I have no interest in knowing whoz rich whoz poor. This is a regular musical talent show and thats all I am willing to treat it as. I care about the performances and I base my comments soley on that. I started out as a Sunvinder fan in the intro round. In all fairness to the other contestants today, Sunvinder sang badly. Thats it. One bad performance unfortunately. So was Arshad. It was obvious.
Shashi’s elimination looks unfair. Shashi is an awesome singer.. again my fav. But he was a bit shaky with the “Dil se” ARR song. Its a very tough song to sing, needs a LOT of energy, passion to sing it … and Shashi could not nibhao the song at that level. It was a wrong choice of song. But I do hope he comes back. Infact he is the strongest amongst the returnees. I dont remember the other names in the Brahm* round .. Asma is a poor choice for sure. Maybe she is coming in for some added viewership to see what new funny stuff she brings to the show.
Patriotism is a very heavy, pure and sacred word. I will never bring it up in this forum. Sorry.
I think people should stop bullshitting about India Pakistan crap… Both the countries are same somehow, when it comes to terrorism and same is the case when it comes to Music. Lets not go there at all…
I feel sad about the format of the show…i have no idea what is on zee tv mind.. i personally felt bad when shashi got eliminated as well as sunwinder… they are indeed good singer…
I am a Pakistani and i support music rather than passing bad comments on people or countries… If i was the judge, i would have personally eliminated faraz and sara..now for heaven sake stop this racism !

it was a mistake by zee calling these maha gurus for such musical formats …they should have been called for ghazal/classical rounds not rock music…. obviously they dont understand the rock/rnb..how possibly they can judge the kids better ?

Its so ironic that, instead of getting the point, people here are actually running away with the argument, Senty said the right thing from anybodys perspective , That is anybody who is not brain dead, yes, a million times yes, I remember debojit from SRGMP2006, I saw him a couple of months back in a Tvshow, literally bagging for work, he said and I quote” I’m waiting for a break for the last 2 years, but bhagwan ne chaha tou aik din merey liye bhi kisi studio ka darwaza khulayga”, that is enough for any sane person to cry a heart out, what it does not tell you is the amount of frustration, fatigue and low esteem that you live with AFTER winning the contest and being DECLARED the WINNER, you are still looking to make it a career, is it too much to THINK for a winner ? but yeah the show ends ( and it WILL END !) and then whether the it is the RICH paksitani, or the poor Indian, both of them will be in the line for a break, even for a third grade movie, Pakistan film industry is pathetically RETARDED, and I would like to know if any of the contestants from SRGMP, or any other reality show have had a break in Paki films, the only way they can survive being a PLAYBACK SINGER, is by releasing their own albums, and their own covers, as for the poor indian, there is a dilemma, Raja hasan the 2nd runner up, still sings in a hotel to make ends meat, most of them WINNERS from Indian Idol, SRGMP and VOI will forever be standing in the line for a BREAK and guess what ? for some of them, this door will never open, and I’m not saying that because I’m God or a maha giyani guru, its just COMMON SENSE that tell tells me that 2+2 will never make 5, bcoz with almost a dozen Winners coming out of these shows every year,and a whole bunch of them getting a break coming from the back door ( dont tell me there is no back door, if I remember correctly, rahat fateh ali, atif, teh Fat guy, and even ghulam ali were not the winners of any show ! ) there is hardly any ROOM for them to get a break, most of them will be singing in private parties, hotels and at the most in theri regional languages, there is a whole bunch of them getting a Ticket to ride based solely on their outstanding TALENT, mussarat abbass was outstanding, but I guess not as outstanding as to get a BIG break into indian films, yes there are a lot of them whose career as singers was nipped in the bud by these partial gurus. the list goes on and the complaints are endless, but yet again we are only talking about everything BUT MUSIC, industry is NOT music, it feeds Music, and singers and musicians, and when somebody promises a contestant ,” You will sing for my next film” I smile, becasue I know , somewhere that MENTOR is not very sure if he himself is getting a NEXT film. The bottom line is that its a fast paced world, I will give my eys to someone who remembers the names of contestants from SRGMP 2005, you dont and its simply being human, we are watching these shows for our FUN and OUR ENTERTAINMENT, the emotions and heart breaks are temporary, “show khatam, paisa hajam”, tomorrow, you will forget about the contestants , debojit WHO ? and Amanat Who ?
On a side not, I’d like to read somebody talking about MUSIC alone, or atleast some meaningful comments like Rajdeep, or Senty and Dockaul, or a dr.aamir. If it has to be about India VS Pakistan, I would rather watch Kiyounki saas bhi kabhi bahu thi, because, whether its indian or Paki that win the contest, they are still nothing more than a Nowhere Man !!

Oops, I forgot to mention, Poonam yadav from SRGMP 2007 got a Job in RAILWAYS, thanks to Lalu ji, she will surely be singing in railway functions, and some shaadi waadi, but poonam making it BIG in indian films, hmmm, the chances are slim to none, but hey the show Goes On !

Naina! WOW … if any girl could win saregamapa this year, its her … uss ka gala nahi gata, uss ki aatmaa gati hai … This girl and Rithisha from VOI will be the 2 finds of this year and hopefully will be singing professionaly soon …
Pratibha is a good singer but not outstanding, im not sure why is she getting such reviews (or may be i have missed some of her preformances) …
Kaushik is warming up … havent heard him that much … i think he only sang twice … i believe he has potential to sing ‘marhaba’ better than he did today.
Hats off to Aadesh sahib for all these wondeful compositions … i really didnt know he has contributed that much … Not a fan of his in terms of Atif bashing (more about this topic sometime later :))
sunvinder started off with an excellent sexy/mellow voice but somehow was not able to maintain that. costed him his place in the competition …
i think arshad naturally has this ‘husky’ voice, which was thought to be a sore throat … i sincerely think he should have stayed in competition … but then again, if shashi can go out then he can too …
faraz really was outstanding … the song he chose is my all time fav and he did justice to it … im not sure why is he downplayed some of the times … i think he has got great tonal quality and in great sur … probably consistancy is his flaw …
Zaheer could have sung the song much much better … he really missed the whole soul of the song … Amanat in previous program sung the same song much better … although zaheer did good in ‘challa’ part of the song …
I am not a big fan of sara but today was her best performance of the season … great use of murkis and meends but uses her head voice …
Mitika … at last she sang a complete song in her natural tone of voice … good song and nicely rendered … but as the original was sung by sukhwinder, comparison with original made some problems … i dont think she is arrogant or snobish .. may be thats her style … but who knows

Excellent performance by Naina, Kaushik and Sara. Har Har MahaDev. Deepali was impressive. It was certainly Sara’s best performance so far…EXCELLENT ….she has fantastic classical background. I don’t know whether anyone of you have noticed that Sara smiles all the time even while singing …I like the way she calls her mum “MAMMA”…I like Naina’s smile too…very sweet. Among the ladies Mitika was the weakest. I don’t think she’ll last that long. I suspect there will be a tough fight between Naina and Sara
Zaheer was not up to mark today…but I still liked his performance but it was nothing compared to Amanat’s version. I’m sure he’ll bounce back in no time.
Sardar Ji should have been eliminated long ago…no offence people….KavithaKrishM should have eliminated him and Not Farraz …wrong decision don’t believe go watch both episodes . Can’t wait to hear Farraz sing more classical songs ….will suit his voice perfectly .
ARSHAAD should be back in the competition. I like this Apun’s attitude. Wow Aasma is back….must have taken intensive Hindi courses….he….he…he

On a side note here are some news…
1.Annek’s music album “KHWAISHEIN” is getting released is September. He also sang for Vishal Shekhar in the film Kabootar and two other Bengali films (one with Sumedha). He is now hosting Saregama Bengali.
2. Amanat’s album has already been released.
3. Raja also made a song with Vishal Shekhar.
4. Debojit (challenge 2005) works as an asiistant music director with Pritam (since 2003) and he will definitely get a break with Pritam. Vishal Shekhar also promised him a break.

I think you are from pakistan and don’t know the relaity of these ocntestants. most of tjem are doing good work. Poeple like debojit(2005 winner), aneek, sumedha, himani, rahul vaidya, harshit saxena, abhaas are all able to improve their lifestyles. Nihira has done many plyabcks. a poor person like toshi is able to earn for his family after this show.
all the FINALISTS gte work(those who come till top 12) Indian idol 3 fianlists are still singing at functions and shows abroad. eg- amit paul, emon, deeplai and winner prashant. Thye are able to afford things theyw ere not able before. so plz don’t make statemenst before knwing

Toshi’s brothewr sharib is comosing for a film. small town girl antara mitra is now able to afford her hown flat in Mumbai and is looked after by anand raj anand. Pritam signed anwesha and aishwarya finalists of chote ustaad for his films. Raja hassan, himani kapoor, sumedha, aneek and amit paul alal got offers in pkayback. Monali thakur from indian idol 2 sang ‘zara zara’ from race and won regnotion. she was 9′th in the show
Nihira, debojit, deepali all are geting work. little jayant got his eyesight cured after coming out of chote ustaad. Hrashit saxena and irfan from VOI have sung in big films

The news and dhol drama was boring.
Shashi shouldn’t be eliminated, he’s a very good singer. I’m a ardent Ghulam Ali fan and like Suresh Wadhker’s singing but this was a wrong judgment. I believe Suresh Wadhkar couldn’t go against Ustad Ghulam Ali’s decision. I hope I’m wrong in this. Why is Aditya calling Shujat ‘ustadon ke ustad’? If so why is he participating in a musical contest? From the very beginning he was missing sur, feel etc. Only on saturday 30th aired in Europe) he’s singing was slightly better than his previous. He’s a contestant just like the others no matter what ‘gharana in Pakistan’ he comes from. The ‘mahagurus’ are selected for the wrong episodes. Ghulam Ali Khan will not eliminate the pakistani contestants selected by himself. It’s so unfair. I hate the drama’s on stage and the loud drum sound for TRP. All the pakistani’s or people badmouthing Indians should learn a lesson or two from Indians (India) for hospitatilty, giving chance to explore their talent, earn fame, name and money in India: the ghazal singers, classical singers, pop/rock, music directors/producers/filmdirectors, filmstars, tv actors, fashion designers/models and many may more. I’ve been many times to both the countries and I know the difference very well.
Religion issue can never be solved, specially hindu-muslim.
It’s good to be friends with your neighbouring countries. But it’s very sad that India & Pakistan can never become friends until Kashmir matter is not solved. Let’s hope for the best. Fingers crossed. Hindostani’s (Indian roots)all over the world are hindostani first then the country they belong to. That’s why we all look the same.
One more thing. Aditya’s dress sence is very very bad. Bad hairstyle (looks 15), except Rock episode) bad color combination, wrong shoes. The Rock episode was more like slow songs episode.

Yes there are a lot of good things about this show, they are bringing india and Pakistan closer and secondly they are a commercial organization for them it really doesnt matter if a Shashi is out or a sunvinder is in, fo rthem waht really matters is the TRP, and they will make sure that people keep watching the show and filling in their pockets. Do you have any idea how much money do they make every week ? by selling PRIME TIME ADS, voting Cut, and promoting guests ? ney, its way beyond your imagination. its TONS of money, they really dont care about music, they care about $$.

3. ought to be a good show once it goes into the final 10 stage.. contestants are still grooming.. (remember raja and poonam from c07?).. didnt counted amanat and musarrat as they were shining from the start..
Contestants:
who is gona amaze us in future?.. Shujaat ali khan.. Watchout for this kid as he gains confidence.. though he needs to stop acting like a rockstar and get back to his “gharana” style of going emotionally deep into what he is singing.. he would give us some mind-boggling performances
Debojit has a soul which indulges in songs he selects.. and he selects songs which are perfect for his style.. (smart kid.. or should I say someone who selects for him?).. would be interesting to see if there will be a mahaguru’s choice round.. (doubt it though)
Kaushik has sung only two songs which have touched me.. to be honest.. with less *noise* of music and clapping in the background.. he did pretty darn good.. excellent justice with what he was singing.. loved the depth of his voice and control..
Naina, yashita going on pretty good.. sara it seems has more range and control.. so lets wait for future episodes..
I reserve my comments about rest of the singers for some future post..
One request for site admin though.. can you please ban five words?.. india*.. paki*.. hindu* and muslim*.. that would stop people talking about countries and religion.. just a suggession..

I too feel this show will pick up when the final 10 or 12 are confirmed. Its way early in the game to nail the top 3 or 4. There are a few who are showing consistency in their performances. Btw, is there a rediff site for VY09 too?
Does anyone know if the SRGMP Bangla (which I believe is going on presently) winner will join the VY09 at some point (like last year)? The srgmp math is uber-confusing.. but, if so, there should be some slots left after the brahmastra round to accommodate the regional srgmp winners.. I think !

I have nothing against Shashi But he is not as good as the others…he did not get selected Asha Ji, Ghulam Ali Saab and Suresh Wadker Ji. Most of the other contestant also have knowledge in Classical music too…some may have more years of experience than Shashi who has only learned it for THree years Only. I don’t know wHy some of YOu are making such a BIg Fuss over this. What Good is knowledge if You can put It into practice WELL. Shashi should have sung better…but he’s still making mistakes…that’s not good enough for me.
