I have nothing against pakistanis but I do feel shahsi, arshad and sunvinder wee much better , rounded and versatile singer than shujat and zahee. i like faraaz butt

But some of the eliminations this week left me shocked. manisha, shahsi, arshad were the ONLY ones who can give some comp. to naina and pratibha. Shashi, naina and pratibha were the best. its very sad to see shahsi go
Are we ignoring the talent in our own country? Is it fair? we are a country over one billion and half our population is in poverty. Do we actually hav the RESOURCES to give charity to other countries? WHY DON’T THESE SO CALLED LIBERAL SOULS THINK ABOUT THAT. you people- ahve you done something for your own country? I work with a NGO which teaches underpriviledged kids. BUT MOST OF YOU RICH INDIANS THINK YOU ARE LIBERAL AND TOLERANT, and sympathize with paksitanis but whenit comes to injustice doled out to your own country men you turn ablind eye. when we cannot provide work to our own country, why on earth should we do so 2 other nations? For Sunvinder or Shashi to shine, its not necessary to slander Faraz or Shujjat and VICE VERSA. Agar inmein baat hai to woh apne aap nikharke aayenge. Of the Pak singers I think Sara and Shujjat are way better than Faraz or Zaheer. Its a personal choice. Nothing right or wrong about it. Lets see if F or Z can do better in future rounds. I will change my list then.

one more thing.. i’m a “kansen” not a “tansen”.. been listening to all the “asatzah” including amanat ali khan, fateh ali khan, baray ghulam ali khan, parveen sultana, mehdi hassan, ghulam ali, tufail niazi, ustad salamat ali khan, ustad barkat ali khan and.. (the list goes on)…
in semi-classical I have been a BIG fan of lata ji and rafi ji (class apart) as well as kishore ij and mukesh ji.. so if someone goes out of sur, lay and taal my ears and brain informs me.. (automatic comparison I guess)..
Okay.. enough of intro.. about this year’s show.. 3 lines..
1. Too much drama
2. Predictable
3. ought to be a good show once it goes into the final 10 stage.. contestants are still grooming.. (remember raja and poonam from c07?).. didnt counted amanat and musarrat as they were shining from the start..
Contestants:
who is gona amaze us in future?.. Shujaat ali khan.. Watchout for this kid as he gains confidence.. though he needs to stop acting like a rockstar and get back to his “gharana” style of going emotionally deep into what he is singing.. he would give us some mind-boggling performances
Debojit has a soul which indulges in songs he selects.. and he selects songs which are perfect for his style.. (smart kid.. or should I say someone who selects for him?).. would be interesting to see if there will be a mahaguru’s choice round.. (doubt it though)
Kaushik has sung only two songs which have touched me.. to be honest.. with less *noise* of music and clapping in the background.. he did pretty darn good.. excellent justice with what he was singing.. loved the depth of his voice and control..
Naina, yashita going on pretty good.. sara it seems has more range and control.. so lets wait for future episodes..
I reserve my comments about rest of the singers for some future post..
One request for site admin though.. can you please ban five words?.. india*.. paki*.. hindu* and muslim*.. that would stop people talking about countries and religion.. just a suggession..

I am aiming the above sentence at the many posts that should not have any place in this forum. From your post, I only got ticked off by your reference to rich liberal indians .. and what have they done for the country. I still strongly believe that it is irrelevant to bring in poverty and hardships faced by the citizens, into a discussion of a music talent show. First of all… let me say that it is always refreshing to read a readable post in this forum that refers to the show participants and their performances, for a change ! Welcome !
I too feel this show will pick up when the final 10 or 12 are confirmed. Its way early in the game to nail the top 3 or 4. There are a few who are showing consistency in their performances. Btw, is there a rediff site for VY09 too?
Does anyone know if the SRGMP Bangla (which I believe is going on presently) winner will join the VY09 at some point (like last year)? The srgmp math is uber-confusing.. but, if so, there should be some slots left after the brahmastra round to accommodate the regional srgmp winners.. I think !

Some of you are just so sad!!!! bringing racism into everything… India and Pakistan has come a long way… lets don’t spoil it because of some illiterate idiots on here …..its only a money making show by ZeeTv….A few days ago we give our views on the emotional side of this competition and people playing the sympathy votes,, by discussing their personal life so openly to the whole world….. this week was our famous guru aadesh and his sub story and his family….. is anyone really that interested??????…I am neither Indian or pakistani and this site where people can give their own points of view so openly …..should be done in a polite manner without obsence language and should be screened…. this is just igniting racial tension among the pakistanis and indians and should be avoided because it will get out of control…. anyway about the show…. What was wrong with Mr Abbas this week …. he is such a talented singer….but pakistan has the best singers at the moment…. if you all are ambassadors for your countries,,,, both pakistan and india …..you all are not doing a very good job. I have nothing against Shashi But he is not as good as the others…he did not get selected Asha Ji, Ghulam Ali Saab and Suresh Wadker Ji. Most of the other contestant also have knowledge in Classical music too…some may have more years of experience than Shashi who has only learned it for THree years Only. I don’t know wHy some of YOu are making such a BIg Fuss over this. What Good is knowledge if You can put It into practice WELL. Shashi should have sung better…but he’s still making mistakes…that’s not good enough for me.
Pratibha is very Good but she is not as good as Naina. Look out For SARA…she pretty amazing…he…he…he

Somehow I am disappointed by this episode. Can’t believe that Sashi is gone!!! I thought he was among the top three. I admit that he was not all that good this week but he is still better than most of the participants out there!!!
