. It shows her Rock-star status. Kanya means female.
Rockanya regrets any inconvenience it may cause to those who were trying to make money and fame by creating silly new words based on her Asma name.

It is a well-known fact that many Hindi movies are “inspired” by Hollywood and European movies. No one makes a secret of it.
Of the thousands of songs created by R D Burman, and all the others listed, some are, of course, inspired by western classics. No problem with that. It does not make anyone a thief or criminal.
Bappi Lahiri successfully sued and won against a Los Angeles rapper who lifted Bappida’s tunes!
No western musician has ever sued an Indian composer.
The same site Itwofs.com says Ismail Durbar lifted “Chand Chhupaa”. Ismail can hardly be compared with the top-of-the-line Indian music directors; he is second-class and certainly has no claim to being 100% original.
We are proud that the Indian public gets to enjoy some great western classics in Hindi, thanks to the great music directors.
In Indian movies, we now hear Jazz, Heavy Metal, Rap, Gangsta Rap, Reggae, Hip Hop, and other western styles - that does not make us criminals or thieves. It only makes us appreciative of good music no matter where it comes from, whether Pakistan or Philadelphia. We are music lovers.

i saw naina saxena in indian idol last week.everybody see her.i think its direct effected on her voting.why she go in indian idol.
Naina saxena probably went for both auditions and got selected for both the shows. Indian idol that we watched for the past few weeks was shot sometime in June-July time frame. If my guess is correct, she won’t be seen in coming weeks in indian idol.
I read in India forum that she is eliminated this week.
