when you need mirch masala from srgmp then it indicates there is nothing to say about quality of singers…i think srgmp 07 was way better in ‘quality’..i havent seen a single performance in this season which is mindBlowing,fantastic,superb,outstanding [forgive me HR for messing the sequence]…On my ipod still it has ‘Mussarat Mania’..i hope someone from this season will replace it…

Nothing fishy…I think HimeshR also wanted Kaushik to be in his grahana. Did you Not see how excited Shankar was to have Kaushik in his team. Go watch the HimeshR special episode again. BTW how many times did Kaushik win the ‘golden Key”?
I have nothing against Shashi But he is not as good as the others…he did not get selected Asha Ji, Ghulam Ali Saab and Suresh Wadker Ji. Most of the other contestant also have knowledge in Classical music too…some may have more years of experience than Shashi who has only learned it for THree years Only. I don’t know wHy some of YOu are making such a BIg Fuss over this. What Good is knowledge if You can put It into practice WELL. Shashi should have sung better…but he’s still making mistakes…that’s not good enough for me.
Pratibha is very Good but she is not as good as Naina. Look out For SARA…she pretty amazing…he…he…he

Welcome back, Nothing Much is happening in the show, just Yet this round was boring as usuall, no fireworks, the same drama, Aadesh crying about everything. However some kids performed well, sara was one of them, Zaheer was off key and off and off beat, shujaat and faraz did well, but I wonder if they woulkd last long, Naina and Kaushik did very well, Partibha also did good, but I’m sure there is MORE to come in the future, the format of the show is retarded, to this day I am confused about what everything in this show, Like what happened to the eklavya gharana, who is coming back and why ? and why aadhesh and reshmiya and shanker and pritam rounds when we have so many great singers, like rafi ji, kishore da, Lata ji and manna dey and hemant kumar and muskesh ji and even suresh ji and sonu nigam ets ? only shanker deserved a Round of his songs, he is one heck of a singer. But may be in the next few week we shall see who deserves to stay, but the bottom line is exactly what Senty said a few weeks back, that is the song selection is a kill-joy, you cannot sing every song of every style, maybe I’m wrong but I eally really dont expect Ghulam Ali to sing Pop and rock, maybe he can, but you have to carve a niche of your own to survive in this dof eat dog world of music.
Anyway, watch the whole show above, shahsi has posted the 30th August episode , only then you can form a better opinion.

I am jus waiting until all the WMD (a.k.a astras) rounds are over and done with and we have the last 10 or 12 standing.
Your “kaun aaya kaun gaya” question is a toughie .. so here is a philosophical take on the answer.. Jo gaya wo actually nahin gaya.. wo wapas aa bhi sakta hai. And ofcourse, jo aaya hai woh rahega, isska to koi gurantee nahin.
As of now.. I jus watch the show for the performances without getting too deeply involved.
Some dude@zee has really worked over weekends to chart out the format of this show !
Lets take Shashi, one of the better singers… he was booted out by the first mahaguru.. brought back in using the booti thingy, but despite the booti he got booted out again by another set of mahagurus ! On top of that, now, hez standing in line to be elected back in via the brahmastra round (anybody.. pls correct me if i messed the sequence. Sorry, this one is maha confusing.) I hope he comes back.. but I split my sides everytime I see him
When the mahagurus are judging, they judge based on just that one performance, which has resulted in the eviction of some good singers… its like jus one bad show and out you go.
Hmm lets see .. Naina, Pratibha and Sara are very good. Mithika, if she survives the MGurus, may get the popular vote.
Boyz mein.. Debojit and kaushik (heard them jus once or twice) sing with “feel”, and
Shujjat “The Gharana Guy” is really good.
I am sure when the public voting starts, things will get more interesting.
i agree with you senty that some dude worked out on present format of saregampa.im one of the most disappointed persons with the way this year’s saregamapa is being conducted.i wonder why they needed to change the format while the last year’s format was so popular amongst the audiance and even a layman with little or no music sense would have pointed out who performed better and deserved to go ahead.this year we are already,to my best knowledge, down to 12 contestants and still know very little of the 12.and why in first place these unfair eliminations and booti stuff’s should take place?what was eklavya concept?and then why it was abruptly scratched away?in my opinion this time around zee is behaving more greedy by eliminating the good and popular singers and then going for public voting so more and more people send sms for their favourite ones?now with 12 left how many they will re enter into the finalists through voting or bootis is anybody’s guess.why in the first place they changed the format?to confuse people or to bring some betterment?i doubt.in my opinion the loss of credibility saregamapa suffered through this blunder is enormous.atleast im a dissapointed soul.
by the way i am surprised but happy to see most of music conversation going on the blog instead of indo pak bashing and discrimination stuff.i think it has something to do with administrator’s return,or they are tired of sledging and being abusive.whatever the reason i request all the members to keep this site and forum clean of garbage.lets join hands in bringing people closer and help in increasing the understanding and tolerance.

spoilers are i think [am i allowed?] its too early..when we will have top 10 then it will be good to have spoilers…
another thought: does anyone feel that the overall quality of SRGMP deteriorates with each passing season?
C2007 had excellent talent.. and there was this sort of connection, don’t you think, with both the host and the participants.
this season i’m yet to experience such a connection…

I think overall quality of Saregamapa 2009 is way below as that of 2007. I do not see that strong connection between Guru and the Student. It appears as if this link is hanging somewhere in the air. Everything is routine and mechanical, following a set format plus overall quality of singers ,in my opinion, is comparatively less than that of the previous year. But let’s still hope that some good drama and new surprises would be follow as the show proceeds.

You nailed it dude, Absolutely , right, SRGMP 2007 was really cool, and Musrrat’s performaces ? man, I wonder if you will have to wait for a majical singer, Because I can predict that this year nobody is going to replace Mussarat on your mp3 player. Also, if you get time, please do drop in your opinions some times, it feels good to be in agreement or otherwise with somebody else, it also proves that I have not Lost it completely ..> Just Yet !

I Loved your post, Its always a pleasure to read your comments , specially when you write with “feel”, kiyoun ke I know you write well and you are “classically” trained , but when you don’t write with “Feel” tou, Mindblowing, excellent superb, and yes “HISTORY” nahin banta, You should do some “KHARAJ” ka riaz and Low “NOTES” per Dhiyan dou, Only then you can get …> Pooray DUS !!
And talking of History, I do not understand how something can be HISTORY ? like we say that dude is history ? man I was wrong all along, I thought when you say somebody is history , it means that dude is Done for ! and maybe it means that Mussarat’s performances last year, were history ? Sombody needs to ELOBRATE , on the use of this word in context of mindblowing and excellent, or else I’m going straight to Oxford !

I took some neat advice from a few fellow-ramblers in this forum and stopped comparing 09 with 07.. and it feels much better since then
There is no connection with the singers, no soul in this show.
High expectations n low returns .. thats killing the fun.

Looks like it dude, and though nobody seems to mind it on the show, or perhaps they do not see it as “SYANTAX ERROR”, i would be offended if I’m told YOU ARE HISTORY !!!
I think, maybe I’m wrong, he couldn’t find any other superlative for HISTORICAL, and sperhaps thought that History and Historical are one and the same thing. Oh well, I’m no Shakespeare either, so let it be as long as people THINK , they getting a COMPLIMENT !
Aldo, did you notice that all of them are TALKING again ? duh ? there was noway himesh was sitting quite, so he changed the Rule in the GREATER INTEREST of the show, see ? and then yo uguyz have grudges against Himesh, Dude if he is from CHINA does not mean we can treat me so shabbily , after all, every single indian( and Pakis) knows about his musical prowess , so why do we get offended ? thats bcoz he is TOO GOOD !

I would love to hear shujaat sing some classical song or atleast something based on a serious raag, and Shashi ( if he comes back that is ! ) sing laga chunri mein daagh. by manna dey and Faraz sing bande mataram, AR REHMAN version and sara sing something of parveen sultana, and mitika sing dekh lo aaj hum ko ji bhar ke, and … man I’m retarded, they are only singing ROCK and POP and I’m dreaming Music, i would not be surprised though if somebody sings “AYE GANPAT”, after all we are Better RAPPERS than the best !

I think the contest detiriorated when the supposed ‘world challenge’ became an all out India-Pakistan affair. The quality of Pakistan singers this time round is far less than last year…a certain x-factor is missing from all of them.
They all look oppressed and scripted!

@ admin .i want to give a suggestion,dont know if it is practically possible or feasible.that a voting system be provided on this blog just for the blog users with the names of the remaining contestants.after every episode,we vote for the contestant we think performed the best on the day.by the end of the week,we would be knowing that who performed the best in the view of this blog users and compare with the public voting or the opinion of the mahagurus.every member should vote once per episode and should vote for one the think was the best on the given day,to judge the calibre of music sense of the blog users.after elimination the name of the eliminated contestant be removed.its a mere suggestion,other members opinion awaited.

Its possible..in last season we have public voting on this blog to decide who is the best according to US…we can start it but the format right now is so messy that i think director of the show also dont know how many contestant he is gonna eliminate every week.. I think when we will have top 10 that will be the right time to start our voting system..what others say?
