Today all the nine contestants will perform for the Bramhastra Round. Also there are two new contestants entering into Saregamapa. Zee Saregamapa Bangla winner Shoemen Nandi and Zee Saregamapa Marathi winner Vaishali. Next week they will get entry into Gharana. All mentors also released the new album of Aneek Dhar – Khawieshein… Watch the videos

well of course … what else can we expect from SMS driven results … among Abhaas and the folk singer … Ali Abbas was obvious the one to go … though I am happy for Ali to reach till top 3 … or is it that Ali is out in favour of Harshdeep ???!!! because Ali is far better sufi singer than Harshdeep … If Ali Abbas is not in top 3 then its a SAD SAD day for music ….
Ali is eliminated in favor of Harshdeep.. so harshdeep is going to represent Sufi in Finale..
Then its a sad sad day for music …

There are a lot of people on the blog who had a great “kan” for music and I really feel to make this a interesting blog and get drawn into the drama. How abt we judge the contestants ourselves. With a few rules.
No Insults, No Indo-Pak biases or differnces. Just appreciating pure music.
Commenting on the drama is just a boring drag. Let’s see how a good can we all be. This way we may add valuable information to our own knowledge.

KartoffMuter is absolutely on the mark. Given her multi-cultural background, and a Bengali husband, she has seen all sides of the story. I salute her for the honest, unbiased post.
Wish I could be that unbiased but I am not. I am an unashamed Asma fan. She’s the best.

I favor Asma not because I am a Hindu or a die-hard Indian – I support her simply because she’s extremely talented.
I love the Pakistanis, too. They are like lost brothers and sisters who have come back to the fold but still getting accustomed to the new-found free and democratic surroundings. For a small country, they sur produce a lot of quality singers.

Of course we all like Asma AS A PERSON .. but lets face it … she a TERRIBLE SINGER … and Saregamapa is a SINGING competition (last time I checked!) … so keeping her in the show means injustice to a deserving SINGER …
Ya ! I thought the same too esp. when Ravi Shukla was singing. The “disco” round had the contestants jumping around and dancing and I am sure they couldnt have held the song if they were singing live ! LOL.
And did I hear a ‘pitch corrector’ being used when Zakir Hussain was singing … during his ‘meend’ (glisando) I heard a very abnormal, almost robotic, pitch change … I am not sure if anyone else noticed that …
I love shahsi’s voice. He is brilliant. My guru also said he’s the best contestant in sraegama. I do not like debojit dutta’s singing at all. He is way too loud and overhyped
Shashi seems to have the panache to carry different songs without losing their soul an individulaity. He is a brilliant singer, and I am sorry Zee eliminated him. I at least qould have spent all my money on him.
God bless such talented singers like Shashi, Niana, Pratbha and Kauhik. The rest do not impress me, but these 4 are tremendous.
The rival show on Sta plus is not at all good. It has a few good singers, like Ritisha and Saptaparna. Rest are very mediocre. we do have high expectations of saregama, but this year the show has not lived upto 2005 and 2007′s shows. Thye produced some excellent singers like Nihira, Debojit Saha, Himani Kapoor, Aneek Dhar, Raja Hasan and Poonam. Oh, and Hmeachnadra was FANTASTIC.
Yeah .. you are right … Ritisha from Karnataka is the only contestant on VOI that I listen to … cant say that about Saptparna … she has been a bit inconsistent … Rohit Sunar is also very good … especially on high notes … but again a bit inconsistent …

Me 2 a Ritisha lover.But the interesting thing about the VOI competition is that they really have tested their singers with different songs till now. Ritisha had problems in the Rock and Arabic song theme. Saptparna had problems in other songs. They have made their singers come out and sing out of their comfort zone.
If you get a chance hear the Disco duet between Saptparna & Ritisha. It’s superb. Both singers have done a excellent job.
Rohit Sunar is good, but he does not have a throw in his voice and some songs don’t sound good in his voice.
Again this is my opinion. Would love to hear yours.

You are right. I heard the disco duet. It was fantastic. I like Ritisha’s gayaaki and saptaparna’s voice quality(it is different). But I must say judges on sareagama are far better.Thye are of pretty high quality, especilly Mr Mahadevan. They never insult the contestnats like Imsail darbar and Sukhi do.
I was shcoked at the treatment of one of the contestnats of VOI- Sayantani. She was very harshly treated, and for a not-so-bad performance marked 3 by Ismail, who seesm to hate her!
for your mail i can only say,im deeply impressed.and request you to make your presence felt the same way.supporting a contestant and arguing on that is not a matter of concern,this blog is for giving your opinions and sharing your views.but narrowing down the liking to the point of molesting other nationalities and races is something ugly.everybody agree shashi is a good contestant and needs to stay in the competition,but if he is shown the door ,its the fault of either the organisers or the voting system.but it has nothing to do with other states or nations.in the end,i would like you to keep giving your views.we all welcome you on board.regards

Could you tell me the name of your husband who accompanied Bhupen Hazarika? I am a big fan of this guy and also know that there were some very good musicians from Bangaldesh in his group.

Someone mentioned Hemachandra from a prior season of saregamapa. Wast he great or what! Too bad, srgmp is not a popular show in south India so he got fewer votes. The same will happen to Ryan Dias on VOI though he is not as good as Hemachandra. Ryan, however, brings a Latin salsa flavor to the show.
Asma is going to win srgmp 2009. Even if she’s voted out now (the people on this board have no clue about good singing; and yes, I mean all of you, no exception, who do not like Asma), she will be back on the show in the finale and win the trophy! Eat your heart out non-believers!!
In the meantime, I will keep posting here in her support in the hopes of rescuing Indian music just like Henry Paulson’s bail-out package will rescue Wall Steet. When I walk down Wall Street these days, people seems to be talking to themselves. They need to watch Asma and her fun-filled talking and singing.
I LOVED Hemachandra. but Asma is no singer. She is a personality. She sings nasal and flat. But personality? She has it in pounds. Remember Twinkle Bajpai? She went straight to Ghar Ki Lakshmi. Only recently, they replaced her making up lies,but she really was the Twinkle in that show. My husband says “Everytime I think India has progressed they do something like this and prove me they’re in the bloody stoneage.”
Asma can act. That’s where she belongs. Is that what you are reacting to? My lifelong training was by nature,in music. My mother was a
concert pianist. Her uncle ,fled Germany and became concert master of the New York Philharmonic. I was a violinist an vocalist. my husband is an outstanding Tabalchi -we knew Zakir when he was still following his brother for crumbs in L.A,with the rich white pimps in the front rows in their high heeled boots clapping as he put 6-10 endings for the applause alone on his concerts. Didn’t make him any taller-but my mother did buy me the same shawl. Sarcasm AND truth.He couldn’t get respect in India so he had to entice the empty-headed California crowd. Good-but not good enough. While the starving artists in India truly do starve. Yes I’m bitter.You see,I’ve been married to my tabalchi for 35 years. He had to make a choice at some point and music doesn’t pay. But I also lived in Pune for months-no,not in a fancy hotel,in a flat with his parents,cooking over kerosene.,listening to his Guru. I know how much devotion artists go through. And I’m mad. My husband was the main accompaniest for the Pacific North West for 20 years.I was there when my husband played with Zakir in L.A. This was in the 70′s (I told you I was old.)
This was when he he was still picking up crumbs after his big brother. Then there were the concerts. He was followed by his George Harrison wannabees. Hi-heeled boots and jingling gems. White pimps in the front row,clapping sycophants. So Zakir adds 3 more endings,5,endings,7-no shame here. And they clap. I cringe after 3. We meet in the parking garage-What to say? Did that buy you how many girls? How many beers? Make you taller? I feel the need to shower.Years later,having moved from L.A. to Wisconsin to the East Coast and back to The west coast-there he is-in another parking garage. My mother-ln-law notes the shawl he’s wearing and brings me the same one on her next one. He has good girly man taste-but -He’s still no taller.
And he still can’t compete with his father.
Shashi has a gift. He makes my heart sing. i have heard a great deal of music. I know flat from sharp. Lies from truth. Now that you mentioned lipsynching,I know WHY my favorite Debojeet song looked like he wasn’t singing it. Thank you! He was lipsynching it.

you are so right. shahsi made my heart sing. he was a brilliant singer, a gem. The purity in his voice is unmistakable. What a talented boy, and so down to earth.
I wonder how he will take this injustice. If we as viwers can’t do naything about it, what can he poor boy? His heart must be broken. I mailed Zee but in vain. It seems such apity. zee is following its own agenda.
sometimes I wonder whose fault is it- the channel which perpetuates injustice or us viwers who take injustice lyin down. It seems such a brutal pity.

The show is going along with dramas. this Debojit is just a mentally retarding abnormal boy. I dont think that he is in any sort of ’sur’. the way he express like some bear is dancing on the stage. On the other hand Pakistani singers are performing level best. Especially Sara’s voice is so sweet and her ’sur’ are so powerful that every song she sings feels in your blood.
Sara seems on of the finalist in upcoming days. Among others parathiba is also showing some improvement in her singing
