Lil Champs is not bringing in as much comments as the challenge 2007 did…

Purani aadats dont die easily …. so couldnt stop myself from adding my comments here -

The girl from bhopal.. Vaishali.. was too good :-) but ya.. cute or not .. a lil girl singing “Hungama ho gaya” was kinda weird … but the kid has an attitude that carried the song very well.

The Karate Kid from Kota, was good in “Kabhi neem neem”. Nice voice for the soft song. But I’m still not completely over Sumedha’s nasal rendition of this song just a few weeks back.
Sach bataun…. I find this song very jaded and boring. Zee MUST buy more songs for this show.. or please gimme a beeeg break between two competitions so that I get enough time to fade out the previous performances.

These kids are singing the songs that we’ve just recently heard from our Sumedha, Aneek, Mauli and Co. So its not making a fresh mark unfortunately. I coulnd sit through the lil champ singing Mauli’s “Its rocking..abhi ishq toh karo ..” .. Mauli’s throaty voice ‘n crunchy facial expressions are still fresh in my memory.. unfortunately :-(

Aamna (kid from Pak settled in London) was extremely nervous. Looked like she knew she was slipping pretty badly and she struggled to gather herself and hold on to the song.

Smita’s “Hare rama hare krishna” was the best so far.. she had the right attitude, excellent voice control and almost perfect singing. And she was dressed like Zeenie baby. I was telling myself..watch out for this kid… But the problem with giving an excellent performance at this stage of the competition is that it works against rather than for.
… dont forget Mauli the “Maiiya Maiiya”.

Rohit Mishra’s Albela sajan was good.. but there was something artificial about the whole song/performance. Like he was trying beyond his limits to impress. Again ditto the comments for Smita. Dont over-do at this stage. I dont have HCM knowledge, but it just didnt sound right :-( Take it easy kiddo. I remember his “dard-e-disco” last time.. Cant believe I’m saying this, but I liked his d-e-d better than his “albela sajan” ! Cant say why though !

Mythili’s “Maine kaha phoolon se” was cho chweet :-) I mean, aisa gaana gawana chahiye bachchon se…. rather than the rauncy numbers just to please the crowd.. neeways, just my whatever worth.
I feel, in the last round, this little kid Mythili, was selected over some other deserving kids just to keep the “cho chweet” factor in the show.

BTW, I wait for breaks in this show just to enjoy the metlife ads :-) oh ya and the Nationwide ads too ! Folks in the US will agree with me, I think.

Veda’s “Bhaiyya na dharo” was a welcome change ! Woah ! Did I switch channels by mistake?
Not the best so far or anything like that … but poora dus for just bringing out a different song and pulling a fantastic performance with it.

I missed a couple of performances towards the end.

The judges and their comments are really nice. And decisions were pretty sensible in this round. I hope Sonu bhaiyya and Sureshji are retained throughout the rest of the show.

I agree with shashi and senty. there is no activity on this forum. i think some of the indian kids are fabulous. i think no international kid is upto the mark.

and i absolutely love the judging in the show. suresh wadkar and sonu nigam have great classical knowledge and its great to see them trying to teach the kids instead of embarassing them. these two with their knowledge and behaviour are perfect judges.

          Go little Champs!!

ohh and yes i love nationwide ads. metlife are very good too

                @Senty,

I read your comments. I think the first thing is to establish the goal..what is the goal of this competition?

If its to judge singers on singing ability then we can quibble on what kind of choices one can make.

If the goal is to judge children and see how good they can sing filmy songs, then the kids are doing good..

Anyways my favorite so far are Vaishali, loria and Tanmay.

Some of the kids parents are over ambitious. Rohit and Veda are case in point. I mean Baiya na dharo is something experts would be afraid to handle and singing all 3 (USK, Shankar M and Kavita K) for Albela Sajan) in albela sajan are case in point.

Anyways, on to next week. Let’s see what we have in store.

Ya I agree we need to establish the goal of this competition.
But for me, I really dont care about the end result. For me, it just doenst make sense comparing “Albela sajan” with “neem neem”. I did make some noise about this in C2007 discussions, then lost interest. Now, I enjoy the show for what it has to offer week after week and have my opinion about what I liked and what I liked not in that set of performances, then move on to the next round.
I liked Vaishali too. May have missed Loria and Tanmay. But will watch out for these two next week. I hope they made it to the next round ?
I’m still not familiar with the names or faces of most kids. Havent been watching with that much interest until this week. But I think these kids are extremely talented. I’m sure it will be a very tough competition and I am looking forward to the next rounds.

This lil champs show – Zee will extract the “dramapa” from the parents… the judges are gonna be cool and composed for a change.

I meant all this talk about what’s appropriate for the kids and what’s not etc..

The precursor to those kinds of talks should be a goal set. Personally, I would have been bored if they had sung things like “lakdi ki kathi”. It takes some patience to see kids sing, the only way they are going to attract viewers is by doing these kinds of things.

Loria and Tanmay seem to be “extremely bright kids” in addition to their singing talent. The judges are serious and sober..wish Himesh was here :(

Parents are too sacred of Sonu and Suresh Wadkar to raise a stink. Though last time some parents raised a stink and that was splashed and dragged..but difficult to imagine anyone trying that with Sonu or Suresh

                      great going little champs!!

haaa..nationwide ads are really funny and creative..wish in the UK they would show such ads…we usually get ajmeribabasaheb, shakuntala devi (she is mathematecian living in the UK just for few weeks (I am listening to this for two years and she is still here)…and that kind of ad…Ohhh what happened to Zee ..can’t they show some good ads :-)

Just wanted to say two things about this show….
                          1. I found very amazing little talent (future’s top singers). really fantastic.
                          2. This is called judging. Really proud to see these duo judges attitude.

I wish this could happen in SRGMP 2007 Challenge. We’ve found impartial judges in shape of Sonu and Suresh ji not like HR or Bappi Da.
