@mehfil…i really like ur comments…very nice…it seems u have a much better understanding of music than most of us…and u understand it the way it should be understood…like a beautiful poem…not like mathematics…although mussarat vs, NFAK comparison is a little far fetched…mussarat can definately sing like him or will sing like him in future…one does not need to hear hundreds of albums of a person to guess that…sometimes a single song is enough….but the question is can he COMPOSE like or at the level of NFAK…very tough…almost impossible…NFAK is not a sort of artist which comes every day…lakin we wont put so much pressure of our sweet mussarat…just hope for a great future for him…
I watched/listened to this song sung by Mussarat(Teri bin nahi lagda) on youtube( http://youtube.com/watch?v=ythN3lv3_2E&mode=related&search= )more than 100 times till now, onething I did not understand is, during the repeat of this song at one point (after Teri bin nahi lagda.. and the tune goes on) camera is focussed on Vishal and he laughs. I didn’t understand why Vishaal laughed at this. Did Mussarat went offtune?

Vishal is laughing bcoz Mussrat went beyond the track which was supposed to end there for ASTHAEE, he did stop just a little bit ahead of the tarck end, that was over-run

I do not beleive mussrat is a composer, but you are absolutely right, even if he is the greatest composer, he can only WISH to be as great as NFAK, That was as “UNIQUE” as NFAK.and like you said “NFAK is not a sort of artist which comes every day…”.
I guess we are only expecting Mussarat to SHINE as a unique individual, with his singing capacity, also raja and poonam are unique in their vocal capacities, I do not beleive that an artist should be able to sing every song and be versatile, Jagjit singh sings great ghazals and KHARAJ based songs, yet expecting him to sing a fast number of Sonu Nigam would be as much of a joke as HR asking Mussarat to sing SIGNAL !
Also Reshma from Pakistan sings soul moving songs, but she is definitely not cut out to sing “Maiyya maiyya”, you either sing in lower octaves or Higer Octaves, Only a few can Sing in Super High octaves, belive it or not Mussrat is a Super Octave singer, only a few can reach that breath level, try it yourself, You maybe able to Go that high, but to come back to the starting octave is where most of us would be gasping for breath.

I think Vishal laughed during the performance is because Mussarat repeated the same mistakes again during the repeat performance. Observer 1:13-1:15 and 1:24. During “Tere-Bin” he had to stop for the music to finish before starting.
Please correct me If I am wrong here.

I think Shekhar and ID were both laughing in the video. But with their body language, I can guess they were not laughing at some mistake that Mussarat did while singing. They might have been laughing(in a jokingly manner) abt mussarat’s right-hand motions(that he often does when he is deeply involved in singing).
The way Shekhar moved his hand while smiling/laughing(with ID) resembled exactly like that of Mussarat’s action(look at Mussarat’s action in sanwre video & in chal chal mere sang sang video).

i dont think Vishal was laughing AT Mussarat, rather he was expressing his joy at listening to such a rendition, Shekhar was kinda having fun at mussarat’s right haath the hilana ( agree with anonymous). I think Shekhar is a HUGE mussarat fan.
i personally think the encore was even better than the first performance, esp the thing he does from 4:29 to 4: 45- it just rips thru your kaleja( to quote mehfil !)
props to ID for interupting HR when he was seeking to equate mussarat’s performance with the other male singers that day

This site has some original qawallis(& songs, some sung by NFAK alone, some with his group) that are not present on Indian music sites. The NFAK songs that are there on indian sites are mostly the remix version that were bollywoodized(& they aren’t really good compared to original versions).
and search for Nusrat fateh ali khan songs… they let u download songs in mp3 format.

watched part of saregamapa fiesco today…what was HR doing….should have given a nice goodbye to mussarat with few contracts or singing assianments…instead of those arguments…fools…i will be back once i have seen the whole thing…

Here is teh fun part from last night episode. I am sure you guys had noticed it too.
When last two, Raja & Mussarat were left, and they asked Raja to sing first, what hapenned when he finished singing?
Everyone came on stage and started one moring and danceing and singing with Raja. And HR goes, “Ji musharrat Sahab, aap ab gana pasand karain gai ya nahin”
Does this tell you guys anything? That the decided that Raja is winner based on his ‘THIS’ performance. They did not eve wait for the vote results.
One more thing, how happy was HR…can’t beleive it.

Dear Freinds first of all its very sad that the winner is thrown out by some bad people their politics strategy and their love towards other i dont know why but the cheap guys like HR are there no doubt luck is not with Mussarat that he got into his Gharana. Now something i have to share or say my feeling it may be a long one but plz read:
Right from the start of show first Asha told Mussarat u are a one genre guy but he proved in front of her by singing RD Burman song.
Again and again the cheap guy HR making useless comments on his singing like when he forgot the song tere bin of Rabbi shergill “track ko baju mein rakhiye”. Again and again the cheap guy HR told him “tum aise hi tikoge NFAK ke genre mein”. So many examples are in the show like Vishal tumne “hamesha try kiya” Cheap guy HR maine isse bola ki “yeh gana apni awaz mein gaye” why all this hell one of the main reasons:
THEY ALL ARE SCARED OF MUSSARAT THAT IF GET INTO INDUSTRY HE WILL MAKE COUNT AND WITHIN A MATTER OF TIME HE WILL KICK ASS OTHER SINGERS (SO CALLED LIKE RABBI).
ANOTHER POINT IF HE HAS ENOUGH MONEY 2 LAUNCH HIS OWN ALBUM THEN HE MAY NOT BE ON THIS ROUTE LIKE ADITYA SON OF UDIT NARAYAN THE ONLY GIFT ADITYA HAS. BUT MUSSARAT TOOK THE HARD WAY AND HARD WAYS ARE ALWAYS RISKY AND FULL OF PAIN.
HATS OFF TO HIM HE IS GOING TO STAY IN OUR HEART FOREVER NO DOUBT…..AND WAITING FOR HIS ALBUM OR SONG.
First of all, all the singers left now are really really good. So, no matter who goes out, everybody’s gonna be shocked.
BUT….the question is, what is the public supposed to vote for? the personal stories of the singers? there looks/sex appeal? regional factors? or a personal perception that he/she is a better singer?
HOWEVER, every weekend when these singers sing their songs and ask for votes, I think they are asking for votes on the basis of THAT performance. And if that is true, then, my dear friends, I dont think any injustice has been done…..Raja and Mussarat both gave bad performances, and hence, both landed in the bottom two. As the competition is getting tougher, every small mistake will invite huge punishment for these singers.
PS : I do believe that HR is a jerk. Nobody likes the drama he does on stage.

Raja: Wanna be Kailash Kher Genre. And tried every thing to become that and when he sung Pardesi Pardesi u saw the result.
Amanat: Wanna be Shankar Mahadevan and Hari Haran genre. Tried everything and never took a tuff song.
Aneek: He thinks himself of Sonu-II and always tried to copy him. But some bravery shown by him when he sung Bulla, Pape. But his voice quality already exists in too many talent hunt shows. No big deal he is lucky that he is part of Saregamapa that why not ignored otherwise a poor copy of Sonu.
Poonam: Size does matter. Yes really powerful voice and really she is in fight. But her sad story are of so many others sympathy etc. but full credit to her singing no doubt.
Sumedha: Packed in a tube wanna be explore at some stage but her voice quality is so ordinary no way she deserves to be at top 5.
about woman genres they dont have a single genre because it depends on their voice texture and only few has of Shubha Mudgal etc.

Mussarat Abbas: True winner a victim of bad politics, informal promises, and ignored person. He tried everything from Cheap guy HR songs to NFAK.
Where comes the question of his genre I dont understand.
Well, @just some lines sahab, Amanats first intro song, and in the episode when He and Raja were the last two and he sung, Yeh Hosla and Sanwal, Do you thing these are easy songs? well, I don’t think so.

In Friday’s episode of Saregamapa Challenge 2007, Mussarat Abbas contestant of Rock Gharana got eliminated from the show.. He and Raja Hasan of Hit Squad Gharana were in bottom 2.. and the one getting the least number of votes was going to get eliminated.. But Mussarat was ready to quit even if Raja would have got lesser votes than him..
Mussarat says “I was prepared to quit even if I was not eliminated because Raja is a good singer and the only one left from Vishal and Shekhar’s gharana.”
Mussarat did feel bad about his elimination.. He added that he did feel bad about his elimination as he deserved to be in Top 3 atleast.. but he feels there is no control over public’s opinion.. Mussarat doesnt agree to the theory that his performances in only genre was responsible for his oust.. He feels that nobody can sing like Nussaratsahab.. and he is God gifted.. and he only like to sing songs of legendary singers.. even on Friday’s episode he sung Rafiji’s song and everyone accepted and appreciated his performance..
Regarding Mussarat’s career after exit from the show -Mussarat is preparing for his own album where he is going to compose music and also write lyrics for it.. He will be able to finish it in two months time.. Further he has many offers to sing from both the countries..
Seems like all the Top Saregamapa Challengers will have an amazing career ahead..
Lets wish Mussarat all the best for a rocking career ahead……

I agree Himesh has always said more about Aneek than Mussarat. If you notice Aneek is influenced and follows along Himesh’s words but Mussarat bhai is smart, he stays innocent and concentrates only on singing and he doesnt try to act like hes trying to do it for poularity. Mussarat is the best and he is too good fo rthis show. Although, I still did not agree at all of his elimination. I wanted to here more of his singing and I wanted to see everyones faces and including the celebrities faces when Mussarat blows them away with his singing. I think if he won this competition he would have actually made it in the music industry as a big singer. Now none of the other contestants, nor Raja, Aneek, or Amanat will be able to become big singers even if one of them win. Long live Mussarat. We should all spread the good word about him and fight for him to become big so the industry hear him and make him the biggest star!
This is so injustice, I read people here only talking about Mussarrat performance signal to D-Grade him, bhai haven’t u seen Raja singing poorly for 3-4 times, and judges said so, but nobody eliminated him, and none of the performance of Raja were unbeleiveable like Mussrrat have performed even in “Allah Allah” in the end.
so pls be justified.
nobody should also compare Mauli with Mussarrat and Junaid, they were outstanding, not like Mayya Mayya.

Same feeling here absolutely. I too daily listen to the songs u mentioned. And would u believe! my 2 years old son sits in my lap to accompany me listening Mussarat’s masterpieces. It has become my daily routine and my kid has become so use to that whenever I sit near my pc, he keeps bugging me untill I play Mussarat’s songs. True Music is such a divine thing and when someone with a God gifted voice like Mussarat sings then it has no boundaries and mesarises everyone no matter what age.
I will surely update about Mussarat, he seems so busy these days but i will get him soon to reveal the latest developments.
As i mentioned on Non-SRGMP page, I m too busy these days but after 15 Oct I will have more time to contribute here.
