i enjoyed the show tonight…. everyone performed well ,,,
I agree. It was a relaxed and enjoyable show, lot different from the usual serious drama.
Everyone performed well, except for Zaheer and Pratibha.I expect more from them.
Liked Yashita’s performance the best.
All performed very well but for me zaheer was the best he have that diffrent voice which can create history in music industry no dout that yashita and sara were also good

good show overall, nothing like last year love themed show though. Still Sara was very good and yashita sings only one kind of songs brilliantly. nothing wrong with that. Zaheer was OK. my feeling is that vaishali will be eliminated next.
No it will be Soumen Nandi. He has not performed recently.
Here’s my ranking and opinion after today’s show.
1. Yashita: She sings amazing and I feel that even this week she deserves No.1 position and Sangeet chakra. But her song selection for today wasnt that great but her rendition was marevelous.
2. Sara: Suddently she rose from my bottom most favorites to No.2 for this week. Her song selections and performance were good this week.
3. Vaishali: She was consistent and better than rest to take No.3 position.

7. Prathibha: All these weeks she was consistently on the top but this week she was so so in her performance but I hope she is not out.Again, her song selection for today wasn’t good enough to bring out her skills.
8. Tarun: I didnt find his song romantic and he had unnecessary harkats which I doubt romantic people sing during romance.
9. Asma: Again pitching problem and she didn’t had the oomph that Ashaji gave to this song in the original composition.( Side note: Even Sunidhi Chouhan didnt do 10% justification to this great song of Ashaji’s in the latest version.)

Zaheer is a very good singer but I think there is something wrong with the song selection. Today’s song was not suited to his voice. I read the caption that the song is by KK and I will also check the original. If you compare the voices of Zaheer and KK, they have different tone and texture (as Himaish says!). So right song for the right voice = HISTORY
Guys vote for Zaheer, no I mean for the one you like… ha ha hi hu ! Well you guys have better understanding about music so vote for the who really deserves to win.
I think Vaishali is very consistent, powerful voice. With some diction training, she can mindblowing. So she should not be eliminated. Most likely Soumen Nandi will be eliminated next episode, he has become boring.
I don’t think Soumen will be eliminated next week.Two reasons:
(1) Then Aadesh would have to go.
(2) Zee have hinted on the budding love story between Soumen and Pratibha (another drama). I personally do not think they would let go this drama opportunity so soon.

Wow, what a brilliant show Zee TV put together this weekend. Congratulations to their creative team! If I had to summarize the success of the show in one word, I would say: Asma. Her mere presence lights up the stage like nobody’s business.
This weekend’s shows had all the hallmarks of a blockbuster.
DESIGNS FOR GLOBAL DOMINANCE
It was an excellent theme – India vs Pakistan vs Oman. Oman came out victorious which makes me proud as a hard-core Indian. Despite what some bloggers may surmise, we Indians are proud to see an underdog fight back and win. Alas, this year Pakistan lacks in the talent department. Their best soldier, Zaheer, sounds like an ancient Roman town crier.
REVENGE OF THE PRINCESS OF OMAN:
Shujat said nasty things about the dignified, poised princess Asma. So did Zaheer, Yashita, Soumen, Tarun, Debojit, etc. She forgave Debojit because of his childlike innocence – and his powerhouse talent – and also because he openly professed his love for Asma! Others were all mean to Asma so she has a surprise planned for them next week. Sorry, you have to wait and find out.
INDIANS RULE
Though Oman stole the show, the real winner was India because Indians always vote for the best singer irrespective of country of origin. Last year, they voted for Aneek who was clearly better than Amanat and Raja (Amanat’s recently released song bombed though Shankar-Ehsan-Loy gave it their best shot). This year, it may be Soumen or Debojit, both from Bengal, who can easily learn better Hindi/Urdu pronunciation, and beat the competition. But Indians are in love with Rock Kanya Asma who will carry the flag of Indian music to all corners of the world. Sarah and Pratibha (is she looking hotter every week? Asma is helping her) are improving. Yashita should sign up with Hollywood or Broadway – she sounds far too Western. The dark horse in all this? Debojit, the child Romeo.
PAKISTAN IS TRYING
Pakistan is certainly a worthy opponent. In my opinion, to win SRGMP, they need to send a handsome, modern singer, not an ugly classical singer (like someone from the band called Fuzon). Also more women will enhance Pakistan’s image and the odds for winning.
SEE YOU ON THE MOON
Kudos to ISRO, We are the 6th nation to plant a flag on the moon. This will help us expand our musical range. Ismail Durbar’s “Chaand Chhupa Badal Mein” is directly lifted from a French song but now he can claim he was inspired by his first-hand knowledge of the lunar surface (I mean we should put him on the spacecraft and dispatch him).
FINAL WORD
A new (or renewed) wave of nasal singing is going to pervade and prevail on the musical landscape over the next decade. Leading the charge: Rock Kanya Asma who will champion the cause of poor kids through her singing.
Is it Rock Kanya whom you actually support or it’s Debojit or Soumen

Sorry to say but you will have “probs” for the next 5 feeks as Rock Kanya goes from peak to peak and eventually claims the crown that is righfully hers.
Of course if you don’t want to have “probs” then get in line and enjoy the singing of the heart throbs like Asma, Debojit and Soumen.

Oh and just a feedback. I thought the closing line in paranthesis in your ISRO/Moon para was unnecessary. You shouldn’t have spelled out (like they do in the Bollywood movies) what need be done with ustad ID. should have left the subtle nuances for the reader to decipher.
The judges are trying to support girls more strongly as compared to guys. yashitha is better and confident in her performance. Moreover, I don’t know why judges are trying to kick Zaheer towards the bottom. he is a good singer. Plz just vote for singers not for people of different regions, either for yashitha or for Zaheer. I think Zaheer has his own identity. what he can will be defficult for someone else to perform. Thnks
I think Soumen wasn’t that great this week. He was great technically but had ZERO feel. Listen to the original by Javed Ali, and also the version sung by Aditya Narayan last season and you’ll see the difference.
On the other hand Sara was awesome, especially her Chand Chupa.. But I might be a bit biased as it is one of my all-time favourite compositions.
I agree Soumen wasn’t that great this week. But in the previous weeks, I agree again with you, he was by far the best voice on the show, and he sang with a feel that can only come from complete mind-body-soul immersion in the song that only a dedicated artist is capable of.
Thanks for bringing to light the extraordinary talent of Soumen.
This week Sara is the best. It has been proved that if opportunity comes, she can sing any type of songs: Ultimate Rock! (shakala baby…) and Ultimate Romantic (Chand Chuppa …). So far, Sara has sung many different types of songs (Excellent, very good, good and average) and it is called versality.
Yashita’s voice is manly (lack of softness that is required for a female voice) and she can sing only one type of songs (soft rock!). Yashita can not sing some songs those were sung by Sara and Prativa. I was surprised mentors and judges were so biased to her!

Sara showed a lot of improvement in the last couple of weeks.Her “Chand Chuppa” was one of *her* best performances till date but never the best performance of the show.I would put her after Yashita,Soumen,Zaheer,Vaishali, Pratibha,Debo (in this order).
Yashita’s voice has a different texture and she sings with confidence and power.Maybe thats the reason you find her “manly”.And common I bet Sara cannot sing most of the songs sung by Yashita. As Shankar M said Yashita was only 100 times better than others.

It’s disappointing to see how conformist most folks here are! Though many of you complain about te judges, the reality is most of you cannot see past Yashita and Zaheer. And the reason is obvious – it’s because the judges have praised them the most. And all of you, despite pretensions to the contrary, are like a herd of goats following the shepherding judges.
Please, develop your own sense of music, make your own decisions, vote for the truly deserving – don’t just follow the judges blindly.
Close your eyes. Listen to the songs. Then ask, mirror, mirror, who is the most beautifully nasal of them all?

I believe that the aam janata (the public) who are not terribly sophisticated but constitute a huge number love the drama and tamasha. For them Asma adds some spice to the show. If Asma gets out too soon, the entertainment value of the show will decrease.

True wajid ! But this is a competition and no one should expect a second chance.At this stage, only those contestants, who give their 100% every day, will survive and the rest of them have to depend on their fan base, drama quotient, or being in the good books of Zee management.
So either you sing consistently good or be good at the drama put forward by Zee every week.Otherwise there is no hope and I can see only Yashita and Asma meeting the requirements of being in these two categories resp.

i would just like to say that, i just started watching the episodes recently. i have always followed the show in the past. i didnt get the same feel in this years challenge as i used to in the past shows. there is something missing this time. the show has added a lot of nonsense talking and less quality music. i think that the challenge 2007 was amazing. every week i used to be desprately waiting for the show to come on to see the contestant’s excelling talent. i dont find that in this years show… i hope it gets better …..

I strongly feel they should recognize a seperate topper from each gender and devide the topper’s award equally among the two. Otherwise it’s hard for a woman to be a topper. Our desi mentality is so much stigmatized about women- Women shouldn’t hug others, shouldn’t say “I love you” to others, shouldn’t wear this and that,….so many reservations just because she is a women!!

To be honest the show is no great shakes. Some great performances, but overall its drab. The drama, Asma and all that jazz was fun for a while, then it got boring.
Indian Idol has started. VOI was about to end with jus 4 ppl left, and then the show brings back the dead via some twist in the tale.
I am kinda pooped out with all these music shows..
So while I will follow all the raves and rants in this forum dilligently, my time will be spent in reviving some old melodious memories in my blog senty-musique.blogspot.com. I feel I may get in the way of saregamapa fans if I bring those discussions here.
Hopefully things will warm up here by Friday…

Asma winning the Sangeet Chakra was inevitable and so was Tarun’s elimination.He only sang the sufi song quite good but very ordinary on other performances.
Chachi 840 we are still here but as you can see there is nothing to write about this darn show anymore.. even the funny aspects are not worth mentioning.. besides.. everone knows how great Asma is.. so there is no need to say anything about her.. Sooraj ko Charagh kya dikhana? right?

See how disgudting things r happening, after svoi now srgm also has invented a girl to openly say love to debo and his response with a mic kiss!! now we can’t watch these shows with family. Has indian culture changed like this?? I can’t believe.
svoi is even more disgusting, do those judges didn’t know the format when joining the show. It seems that show won’t finish, they increase the participants when they are reduced to three. The judges show their dislike of public voting format but after increasing singers, they again ask for voting!!!!!!! Well, Gajendra Singh has the gutts to accumulate the money from people’s pocket by such cheap tactics. I can’t believe he is the same Gajji who produced the original srgm.

This show has lost its appeal. Maybe Asma should have her own show so she could away from saregamapa. The people at the show did this to Asma not the contestants. Put her on a pedastal and then kicked her off so that the public would feel sorry for. The manner in which it was done was real nasty but its true she never deserved to be in the top 14 and her singing is sometimes painful to the ear. Those people who support her decide if u watching a drama series or a singing competition.
A singing competition with a drama series..thats what we are looking for, a drama queen with some stinking talent..sorry i mean singing talent..
What else do we want, she can act, can do comedy, create drama, dance and also sing sometimes, a complete package.
Her best wishes to everyone on the eve of DIWALI…she really appreciates the way you guys have supported her through out and is least bothered with the comments of fellow contestants. She forgives everyone because she knows the truth. After all she has a golden heart.

I think Asma is an entertaining singer. That is what we are looking for: decent music and entertainment. She may not deserve to be the final winner, but she certainly is good enough to be in top 5.
@Senty … Your senty-musique.blogspot.com is very good. It goes into the history of Bollywood music, the musicians, singers, trends, styles, etc. etc. It is a little bit beyond me but is still a good read.
To make your blog complete, here are a couple of suggestions: (A) The duo of RD Burman/Kishor Kumar had a tremendous impact on Bollywood. You should acknowledge RD Burman as the Father of Modern Bollywood music, and (B) Mention how the future belongs to Asma and the nasal genre.
Thanks to Mehfil, Rajdeep, Dockaul, AgentX who have enriched Senty’s blog by posting links to where you can actually hear the songs. Personally, I am fond of the melancholy (i.e. sad) songs created by RD/Kishor duo. My Hindi is limited but these songs have soul!
Well, back to SRGMP, the greatest musical competition show this season. Indian Idol 4 also promises to do well in a few weeks but SRGMP takes the cake because there is no match for Asma in entertainment value.
The way Asma renders the asthai, matla, antara, laikari, sur, taal, alaap, murki, harkat, etc., no other middle-eastern singer has so mesmerized the sucontinental audience. Debojit or Soumen may win but do not count Vaishali and Pratibha out yet. Asma will prevail over the odds.
