If it weren’t for Rock Kanya Asma to soothe our nerves with her singing, the world would be a scary place right about now.
This “excuse of a singing show” has turned pathetic with all the hypocritical drama.. Theme this episode was of ICL, so, everything turned cricketing.. The “Singing” Show was held on a cricket ground (pinch me).. even the scoring “Swiftly / rapidly / suddenly / in a blink of an eye” but expectedly turned to runs instead of scores.. So obviously there were no superhit or history performances in the entire show.. Even in cricketing terms.. Nobody made a 100.. Everyone was “Bold / LBW / Caught Behind / Caught / Run out / Hit Wicket / Double Strike / Intentional Obstruction” out in between 30 and 40 (maybe I’m being harsh here but that’s what it felt to me)..
With representatives from all Cricketing clubs participating in ICL, there were overwhelming number of “guests” on the show, and I guess, to provide them “spotlight”, one has to bring them on-stage to dance (poor chaps.. cudn’t dance properly).. and all the “singing competition” concept just “flew out”..
Thennnnnn, came the nand-bhawaj (can’t call it saas bahu) drama of Kaushik and Tarun.. (it was building up for couple of weeks so it HAD to come out, isn’t it?).. even Zaheer, Yashita, Asma and others were “dragged in it”.. (bad actors! no one was able to give proper emotions required for this drama).. during one “scene”, Tarun decided to quit the show (good choice.. should stick to it IMHO).. followed by teeen taaannn music which is trademark of SRGMP these days.. people from “all over the world” jumped on stage to stop him.. and guess what?.. he decides to sing.. cuz he felt his “father’s slap” (kaushik?).. Sings a mediocre song and acquires 6s and 9s from all people including “gurus”.. JAI MATA DI..
The Only thing I liked in the entire darn pathetic show was Kapil Dev and his comments about performances.. Honest and to-the-point.. His comment about “who should win” was a Slap to all Judges.. THAT is the “soul” of a competition.. You ROCK Kapil !!.. The MAN of honor..

We all understand the compulsions of ads and promos of reality show but saregamapa has now become a rumpumpum show with astrology, movie premiere, mela, cricket etc. anything but a rich musical experience..this is now showing in talented singers like naina , farhaz moving out and lousy ones like asma staying on..
I tried not to get emotionally involved but still I couldn’t help it…

I wouldn’t be surprised to see some fist fights on the show between contestants (a la Jerry Springer show).
