After his win, an overwhelmed Aneek hugged his mentor musician Himesh Reshammiya and said, “Sir I love you.”
Bollywood star Akshay Kumar announced the much-awaited results and General Motors’ Ankush Arora handed over the car keys, while Puneet Goenka of Zee TV gave Aneek the trophy.
Aneek received over 36 million votes from over 100 countries. The final show at the Andheri sports complex here was a starry affair as actors Akshay Kumar, Vidya Balan, singers Udit Narayan and Sudesh Bhosle along with the five judges – Vishal-Shekhar, Reshammiya, Ismail Darbar and Bappi Lahiri graced the event.
Akshay rocked the event as he performed to the popular title song from his recent release “Bhool Bhulaiyaa”.
Vidya, looking graceful in a black sari, announced the name of the second runner up, Amanat Ali, who got over 34 million votes.
“I never thought that I will reach the final three. I’m thankful to all the audiences across the globe who have voted for me and helped me in reaching here,” said Amanat, whose entire family was present at the event.
Poonam Yadav, one of the 13 finalists who were eliminated, received the ‘Spark of the Show’ title. She won Chevrolet Spark car and US-based contestant Mouli was adjudged the best performer of the show.
Leading actors from TV serials, including Rajshree Thakur, Sharad Malhotra and Amrita Prakash, also attended the gala show.
Debojeet Saha, who had won the “Sa Re Ga Ma Pa” title in 2005, also enthralled the audiences with his performance.

“The Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge 2007, has earned Zee TV close to Rs 120 crore from advertisements and sponsors for its 26 episodes, which is the highest revenue per episode collected by a reality show in the history of Indian television.”

Now when everyone knows that the votes were manipulated,let me tell u all that,Himesh is not the only one behind this, I think many big and established music directors of the film industry are also involved because they don’t want Raja and Amanat to sign a 1 year contract with Zee/Universal and be unavailable for singing in movies. Nobody cares about Aneek because there are plenty of other voices of his kind or even better. While Raja has a divine and catchy voice and Amanat is undoubtedly a gr8 singer and has a unique voice.

If what you wrote is correct, then it is a very good news. By the same yardstick Musarrat and Poonam could also have been ousted. But this is not true, considering that Poonam has not yet received any offer from any music / director, though she was the best singer in the entire competition.

No disrespect but I have few complaints with Aneek’s parents,
They did’nt teach him how to appreciate other’s when they do better then him.(must have looked at his face whenever he was not first).
They did’nt teach him to respect women.
And the BIGGEST complaint, they shud have taught him some manners…atleast he shud not have said the four letter word F*** on the stage in front of crores of people.

Zee is hand in glove with Rediff in the whole process. Zee outsourced its online voting process to be handled by rediff and I suspect the overall vote counting as well.
Now, whatever zee wants to communicate to the public, it is doing it through rediff. Obviously, zee can’t be seen criticizing Himesh directly for his actions during the show as the obvious point would arise that Zee should have stopped Himesh during the show and not complain about him now. So, they are using Rediff.

All the three are good singers… I love Aneek’s singing as he is technically excellent, never misses a single sur, good at high and low notes.. Amanat has a very good voice and is very versatile singer.. appreciate his attitude.. I am sure he is going to have a great career and Raja sings with heart and has all the potential to be a good performer..
And this is all my personal opinion and others might not agree!

I guess lots of people felt so and he won.. this is just a show and their real career starts now.. forget about these small perks they get now.. What a tragic end that Aneek (a child singer) is a winner of saregamapa challenge 2007. In last episode before grand finale, he was looking so tired & HR already announced that Aneek is far behind Amanat & Raja & should packed up. He also declared Amanat the second time winner. All the mentors were aware of Amanat or Raja the winner. But, alas! what a bad decision by Zee TV? Now I am confirmed that, not a single outsider can win any contest on Indian soil. In an episode, Amanat was no. 1 & after this he expressed that I am now confirmed that the whole India is backing me. In reply ID was so angry with him & told him that due to Indian he is in the show & he should say sorry to Indian. Here I want to tell that, How ID was wrong at that time. He has trust upon Indian voters to win Amanat. In the end we see, by international voting Amanat is no. 1 & by Indian voting 3rd……It’s true.
So, in my opinion public can not deicide who should be the winner. They become emotional rather than good judge at the time of voiting. They don’t have more idea about music. So, music directors or singers shoule be the judges in this type of contests. Once great music director Mr. Khayam Sb said in the “Voice of India” that we should not depend upon the public should decide the best singer or winner. Bcoz, this is the public who one time kicked out Toshi (a v. good singer) from the contest.
Of course Aneek is the winner & a good singer (but chidish voice), the question is, who will call him to sing songs for his film & for whom ( I mean heroes) he will sing. His voice will not suite any bollywood hero. I don’t know before 3 to 4 years he should try in the industry.
Though Aneek won the race, but I am sure he may not be successful before 3 to 4 years for his voice is matured. In saregamapa 2007 mostly he sang the songs of Sonu. Can anybody say that he sang better than Sonu? If not, who will call him to sing a song for his film & not Sonu? Aneek can’t touch Sonu from anywhere. So, I want to inform the supporters of Aneek to wait for some years for his filmi songs. Amanat & Raja already got break & very shortly we must have their songs InshaAllah.

Well, the finale left a bad taste and it was really anticlimax in so many ways. Rigging was done to everything of the final.
We in North America, were shown the “Rigged Live Show”. I watched this show just for the purpose of enjoyiong Mussarat & Poonum’s performances but ZEE-USA deprived us those precious moments by cutting Mussarat’s performance to few seconds. I was hoping $hashi will give us a chance to watch the full show but his postings are no different. Can anyone give the link to full performance of Mussarat in the finale??? I will be grateful.
As for vote rigging is concerned, it was obvious and I mentioned in some of my previous posts my concerns and reservations on the ZEE team’s antics. So I m not surprised at all at the final outcome.
Damage has been done to ZEE credibility by its “Creative team” for allowing too much cheap n crap to HR. ID is a bad loser as he showed in 2005 and here he has not done good to much of his own credibility by first joining forces with HR and then showing dissent in the end.
Now it will take a huge effort and time to bring back the credibility of ZEE SRGMP in future. I wish it could be brought back to the original format where only Mahagrus will be the judges till the final.

I agree with u on most of the things u said and appreciate ur good work. I am a Pakistani, residing in calgary, canada. I can see that w/o support of Indian public it would not have been possible for Amanat to come so far. I would say, to be more appreciative to Indian people, that they did it mostly on the grounds of quality of singing rather than giving just a favor to pakistani singers. So hats off to India for their true love of music.
I also believe that even if the public voting system (which logically I don’t agree) has to stay there, its still possible to get the fair result IF the voting system is made fair. But we can’t get fair result if we continue the current format which includes the most unjust clauses such as:
* One person can vote as many times thru sms/phone as his pocket allows
* The producer reserves the right to accep/reject votes without being answerable.
And thats the reason why SRGMP 2005 was won by an average singer Debojit, superseeding the better singers like Nhira, Hemchandra, Himani, and Sharib.
Similar results we ahve seen in IIdol series. And even in SVOI has bited the dust after its best singers (Toshi, Piryani & Abhas) were voted out and they brought them back using all sort of means.
The bottomline is that the best singers of SRGMP 2007 which include Mussarat, Poonum & Amanat (as per my views) have not lost due to public voting but due to ZEE manipulation only.
So, being a Pakistani, but having an overview of these reality shows, I am not shocked from the results of the final although disappointed of course. I have no complaints from Indian people but my regard has increased instead for their true love of music and the honor they have showered upon our pakistani talent.
The main plus of watching this show to me had been the introduction to amazing singing talents of Mussarat, Poonum & Amanat.

For those of u who think Raja is down the drain, I would think about that statement some more.
Raja was one of the most focused singers on this show…no crap, no distractions, no sympathy, no love triangles…just music.
He is honoring his commitments and is stayin away from Zee as much as he can….which i believe is quite commendable. As we all know Zee is a bunch of jerks who use and exploit people for money…and im sorry but if u sign contracts with them, it says a lot about ur integrity and ur priorities…if you wanna get ahead in life by cheatin thats fine…but remember Karma is gonna come bak to haunt u, if i were Aneek (yes i know it wasnt his fault they rigged it) I would have made a statement to the public stating in my eyes Raja is the winner, but of course i cant expect Aneek to do that….it would take a very mature and selfless human being to do that.
This argument isnt much of an arguement, we have heard it from numerous sources that it was rigged…and RAJA IS IN FACT THE WINNER….thats it, now what Aneek and Himesh believe…well i quite frankly dont care. The way Aneek has dealt with all this may be preview of what is to come…pretty much nothing…kind of like Vineet (remember him?)

RAJA HASAN NOW HAS 7 PROJECTS IN HAND
Apparently, Raja Hasan has made a handsome start to his playback singing career post-Saregamapa. It seems Raja Hasan now has at least seven playback singing projects in hand. Though I do not have complete details, these are big names, big banners.
Both Shah Rukh Khan and Farah Khan are extremely impressed by Raja�s singing and would like him in future projects. Raja is recording for Vishal-Shekhar this week for a Shah Rukh Khan movie – and most probably it would be for Ravi Chopra�s Bhootnath. The Dard-e-Disco version also seems to be a possibility. Apart from this, Raja has a string of other opportunities – with music directors like Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy.
Raja has already recorded for Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy�s High School Musical 2 and Bappi Lahiri�s Tere Sang. Tere Sang, directed by satish Kaushik, however has two music directors – Anu Malek (who is doing the songs) and Bappi Da (who has done the background score). Satish Kaushik was very impressed with Bappida�s background score in close friend Anil Kapoor�s movie, Gandhi, My Father and hired Bappida. However, the song Raja has recorded, would not be part of the main movie, but will be part of the title credits in the beginning and the end of the movie.
And the big news is that A.R.Rehman is also very much impressed with Raja and has promised him a song early next year.
Without a shade of doubt, this is the biggest start any participant of a singing contest has ever got. No winner or runner-up in the past of either Saregama, Saregamapa or Indian Idol has had so many offers right from the word go. While the rest of Saregamapa contestants are still struggling with getting bookings for stage shows done, Raja seems to be roaring ahead. Among other contestants, only Amanat seems to have a recording scheduled with Bappa Lehri, Bappida�s son.
A friend who updates me with these details, has another interesting story as well. Zee has been receiving a number of offers from overseas organisers, who would like Raja to perform for them during the world tour. This includes an offer from an Indian embassy overseas. However, Zee has insisted that they do not have a �Raja alone� package. They will accept the offer only if Aneek is included in the show along with Raja. When the sponsors flatly refused to pay for Aneek, Zee was in a fix and asked the organisers to speak with HR for further negotiations!

Yes, I agree about the 10yrs part. But it took Sonu that long to get himself established. Parthiv Gohil..who nearly won in 1998 is just now getting breaks (he is the one who sung yoon shabnami in saawariya). So any of these 3 will take a very long time. Look at Shreya Ghoshal who is being compared to Lata..she was first discovered in 1994 or so. She took about 8 yrs to get anywhere.
About Aneek..he does not have a choice. Bollywood is a closed industry, with insiders ruling the roost. Aneek will have to accept whatever the industry dishes out to him and gradually work his way up..he will not create any waves by returning the award or making statements at this stage.
Read the above link by Vishal Shekhar..they have accepted that the win was fair and square and are moving ahead. ID does not have work right now and needs to keep himself in media limelight as long as possible. I get the feeling that ID is going to fade away in the next 3-4 years. Himesh is at his peak and will survive for another 5 years with current momentum. Although, I do not like himesh’s music, I think the current generation will continue to support him..and Aneek, like him or not, will become something or the other.
Actually, after listening to Amanat’s songs I downloaded some of Mekal Hasan’s songs and listened to Jawad their lead singer. He has a good classical background and a very good voice. I think Jawad will be the next big legend in the future…Not too sure about Amanat though.

No amanat has much sweeter better voice than Javed Bashir and Amanat is versatile for Bollywood too and he is not only for Qawalli.

I was talking about Javed Bashir Qawal I guess, the lead singer of Mekal Hasan Band.
Sweetness of voice is important but also training and range. Amanat does not have the range when he has to sing high notes in high intensity. Mussarat can do that but when he raises his voice it strays away from the notes and becomes like shouting. Both were very good though. I liked them for their fine courteous behavior and their talent as well. I am sure both of them will persevere and make good names for themselves. But life is long and the almighty will test us in more ways than one..this competition is nothing. They need to maintain a cool head and keep doing their work.. That’s what I think
About Aneek, I always felt he was second to Amanat but better than Raja in terms of singing quality. About Himesh, actually I do not like him and that’s the truth
But, I have seen ID since 2005 and also other shows. I have found him to be a very conniving and manipulative person too..who can easily twist and misrepresent facts.

RAJA’S FIRST SONG IS HERE – HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL 2 PROMOS RELEASED.
The promos of the song Raja Hasan recorded for Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy in between Saregamapa are apparently being aired on Channel V. The song – the Hindi version of High School Musical 2 is an adapted composition by SEL, with Indian instrumentation. Raja Hasan has sung the song along with Shilpa Rao (Javeda Zindagi of Anwar), Arijit Singh (Fame Gurukul) and another debutant Tarannum.
The song is called “Aaja Nach Le” and is an adaptation of the “All for one” song from the original English soundtrack. The hindi version of High School Musical 2 is scheduled for a December 9 release and will be premiered on the Disney Channel in India. The music, which should soon be offically released will be on Times Music.
Unlike HSM1, the music for HSM2 was re-recorded in Hindi with Indian instrumentation and more rhythmic beats to achieve a “Bollywood” sound. HSM was hugely poular in India and Disney hopes HSM2, with added localisation would be hugely popular.
The other two songs in the movie by SEL are Ek Hain Hum and Kya Mast Hai Life. According to wikipedia, the videos are also available on Disney Channel.

Aneek Dhar was the best singer on the show, with a consistently excellent performance EVERY week. His voice quality and versatility is amazing, he will sing a black and white song one week and then rap the next. Also dont forget his sparkling, sweet personality! The true star won!!
Raja is makin a roaring start to his career….already done with his first release…with 6 more waiting in line…

This is my post after a very long time. Seems like a good discussion is going on between musing and jmkegeo. Everyone please try to understand that Amanat, Aneek and Raja, all three of them are good singers. No doubt about it. Amanat and Aneek being trained in classical music have a certain edge over Raja. Amanat is fully capable of singing any type of song, and his voice can suit all the actors of present time. Aneek too can sing all types of songs. Raja is however limited by the range of songs he can sing.
All the people who claim that Aneek is a versatile singer. Do you understand the meaning of being versatile? And in what context you are using this word, and what signficance do you attach to this word. In case of Aneek, it is true he has sung, and can sing any type of song he is asked to, and as per your conclusion, he is versatile. It is an altogether different thing to be able to sing all types of songs, and “to bring out the same emotion, sing at the same pitch with same notes, with same voice modulation and with the same flow of voice having a distinct wave pattern in your voice.” And it is on this point (text in quotes) that Aneek was found wanting. It is not his fault. He is born like this. He tries really hard and works hard on his singing, but he cannot overcome natural limitation. There is a singer named Vipin Sachdev who sang for Salman Khan in Sanam Bewafa. If you listen to him, he does not sound all that bad, but if he is to stretch his voice, inspite of his best efforts, he cannot do so beyond the certain limit, Sonu Nigam can stretch his over to a much greater extent than him. But, even he cannot do so beyond another further limit, and can never reach the pinnacle at the which Mohammed Rafi could stretch his voice, as he had natural gift and his voice suited it, and he was able to stretch his voice upto a level, where no other singer could even attempt to.
When a singer is singing certain song, he needs to bring about the desired emotions, twist his voice and modulate it to suit the mood of the song, and the music accompanying the song. Aneek did sing all the songs, but could not come true when it came to bringing emotion in his song, and he also sang all the high notes high pitch songs at medium pitch and of medium notes. He was rightly told by Shekhar on this count. It is not enough to make your face depict the emotion without your voice doing it. In this department Vinit was way ahead of him. If you listen to Vinit’s Tera Jadoo Chal Gaya, you will know what I am trying to say. There are four Sonu clones at this moment. Aneek, Abhas, Emon and Vinit. Amongst them Vinit is the best. The way his voice produces a wave pattern, and the way his voice comes right from the depth of the throat, and not from the mouth, is something to behold. Vinit being older of them all, has a slightly matured voice. Aneek’s voice, as I have reapetedly said, at this point of time suit only Sachin Tendulkar. Jagjit Singh told him about his voice being childish, and that it could mature in about 5 to 6 years time. I wish it is true and his voice does mature, so that he can prove to the world what he is capable of. But at the same time I am a little pessimistic, because Sachin’s voice still sound the same, as it was, when he was 16 years old. Aneek is already 18 years old. So arrive at your own conclusion. And please, I do know a lot about music, and can definitely pinpoint any flaw in a song, if it is there. So please don’t deride me if you don’t like my opinion (it is my opinion, and is not a judgement). I liked Aneek singing Tumse milke dil ka (Main Hoon Na) and Jaane Ja (Jawani Deewani, but he was highly overrated by ID for this song, which I did not like) the most.
As far as Amanat is concerned, he is similar to Aneek, but has a much matured voice. As far as capability is concerned Amanat and Aneek are matched equally, but when it comes to voice maturity, voice modulation, a wave pattern in voice, Amanat betters Aneek. I loved his Ye Hosla, Rasme Ulfat, and Tujhse Naraz Nahin.
Now we come to Raja. Raja is also a good singer. Although the type of songs he can sing is slightly limited, please note that he is a better performer than both Aneek and Amanat. He has got a slightly stronger and manly voice. He can sing with great aplomb, and he brings right kind of emotions into his songs. As far as putting emotions into song is concerned Raja comes first, followed by Amanat, and then Aneek. I loved Raja’s Meri Zindagi Ek Pyas, Allah Ke Bande and Tu to Jaane Naa (Salman Special).
As far as Playback Singing is concerned Amanat is the best of the three. But on stage Raja is the best. However to let you know all. Amit Paul from Indian Idol can really give a touch competition to all three of them. He can sing any song at at pitch, and with any type of notes. If he were to be in SRGMP he would have won the contest hands down, if properly mentored by any of the Gurus. Just listen to his Nasha Yeh Pyar ka Nasha and Yaad aa raha hai.
All these singers put a lot of effort and energy into their songs. But there is a singer, who simply does not even sing a song and do justice to it or bring proper emotions into the songs, but rather lives the songs, and puts not just energy and emotions, but her entire self into the songs, she is none other than Poonam. If you have to set a standard against which to compare a contestant it has to be her. People have been saying Aneek is Sonu’s clone, but I have no hesitation in saying even Poonam is a clone, and I am glad that she is a clone of both the greats, Ashaji and Lataji. She has the voice clarity of Lataji along with a great thump or bass effect which Ashaji has in her voice. Just watch and see her rendition of Kuhu Kuhu bole koyalia (she sounds better than Lataji (listen it on http://www.mastradio.com)), Rang De (typical Ashaji stuff), Sanam Mere Humraaz (way beyond an oridnary singers level), Hungama Ho Gaya (very much like Ashaji, even Ashaji was highly impressed), Dil to Pagal Hai (very much like Lataji), Vande Matram (very much like Lataji), Khallas (Similar to Ashaji), and Mere Piya Gaye Rangoon (effective voice modulation to sound like Shamshad Begum).
When it comes to making it big in Bollywood, it is true that Amanat and Raja have got a headstart and are on their way to fulfilling their dreams. Aneek has also got some work, but is unfortunately bound by Zee contract. Poonam will be singing for Bappi Lahiri, Vishal Shekhar and Himesh. Good luck to all of them. Vishal and Shekhar are the new sensation a Music Directors. They have mostly been fair and just, and are also in great demand. Bappida is not so lucky, ID is out of business. Himesh is still around. Vishal and Shekhar have promised Poonam that they will have her sing for them, and that they will give a song which will catapult her career, and are waiting for the right kind of song for her grand entry. Himesh is most likely to sign up Poonam rather than Amanat or Aneek or Raja, simply because he sings all the songs on his own, and can leave female songs for Poonam.

I dont have perfect 100% understanding of sur & tal but can appreciate right adaiegi of lyrics,their meaning and talafuz,
Today again I compared Amanats vocal quality filmed on SRK in background (Ankhon mae teri ajab si adiyea’n hain ) and i chose Amanat to be so versatile & mature vocalist as compared to Aneek’s not very mature voice..
Amanat also did Big B (sona sona iak punjaban )and that was great.
If he gets a break in Bolywood, Amanat’s voice is more suitable than Aneek for current heroes.
I had almost gone through the loss.. denial.. anger.. bitchin stages,but still no acceptance stage to say that Aneek won this contest.
Zee surely have done great injustice.
I dont think Raja & Amanats fans will ever accept Aneek as # 1..

I liked the detailed write-up you have done. For the most part I would agree with everything you have said. I too feel that Poonam should have been the champion, but reality is such that women always tend to lose such competitions to men..Anyways if such is life then so be it and I am sure Poonam will find the right chances from here on and make good in life(I am positive actually).
About the rest, the competition is over and regardless of what you and I say, Aneek is the winner. I guess we also need to take this in good cheer and move on. I agree that Amanat has a better voice quality and will definitely be singing some masterpieces for us in the future. I also agree with you that Raja can infuse emotion into songs better than the other two..but that is why he is such a singer..he sings from the heart and therefore if he is confused he will not be able to put the right emotion into the songs. Aneek is trained and has a high-pitched voice like Sachin Tendulkar..agree, let’s hope his voice matures in a couple of years(actually he has also given himself a couple of years for this purpose)..wish him all the best.

These kind of competitions are like any other problems we face in our day to day lives..Both Raja and Amanat got some good things and lost out on some things..Maybe someone got unfair gain..but move on there is a big life an ocean in front and much bigger wars to win.
Raja will remain Raja(King) and Amanat will remain Amanat(precious)..this loss from somebody calles Zee or some voters who believe something will not make them any smaller. forgive and forget..

Thanks for your appreciation. This is how we can argue with each other, and yet not get carried away and let our emotions get better of us. It is true that Aneek is the winner of this competition, whether one likes it or not. Though no fault of his, he entered the competition to sing, but his mentor and Zee people connived. He is at no fault.Zee people manipulated the result. No one should blame Aneek for that.
With regard to talent, even though people like Gautam Gambhir and Robin Uthappa might score big and over shadow others, but still people will always say that Tendulkar is the best. Same is the case of Aneek, he is the winner (scored big runs) inspite of having stalwarts like Raja and Amanat, he just played his part. Though the Umpires might have given a six when caught at boundary line, or given not out when out. In record books controversies are never mentioned, only statistics are. This is the fact of life.
Yesterday I happened to download two videos of Emon from Indian Idol, Tadap Tadap and Is Pyaar ko main kya naam doo. My god he sang so beautifully, though being another Sonu clone. I could say that he could blow Aneel apart with such a forcefull voice. Please listen to those songs, if you don’t believe me.
ITs not to mention here that aneek can’t sing its here to say wether who is best performer among these three………so I don’t think one need to go to doctor after listening the albela song in which every guru admitted Amanat a winner……….though I didn’t watch sa re ga ma pa 2007 I just downloaded the songs from youtube I truely listened the performances of these three singers and if you ask my rating I truely listen albela song almost daily only to praise the command over the surs of Mr. Amanat ……………Heads off……..and ofcourse aneek has a sound voice too but as far as surs are concerned please re-think……
