Pls read ur comments & u will realize why some of us r against hypocracy! if u listen to golden collection of poonam u will realize that not even a single bad or flop performance Poonam has given so far.So one day,her performance is 99% (not even 19-20 as per BL’s phrase),then why everyone has to talk about her?All other contestants have given minimum 3-4 flop or bad performances!finally everyone is happy that they could talk about her -1%.For me it was 100%,it is one of my fav. songs so i know,how it sounds,where stupid BL has not even aware of this Zubeida siong!

It’s is very indecent for all those over aged or underaged males to hit on just a 20 years old girl. She is quiet because she is a participant and at times I saw frustration and uneasiness on her face. It must be very stressful for her and may affect her upcoming performances.

Me - Indian living in the USofA.
I am talking on behalf of all the women who at some point had to endure such behavior for whatever reason.
If you are a female, between the ages of 7 and 70, and have ever travelled by public transport anywhere to anywhere in India, then you will know what this is about.
It is atrocious how many women endure bosses making passes in India just coz they hadnt “cross the line” as per official rules. Or blackmailed with consequences. All this because there is no strict law for governing this type of behaviour.
I’ve had only one similar situation at work in US. First a friendly warning, and then one call to Human Resouce took care of the nuisance. Unfortunatley, its not that easy in India.
Its so darn obvious that both Sumedha and Amanat are embarrassed about this nonsense. Amanat has tried to use his “pyar nahi kiya to phir bhi kyon darna” lines a couple of times, but he just couldnt kill the story. If Hamish, Besharmiya, topi-faced-monkeywala whatever .. is such a loveguru, why the hell is he keeping his wife locked up? Agar itna “respect my privacy” usko hai, to how dare he put these kids in this situation ?
I am very very very happy to see folks in this forum like $0.02W and others take a stand and raise a protest. Thanks for bringing some serious attention to this.

If this is a backstage drama I really dont care.. just dont show it to me. If I want to see this type of drama, there are other shows like “Big Brother” or “Big Boss” that sign up contestants who specialize in this type of drama.
Its no use cutting any more slack for this psycho or this show. This guy Hamish (good one !) rudely almost always cuts people off mid-sentenses. Talks (read that as blabbers) nonsense not almost, but ALL the time.
The first Himeshism I noticed was the “mujhe tumhare ghar me roti chahiye” line. If I were Musarrat I would have thrown the mic straight at a certain topi.
And yes, I noticed that “neeche se upar” dialog this week aimed at Poonam and I took MAJJJOR offence to that as well.
This Zee show is insignificant and I can control it with a tiny switch on my remote.
But if there is a way to protest against Hamish, I am in.
When was the last time we, in this forum, talked about “music” or discussed the songs ?
If this is supposed to be a musical talent show, lets have two performaces each from now on since the number of contestants are so few, and turning the final lap.
But (*shrugs*) who cares.
For me, the show began to rot around the independence day episode. It has since become worse and the stink has become unbearable now. I dont want to be a part of it anymore.
Its wonderful that everyone in the top 7 or 8 are already on track with great offers. Amanat, Poonam and Junaid are truly amazing and I certainly look forward to their music.
Musarrat is and will always be my most fav contestant of any recent music talent show. I hear he is ready to bring out his CD in a couple of month’s time.
The rest of the guys/gals will fade away from my mind by Spring 2008. Lets see.
Aneek is ok, but he reminds me of a certain cr*p capped piece of pork. Unfortunately I have not attained that level of sainthood to disconnect the two.

I read your comments on ladies from 7 to 70 and public transportation intrusions. I know that this happens in other countries like Japan and the US also, so, this seems like a common human condition.
I have never understood that behavior though. Any man would be disgusted and offended if some sweaty person happens to be in close physical contact with him. I don’t understand how its ok for the same man to assume liberties on any 7-70 old lady. The more civilised people become in the aspect and the more they raise their voices against this unacceptable behavior the better society it will be.
One big problem I see is cynicism. Thik hai yaar…Or, Aisa to hota hi rahta hai….Or, Kya Kar Sakta hai? and the worst Chalta Hai yaar…
I also think your comment/insight: “we do not discuss music in this forum anyway” is very astute. When was the last time people talked about music rather than people?

Let’s chill. I think Gaffar is a very decent man and just included the mention of legacy of Pathan’s to defend himself when he was attacked for his comments.
I also agree that one doesn’t have to be a Pathan to speak the truth or to be honest or to stick to his words. That would be like me saying I am knowledgeable as I am a brahmin (a Hindu caste) there may be many brahmins who are as far away from knowledge as HR is from decency; besides I am human first before being anything else, even before being an Indian.
But, as I said, our friend Gaffar didn’t mean that anyone else who is not a Pathan is not respectable or dishonest. He just included the Pathan legacy as a means to defend himself.

Gaffar : I have a school friend Javed Ahmed Khan in India who always lied when he told me he would celebrate Holi with me. Not because he didn’t want to, he always celebrated Diwali, but was afraid of colors. But I got the better of that pathaan and colored him to my heart’s content on one Holi :o))))))). Hold your horses a second; the way you are talking you are making it look like I am a Poonam-hater
(which I am not). I just said her performance was below-par. I recognize that many of the past contestants have done much worse. If you really want to know, I never liked Mauli (she killed ‘Swades’ to the point where I wanted to cry) or Joy (he was always average in my opinion), and Raja’s and Sumedha’s performances weren’t always to my taste either.
Once again, I repeat: I do NOT think Poonam is a bad singer, and I certainly do not hate her. In fact, I think she’s one of the strongest singers in the competition. But at the same time, I did not think she sang that well this episode. That is my opinion. Sorry if I seem harsh.
Also, I think you misunderstood one of my remarks; I said that Poonam and Raja were likely to be voted off next, but only because of HR’s whole lame love-triangle he’s cooked up. I don’t WANT her to go, but I’m afraid that she will go thanks to HR and BL’s tantrum after Mauli left. This is a shame because she is a very decent human being, which is hard to come by these days.

Also, when people such as 0.02 and Senty have stated the women’s-exploitation topic so thoroughly, there’s really not much else to say now, is there? Aneek, is a good singer and if you see my previous posts I have always said that he has a bright future and can become a great.
However, he is over eager and greedy to become popular and is willing to take shortcuts to climb the ladder of success (I think the posts above have discussed these shortcuts to death, so let’s not go there). Which is why I have baptised him as Oink the voice of “Ham”ish.
Being a lady(I am presuming) I am sure you would appreciate that what he is doing is plain wrong and symptomatic of an social evil which at a lower level manifests in such derogatory remarks and at a higher level more terrible outcomes.
Amanat, who is almost the same age is behaving in a much more dignified and mature fashion.
Let’s give credit where it’s due and not label issues/behavior along country lines.

Basumatika, As I said earlier,( BappiDA’s shori pakri gai) every thing is preplanned and is decided weeks in advance., Next is Poonam.. I would love to be wrong but you all have seen that orchestrated effort of Bappida and HR. Lowering her and Amanat and raising Aneek & Sumedha by making them stand and sing together. “ Wah Kya Achcha Jora Hai”. Indirectly showing viewers the possible faces of two finalists. ID had to make a smart move to bring Amanat on stage and then he also asked Poonam and Raja to join the group, if you remember well. Therefore successfully blocked the move but he could not do much about Poonam’s remarks .He will be very sad for her I know. We all will be if that happened which looks quite obvious.

U r a good & honest soul on this forum.
I hope & pray that as an exception to the rule, the devious plan of Zee doesn’t work & Poonam stays. If she gets eliminated then all the guru’s r responsible along with junta bcse gurus shared the same stage where Poonam was humiliated & Sumedha, Amanat & Aneek were glorified & not even one of them, even ID protested.
I don’t want to vote for Amanat anymore if Poonam gets eliminated! Remember when ID told to Poonam that according to him Poonam should have been no.1 & Amanat no.2, Poonam smiled & replied.” Amanat is my brother & I am happy, if he is no. 1″ she has a big heart! She also cleared the air for her sympathy votes & registered the protest!So if u want u can protest! I feel that zee explained the love game to the 3 involved & they played it.It was not for a day or two ,the whole thing dragged couple of weeks,even months! Aneek even went to the extent of calling his love situation fragile or delicate …whatever that rubbish means!
U know Mussarat spoke thru his face, his face showed utter disgust & the last time when he was standing there, he was just standing there to get through the whole farce like a final sentence so that he doesn’t have to go thru this again ,not even for a day!
In a way Mussarat got rid off Saregama rather than they got rid off him!
I have also seen that Poonam & Mussarat felt very close as according to me they always got step child treatment.
If Poonam gets eliminated then I will only vote for Raja at least he was not party of a cheap game. After Poonam gets eliminated surely singing ends as she is the only versatile singer left on the stage so now we have to choose only a good human being left there! Today I am missing Harpreet & junaid a lot! Both of them were good singing souls!
That’s my final decision now! If no one takes any stand apart from, oh, oink is so cute!
Now I would like to take this stand to honor Poonam! Her Vandemataram was way above all petty things happening on SRGMP! If no human being is even touched by her vandemataram then well,they r beyond help!

Balraj Sahni played the main character(Kabuliwala) in it. Balraj Sahni acted in the 1961 classic “”Kabuliwala”" penned by Tagore. His character depicting the relationship between a Kabuliwala, who had left his daughter back home in Kabul about a 1000 miles away, and a 5 year old bengali girl in whom he sees his daughter, was one of the greatest performances in Hindi cinema. The last scene where he brings the red bangles for the girl’s wedding has to be seen to be believed.

Balraj Sahni went from his native Rawalpindi to study in the Government College, Lahore. He completed his Masters degree in English Literature from Lahore and then went back to Rawalpindi and joined his family business. He also held a Bachelor’s degree in Hindi. Soon after, he married Damayanti Sahni.
In the late 1930s, Sahni and his wife left Rawalpindi to join Tagore’s Shantiniketan in Bengal as an English and Hindi teacher. He also went to work with Mahatma Gandhi for a year in 1938. The next year, Sahni, with Gandhi’s blessings, went to England to join the BBC-London’s Hindi service as a radio announcer. He returned to India in 1943.
His son Parikshat Sahni is also an actor. You can see him in many drama serials of Pakistani private channels base in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
Kabliwala touched my heart.. This made me cry several times. This is how a Pathan loves his place and specially his children. Just like him, I will prefer to die here. Dust to dust.

I didnt know that Asad Amanat Ali is no more. His “Ghar wapas jab aaoge” is such a beautiful song. Also is his Ghalib ghazal “Arz-e-niyaz-e-ishq ke kabil nahi raha” which was the first song I heard of Asad AAK and which got me interested in his other works.
Shafqat Amanat Ali, of Fuzon, the “Mitwa” guy is another son of Ustad Amanat Ali Khan.

My parental family used to live in Lahore and they moved to Delhi in 1947. Everytime my grand ma talked about her life in Lahore, her eyes were filled with numness. That always made me feel curious to go to Lahore and see for myself what kind of city that is. My knowledge about that part of the universe is derived from my grand parent’s personal experiences which are quite fascinating.
I felt very sad on Mussarat’s elimination. There is such divinity in his conduct and I think that was the main reason for feeling bad. My family and friends felt sad too.
Hopefully, with God’s grace, he will be successful very shortly.

Sister, Where do you live in India? Delhi? I agree with you that partition and then migrations of families had been worse experience of the people of that time. It’s a pity that Governments on both sides had been busy for so long poising the relationship that they themselves don’t know where to start unwinding now? We travel far as America , Australia etc., but majority never traveled couple of hundred miles across the border. I think responsibility lies on our generation now to force the politicians with our voices so that they have to remove these iron curtains.
Come and see Lahore. You will besurprised by the hospitality of people of that city.
Mussarat will be fine “Bhagwan ki Kirpa se”. Saregamapa 2007 gave him good boost. Now, it’s up to him and I am sure he will work hard on that.

I may sound naive but what does “ahbab” means. You did mention “dost ahbab” in your earlier mails. Is it derived from Urdu or persian language?

Now the meaning of “Ahbab” is also friend but it refers to a closer friend. This word came from the Arab/persian word “HUB” pronounced “Hoob” means ” Love”. and the word “mehbooba” is drived from this word, means the one with which one loves or lover. I am from the UK and I make sure that I catch up on every single episode of SAREGAMAPA. I have one thing to say here that the quality of the show has deteriorated over the last many weeks and trust me I am not singing the same tune as everyone else, this nautanki by himesh reshammiya is turning out to be dangerous. Folks, I usually dont voice out my opinion but after seeing the last few episodes, I have been compelled to write this comment. If at all the organisers of this show read these comments, they MUST STOP Himesh Reshammiya. He is SPOILING the reputation of the show. A show which should be judged purely on merit has come to shambles. This guy Himesh Reshammiya is selling Anik like roadside vendors, shamelessly. I would have even ignored this, but I think all these cheap antiques is not only spoiling the reputation of the show but is also DANGEROUS to the FATE OF OTHER CONTESTANTS. As someone pointed, rightly, Raja looks sad and restricted in his performance after this guy Himesh started insulting him. I would ask everyone, how can so many people including other mentors and public tolerate such things. SAREGAMAPA these days has ceased to be a singing contest, instead it has become a roadside tamasha to promote Aneek Dhar. Talents aside, if Aneek Dhar manages to win this contest, it will be absolutely wrong and a solely because of Himesh Reshammiyas chaywala salesmanship. Guys, please try to bring some sense into this lovely program and give other contestents equal publicity, or else simply stop publicity and let the public decide on what they hear. I once again urge all of you to mobilise all your efforts to stop this non-sense. Himesh Reshammiya might be a successful composer/singer and Aneek Dhar might be a talent, BUT the neutrality of the show has to be mantained at any cost. Guys if voting is the only way this person can be stopped then lets vote him out. Remember we are the largest democracy and we cant let our music get corrupt by NETA type VOTEBAAJI by Himesh Reshammiya for one contestant. The CONTEST is bigger and not the CONTESTANT. regards to all indians
Guys, be very careful and vote based on singing as HR this week will constantly keep harping on Poonam’s poor background so that audience gets a feel that she is surviving because of sympathy. He may even put Amanat down as he has come in bottom 2.
HR will definitely target either Poonam or Amanat or both of them so that one of the ID gharana contestants gets eliminated next. That is the only way he can save his Aneek as Raja has proved that whatever HR may do, he can’t touch Raja.

Unfortunately the HR factor has deeply hurt the credibility of this show. Beyond repair.
Whoever wins this show will never be credited for winning it fair and square.
Thats why I think Sumedha and Musarrat have lucked out with an early exit.
Aneek will be the most hurt. Personally and professionally. What HR believed to be a promotion stunt has back fired big time. He just doesnt know it yet. Or, maybe, there is a more devious diabolic plot going on under his cap. (No wonder he refuses to take it off :-))
We have gone over it in this forum before… Maybe HR is scared of Aneek and Raja. Ofcourse it is proven that he was scared of Musarrat from day uno.

Zee has certainly shown creativity in coming up with these weird categories !

That’s great! i just missed my pakistan visit bcse of political problems(election & explosions) in pakistan.Acually,i got the pak visa from Washington for 3 months in june & i was supposed to fly Aug 1st week but my family vetoed out!so i had to respect their concern.Today,sep,20 is the last day of my visa.I just missed this chance.better luck next year.

Political situtaion is quite uncertain in Pakistan right now. There is a General who is sitting there with the Help of CIA and don’t want to go. He is fighting for them “War on terror” which is the biggest stupidity I ever heard in my life. War on terror is another name of American Occupation,and capital imperialism. Can Anybody ask what Americans are doing in Afghanistan and Iraq? and with this general’s help they want to cross the border into Pakistan. That’s what war on terror is all about. Pathan’s are ready and awaiting them. They perhaps forgot what we did to strong Soviet army and the British Sarkar whose empire were so big that sun never set in it. It is simply a matter of time when Americans will be defeated here too. Humiliating defeat is written again by our hands but this time for the only remaining super power. No army has ever conquered this region. Not even sikandar-e-Azam’s.
I am sorry I got dragged into it.It’s a pity that you were not able to travel to Pakistan due to political termoil. These bomb blast are against this general. we hope that democratic forces will prevail soon. We will be glad to welcome you here. Well, Afghan and Tajik Issue, again is legacy of American occupation , well I won’t call it “the full ocupation” because they can’t dare to occupy the whole Afghan region because they know how many of them are going to die each day so they have incarcerated themselves in Bagram Airbase, Kabul. But tajic and Afghan issue is not as severe as it looks like. we have lived side by side for centuries and we will overcome it. It’s a fabrication of occupation to subdivide. Good thing is that majority knows it well now.

I very much appreciate it. Miami is a nice place but a little hot and Humid during summertime. If i write about my travels it will be called as basumatika expedition!If we restrict only to south america’s & carribien,i must tell u that all the countries r blessed by natural beauty as well as some unique features.For me,i like more natural beauty than manmade theme parks(exclude wonders,i think i like all of them).For example–Peru is my all time favorite.Everyone should visit Kusco & machu pichu-which is also declared as one of the new wonders.The Inca’s & their hidden empire is very mysterious & very touching!Also loved the beautifull Alpaca’s & Llamas!The native peruvians look & dress exactly like Tibetians.Damn the Spaniards who destroyed whole south america,just like Brits did to us!
Trinidad –i will never forget the fault line where natural tar errupts & is excavated by the govt & exported.it is sort of funny to see nearby houses changing their levels as per tar erruption.Food is fantastic in Trinidad-port of spain.The beautifull Bogota in colombia where u get uniform temp thruout the year,the beautifull prehistoric columbian artifacts,gold museum & the beautifull resturant above 15000 ft on Monserrate mountain,u have to take cable car to go to the resturant.On the other hand in suthern columbia is Cartagena on the ocean & little further down u get volcanic mud bath!Costarica with amazing forests,canals & volcanoes.Vinya del mar-the beutifull coastal strip in santiogo ,chilli which resembles suthern france,the coal mine in concepcion-(Diablo)-The diablo wine is from the winery in this area,But i hated food in chilli,Mexican Pyramid & museum is fantabulous.The never sleeping Rio in Brazil where Dhaoom was picturized & the amazing Amazon.These r some of my fav places,there r so many but i do not want to bore u up.Whole s.america is famous for vibrant paintings & artifacts & i am an art collector so my whole house is a combination of Asia +south America + little Europe.

I travel, come back , start putting stuff at right place & then by the time i am ready to write,i start travelling again.So i am a lazy bone as far as travel blog is concerned.But i get connected to people & places & i even asked the tour guide(who was Peruvian prof.. fighting with US govt to get back stollen Inca wealth which US has taken away on the pretext of research!) in machu pichu whether i can stay back in the inca empire & do some work there,my friend literally dragged me from there!
At the moment i guess i am doing only SRGMP & connecting to all of u!It has possesed nost of us i guess & don’t know,what will be our life post SRGMP?(sounds like,what is life after death?)
So far the climate on this forum is pleasant after this week”s spoller but agin by saturday night,it will start heating up with ,”my poonam,my Amanat,My Aneek…oops Oink”!So i guess everybody is enjoying peace before storm!
