oh..I see a lot of Mauli haters are really dishartened this week.Feel so soory for them.
Please people, this is a commercial comptition and 99% of the people listining to it are not music savvy. So even if Mauli is not techinically perfect in surr and taal she leads the pack. People need to understand the spirit of the show and just apperiate the show and contesants.

MAULI all the way! You go girl! Mauli has the versatility and confidence to be a pop star.Everyone on the show has great voices. But she has the attitude. This is a show where you have to have great voice and performance. I like to see someone who is enjoying what they are singing. Another one I like is Raja Hasan. His voice is just the best. Gets to your soul.
For performance they should have gone to Indian Idol, SRGMP has always been a singing contest. The US and Canada are littered with Shitty singers like Mauli. Now about the attitude she has as much talent as any two bit actor. Please. She and Joy are tied for the title of “Do Not Belong on The Stage.”
This episode was completely full of WIN. I like the idea of giving everyone a video from their friends wishing a Happy Friendship Day. Made the episode very light-hearted and happy.
Shekhar was really amusing throughout the whole episode. Towards the beginning, after Bappi Lahiri gave either Joy or Mussarat (forgot which one) a hug or something after giving them a Ten, you could see Shekhar rolling his eyes.
And the whole Home Delivery scene was classic. Shekhar is a surprisingly good actor; the fainting scene was completely unforseen (my mother, who never saw the film, burst a gut laughing when Shekhar fainted) which made it that awesome.
Now, onto the singers.
Out of all the singers, I’d say Joy and Mauli are the weakest. Joy is good, don’t get me wrong, but in comparison to the others he really isn’t that ‘up there.’
Mauli is just someone I wouldn’t vote for. She was good towards the beginning, where her powerful voice shocked audiences, but now its just getting redundant and repetitive. AKA BORING. As for having an ‘attitude’ I hardly see how that makes one suitable to win the whole competition. Just because they act arrogant and overact on the stage and seem to be Aditya’s favorite pet doesn’t make them a good singer. Going back to that argument several episodes back over ‘versatility,’ to be a good singer one must be able to show that they can sing a variety of types of songs, not just stick to one element (here’s looking at you, HR). I wanted to hug V&S when they gave her an EIGHT, because quite frankly they were right. Giving her another TEN just to inflate her already huge ego would be plain stupid, and I agree with their judgment.
As for ‘Indian Shakira,’ I think that’s more of an insult than anything else because all Shakira really does is shake her butt.

That’s the sad part. Which is why undeserving people like Qazi Toqueer, Abhijeet Sawant and Sandeep Achalia (sp?) have won competitions in the past.
She always makes a song worth listening to rather rehash the same old boring stuff that other people do.
Oh yes, I’m sure that singing the same types of songs week in and week out makes her the more original. All the other singers stink because they sing different types of songs and show their versatility!!
Obviously I’m being sarcastic. I fail to see where this ‘originality’ argument stems from.
Aneek is the only person in the show who is fit for playback singing. I am not saying that the rest are bad but Aneek is the best. But for some reason bappida keeps on giving him low points , must be jealous I guess.
That’s not true. Aneek is good, I agree, but what about Sumedha and Raja? Their voice qualities, although differing from Aneek’s Sonu-Nigam-mimic-style, are also fit for playback singing.
Bappi-da being jealous comment made me crack up. I always thought it was because he has so many rings on his fingers that he accidentally pressed the wrong button.
All the judges must have been high on booze when they gave Poonam her scores. I disliked her performance with a passion. She seems to have developed a nasal style, similar to that or HR (NOOOO! The disease is spreading! Save us!!) and she was off-sur in countless places. Straight tens is just an insult to people who actually DESERVE straight tens.

Aneek also copied Vineet BIGTIME in that episode where Dia Mirza showed up and he proclaimed his love to her. Uhhh…Vineet-much anybody? Obviously a setup by HR to get more votes. I am glad Aneek doesn’t end up getting the most number of votes, mainly for the reason that HR’s ego would probably inflate to such a size that his big head would burst.

Whoa, whoa, whoa, TIME OUT.
Raja is an excellent singer, no doubt, but saying he’s a replacement Kailash Kher is going too far. He sang Teri Deewani remarkably well, but it was nowhere enough to match the power and magnetism of Kailash Kher’s voice. Raja did goof up during the song; he messed up a bit of the beginning, and he also was off-track towards the middle, where you can distinctly hear him speed up to catch up to the track music. I had to go listen to the song on my iPod afterwards to relieve myself of the mistakes.
Ontop of that its a show where people has to choose the winner not you guys who are writing posts here.

You were great and simply brilliant.there are thousands of viewers who will match your song line by line with kailash kher composition, they can never understand the beauty that you added to song by adapting it to your style.kailash kher performance narrates the relationship between lovers, but your performance narrated the essense of love between man & Almighty.for sure you gave this song a purposeful meaning altogether.

The only singing career in store for Mauli is in the bathroom, and she won’t get any votes in there, only neighbor’s complaints.
Pretty soon the producers of Saregama will be on the streets, because by the looks of it the demand for the show is very low, and the viewers are decreasing, especially overseas.
Here in the U.S. from the 100% that watch Saregama, 98% of them hate Mauli, and the rest of the 2% don’t know what music is.
Himesh, Vishal-Shekhar, and Ismail know better, they know the meaning of music, can’t they just admit how bad Mauli is and knock some sense into her and Bappi da.

Well Both are singing + performance contests and viewed by almost the same audience. Performance is very imp for any show on tv, else they will have to take srgmp on radio. It is only be performance that the singer connects to audience.
I dont think so performance is imp only to some extent. people watch this show for some talent not for performance. Remember this is SANGEET KA PRATHAM BISWAYUDH not PERFARMANCE ke. If they want to focus on performance only then they should change the name. And for your comment about taking the show to the radio if it was only for singing. Tell me one thing when you watch news what performance you get there?

Frankly, I have never seen Lataji or Rafi Sahab dance on stage and it was still called a “performance”(phenomenal one’s come to think of it). Until recently people like Shreya Ghosal and Kunal Ganjawala and others did not dance or shake their hips which competing in SRGMP…
So, for example Poonam who seems to be an outstanding potential, if she can’t shake her hips should she be disqualified?? I appreciate music and think not. I think I am reasonably happy with some one giving a good rendition…leaving the cavorting bit to professional dancers…as opposed to a half baked singer and half baked dancer…
Come to think of it. Does anyone rate Mauli’s dancing abilities as exceptional – like Shakira or JLo or any of the established dancer/singers ?
Why are people so obsessed with Mauli??? This is unbelievable!! You guys can write all you want dissing her until you are blue in your knuckles, but things ain’t going to change! She will continue to win week after week after week! Why? Because she has such a huge following – have you noticed how the studio audience goes crazy when she starts singing??
Also, do you realize that there is a wide audience out in this open world that absolutely adores her? Yeah, I wasn’t impressed with her shakalaka number at all. It was bad, but it was not horrible! Gee…there’s bad & there’s bad!! Why, for that matter, Raja, who has been so amazing lately – his rendition of “Teri Dewani” was so average when compared to either Emon on Indian Idol last week or Abrokanti from the children’s version of Sa-Re-Ga-Ma-Pa last season.
As for me, my personal favorite is Amanat Ali; he’s one heck of a consistent singer!!

I think Mauli connects. Specially with ordinary. Through her just better than ordinary singing and just better that ordinary performance. Also her dressing sense is not sofisticate… pretty odd and quiet ordinary. That is why the fan base is so large.
Only a few learned singers feel fustrated with Mauli, but srgma is for everyone to enjoy. Somehow they feel it was supposed to be a serial of only learned singers, and hence spread -ve vibes for Mauli.
True she connects but guys do not forget this is a competition not a concert. And I do not understand how some people can like Amanat and Mauli at the same time because one is diamond and other is charcoal. Apologies ,I do not mean to use harsh words for Mauli but just to show how different they are I had to use.
I loved this show!
Everyone’s preformances are great. But for me, the top contestants are Poonam, Aneek, and Raja, they are true singers and will be very very successful very soon.
Mauli on the other hand should not have gotten 10/10 points from the judges, because her performance was below average. Her sur was out of tune in some places and her tone was very flat in the part. All she was focusing on was her performance. She was not concentrating on the singing.
None the less, the show was great, and Mauli couldn’t mess it up because there are so much talented singers in the show, you forget about Mauli’s horrible singing.
I only heard Tadap and Aa Khushi Se Khudkhushi Karle from Darling but so far its really good. Hats off to Himesh for Tadap, best composition and singing after Aap Ka Suroor.
By the way, Aditya is too cute, and so is Fardeen!

War is not the only thing that takes place at the India-Pakistan Attari-Wagah border. This August 15 (which marks the 60th year of independence for both India and Pakistan), instead of gunshots and bomb blasts, you will see, rather hear, the sweet sound of music at the border.
For the first time in 60 years, both the nations will celebrate their independence days together, through the universal language of music.
This cross-border musical extravaganza will have musicians from both the countries — A R Rahman, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Atif Aslam and Shafqat Amanat Ali — performing from 11 pm on August 14 to 1 am on August 15, on twin stages on either side of the border.
Live performances will alternate from one stage to the other, visible to the entire live audience, no matter which side of the border they are seated. More so, the concert will also be telecast live across the two nations, thereby enabling India and Pakistan to be able to witness it together.

Glad you agree with me. And you’re rite about the ’sangaya malakar syndrome’ I personally don’t see anything wrong with her. I feel all the singers are very good. Otherwise they wouldn’t be there. Everyone has their favorites. But I don’t think its rite to judge someone or hate someone that much.
Bappi, ID and HR are planning commercial ventures and therefore they are promoting Mauli by giving her 10’s. Poor fellows, they do not understand that people buy albums because they happen to like the music…A lot of people have been signed in the past who have bombed and faded away and that will happen here too. Would not be surprised if they are already planning on how to cut their losses before the end of saregamapa 2007.

u guys don’t see bagger on sare’pa show…she is poonam and her mentor. please don’t cry on her life situation/background. don’t use that as a base to vote. everybody has problem in life in level of more or less. i am not saying she not a good singer but sometime she sings and looks like noise. but i must say few her performance are much better than others. just to say that

I would suggest you to stop bitching about poonam. You do not need to post your comment three times here. Everyone in the show are using some excuse to get the sympathy not only poonam. Poonam is certainly not my favorite but I would not criticise her beacuse she is better than you know who?
Mauli is the biggest beggar in the show and her mentor bappi lahiri is the beggar of the beggars. He is unnecessaily promoting her when he also knows that her singing capability is limited. Last episode he requested Bangla people to vote for her when she is not even from bangla side. I also remember Mauli begging for 10/10 with HR. So if she can do then why not Poonam, Harpreet or anyone.
Yeah, I wasn’t impressed with her shakalaka number at all. It was bad, but it was not horrible! Gee…there’s bad & there’s bad!!
What I’m trying to say is that based on the performances (each week standing for itself only; no influence prior) she shouldn’t be in the competition. The point of having the Gala Round or whatever you want to label it is so that way the public can vote for the contestants BASED ON THAT WEEK’S PERFORMANCE. UNfortunately, life doesn’t work that way and there aren’t monitors in every single person’s house making sure they vote for the correct people. This is all a competition between different regions and those of differing viewpoints.
The majority of Mauli’s fanbase has accumulated merely through the fact that she is ‘pretty’ (their opinions, people, not mine) and she’s the so-called Indian Shakira. Which is quite stupid I feel; Bappi Lahiri tries to attract the not-so-musically-inclined by comparing one of his contestants to one of the most well-known singers in the US (who shakes her butt).
So I agree with that much; it wasn’t terrible, but the way the judges all give her some sort of special treatment (that too, even people like Adi are starting to hype about her) it makes people foolishly believe that she is this Musical Goddess. I wish more people were open-minded about the contestants and pay attention ONLY TO THEIR PERFORMANCES IN THE PREVIOUS EPISODE rather than give people like Mauli the “Sanjaya Malikar” treatment (big props to whoever came up with that analogy).
I don’t mind if people vote for her after she delivers GOOD performances (like her Maiyya Maiyya) but when people just vote for her without any regards to how she sang, that really ticks me off. Which is personally why I hate public voting and prefer the Star Voice of India method of elimination; based strictly on the INTELLIGENT judges’ opinions.

- Bappida mentioned a film starring Lara Dutta where Mauli has sung EVERY song in the album
- Himesh promised to user her
- Ismail is making an album with her.

That’s exactly what people said for those like Sandeep Achalia, Abhijeet Sawant, and the dreaded Qazi Toqueer. But now, they’re basically nonentities with maybe one album that probably didn’t sell at all.
HR, if I recall, said the same thing to Himani and Vineet from Challenge 2005; he said that he would give them songs from his movies, but did he ever? Nope. He did everything himself, which would explain why basically all of his songs have been flops. Well, the ones he hasn’t copied from other people anyway. (I honestly don’t see why people seem to love his so-called remake of MehBooba, which is a complete insult to such a good song.)
Bappi-da, in addition, isn’t the most intelligent judge. I mean, does he ever say anything worthwhile? He always says the same old “Wah! Very good! Keep it up!” and when he DOES find something wrong with the singing, he usually just repeats the same stuff that Vishal and Shekhar have already said.
Ismail Darbar; I wonder whether he even LISTENS half the time when people are singing. He looks like he’s doodling on a piece of paper, never really looking at the singer or making it appear as if he’s engrossed in the song.

If I recall correctly, V&S gave her an eight (of maybe a nine…I forgot exactly). Shows that at least SOME judges haven’t completely gone loony.
Why, for that matter, Raja, who has been so amazing lately – his rendition of “Teri Dewani” was so average when compared to either Emon on Indian Idol last week or Abrokanti from the children’s version of Sa-Re-Ga-Ma-Pa last season.
I agree with your last comment; Abrokanti’s version was really lovely to listen to, and I think it was better than Raja’s.
However, I don’t think Emon did better. Sure, he was on sur and everything but he shifted the whole song up a few octaves. Normally, I wouldn’t mind but for a song such as this, it really DOES matter which octave you sing it at. I personally prefer Kailash Kher’s melodious DEEP voice, the way he sang Teri Deewani. The lower octave in which he sang the song made it that much more powerful. Emon sang it at a higher octave, and in the process lost some of that much-needed power and emotion.
Raja, on the other hand, sang at the correct octave of the actual song, bringing back the power. Not to mention, Raja’s voice quality was very well-suited for the song. So even though he did make more errors in the song than Emon, his delivery made up for that.
So I’d say both Emon and Raja performed equally well, both doing better in places where the other didn’t do so well. I don’t know if that makes any sense, but that’s what I think.

Agreed. ID also seems to want to hype up one of his contestants, although his method includes getting the public’s pity. I mean, I DO feel sympathy for Poonam, but let’s get real here. It’s a SINGING competition. Meaning she has to leave her personal life out of it. When she comes onto the stage, she must be a completely different person and put her heart and soul into making her song sound out-of-the-world. She shouldn’t wear that “sympathize-with-me” expression after every performance and allow them to put videos of her personal life up on the show where everyone can see. A true singer puts a fine line between personal and professional life. Poonam, while gaining sympathy from the public, is not showing that she would make a good playback singer in the Bollywood industry. I think ID is mainly to blame for this, but she should stand up for herself too I think.

It is not Poonam’s fault that Zee TV and SRGMP want to exploit the stories of its contestants. Poonam does not need sympathy votes she is one of the best singers on the show and definitely the best female singer. Almost every song of hers has been outstanding.

Raja told his whole story when asked why he forgot lines when eliminated earlier. Mauli was allowed to sing a whole other song to avoid elimination. etc.
Posters are trying to make it out like sympathy is the reason why she is now number one in the votes. I am saying that is incorrect and that she deserves positive things not only because she is an excellent singer but she’s also extremely likable.

Joy is out. He deserves this elimitation. lol. Poonam is far better then samedha. I am just surprised by Mahesh bhat’s choice. Samedha is a good singer but Poonam is better. Now because of this mahesh bhat’s contract Samedha survives.

I think all the singers have their own style and they are doing well sticking by it. eg Mauli and Raja, getting more tips from their so called gurus,and advancing in the competetion.
But my strong belief is Amanat and Aneek who have a flair to sing all sorts of songs will be the final two competitors, and Sumedha will most likely be the 2nd runner up. The others can only present their skills for songs of a particular genre/style.
To the person above. I happen to agree about both the people you have mentioned. Aneek and Amanat seem to be in a totally different league. Both have different singing styles. But I have been totally amazed with Aneek’s ease of singing fairly complex compositions. Pls. go back and have a look at his performances till date…

I live in the US and i watch Sa Re Ga Ma Pa every week, and it seems that the judges give mauli unnecessary praise. they give her 10/10 when she really doesn’t deserve it. mauli thinks that just because she did well on her first performance, she will win, but that’s not true. with every episode, she gets worse and worse. i hope that people will come to their senses and stop voting for her.
I thought Raja, Amanat, and Poonam sang amazing. There were obvious mistakes with Raja’s song, but he has a type of uniqueness in his voice, and that’s what makes him stand out from other contestants. Amanat has amazing voice quality and he definately deserves 10/10. last but not least, poonam is the best performer between the girls and guys. when she sang “Javeda Zindagi” in the 4th July episode, i thought she was mind-blowing. I hope people give her many votes and pray to God that she gets ahead in Sa Re Ga Ma Pa.
