Review of 17th August Episode of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge 2007
Today is going to be elimination episode and as you know three Pakistani contestants Amanat Ali, Mussarat and Junaid are in the bottom three. This episode is going to be very interesting as this has created lots of controversy and arguments amongst the mentors and contestants as well…so lets start the review of this magical show..
Group Performance:
The show commences with Mauli, Sumedha and Poonam singing Aaj ki raat from Don.. They are standing among the crowd and singing.. The boys enter the stage and they too sing the same song.. The girls join the boys in the stage.. Aditya is there in the yellow room and there is a photo frame where there is a question mark.. That is who will be eliminated next? The nine participants faces are displayed one by one on the frame.. Harpreet is holding two cards – Congrats and Hard Work.. It coincides with the lyrics of the song – Aaaj ki raat hona hain kyaa..
Todays theme –
Aditya says today the theme is dance numbers and calls the Josh gharana to know the results first..
Before the results were announced, Ismailji says – Let them first perform and then we can know the results.. Lets first enjoy them singing as because of the tension the performance is getting affected..
So, its decided that first there will be performance..

Bappida – This dance numbers is my favorite and I bought the Disco songs which is going on now also.. Mauli – I am thankful to you.. I am not commenting more.. You are popular and leave it to public to decide.. Sumedha – the way you sang it was mindblowing.. It was like listening to the recorded one.. You did a great job..
Himesh – The way Sumedha sang today was excellent.. Her voice will suit all the leading actress.. If someone sings like this – they will go very far and have bright future..
Results for Josh Gharana:
Mauli - Last week performance is shown in the AV and also the comments from the mentors for her is shown.. She is shown green signal.. She then does the vote appeal and thanks everyone who voted her..
Sumedha - Before the result, an AV is shown.. Aditya says she got the opportunity to go to her home town Rajnadh Gao.. She comes out of the airport and there is huge welcome for her.. there are people who have crowded her and put Mala for her and welcome her.. She travels in car to her house.. There too she has a huge welcome.. There is dance and music.. Her parents says till she was 2.5 years, she did not talk.. Only few words she used to talk but then she became good singer.. There are lot of prizes she has got, that is also shown.. Her childhood pics are also shown.. She goes to her school, goes to her class.. On blackboard words praising her and welcoming her is written.. She says she used to be a back bencher but never did masti.. Teachers used to take class and they used to sleep.. She then rides her bike and goes to the temple.. She says she had prayed a lot and asked for wishes here.. She believes she will win and only then come back.. She is going back home after seven months..

Raja also got the opportunity to go to his hometown.. He is also taken from the airport to his place Bikaner.. He says he wants to fly and reach home soon.. His dad comes in car to meet him as he was unable to wait for him at home.. He receives a grand welcome.. There is lot of lighting and fireworks.. His performance is shown in large screen.. The whole crowd gathers his house and he is unable to come out of his house.. He says his Grandfather was Raj Gavaiya in Rajasthan and his father was a Ghazal singer. He meets his sister who is a spastic child and says he had to climb from his neighbour’s top floor to come and meet her as the fans were not allowing him to come out..
He says I have struggled a lot.. Please pray that I should not make any mistake.. I am a bhulakkad no,. 1.. Vishal says we all are musicians and we can also forget things.. Dont worry, just leave it to god..
Raja gets Green..
Harpreet - Aditya says he took the mud from Jalian wala bagh for his previosu performance.. The AV of his performance is shown He also gets green..
Junaid - Aditya says Junaid spread the word of peace and friendship last week.. He is shown Yellow signal..
Vishal – You have been singing so well.. We are anyway going to record an album with you.. Dont worry about it..
Aditya announes that this time Raja has got the highest votes and gives him the watch.. Mauli is the first in international votes..

These two songs are sung by me and it is very difficult to sing songs that are made for a particular singer and particular style.. But they both have done a great job.. So, request public to keep supporting them..

Ismailji – Poonam is a very good singer who tries to sing all genre songs.. But you have to improve a lot to win this competition.. Amanat is not a performer because he is very shy.. Dont know for what reason you are afraid.. Dont be and sing without fear.. There is something to say, which I will say later on..

All the contestant in yellow room are called on stage.. Aditya asks Ismailji to comment on this.. He asks if they had refused to sing Indian Patriotic song.. All the three refuse that they have never said this.. Always they wanted to only spread peace all over the country and never felt they are there in some other country as they have got so much love and affection..
Amanat says – they will never think of saying something like this
Mussarat – we have come hear to sing and we thought we will sing for other people..
Junaid – There is so much in the media, in the news channel – in the newspapers that we refused to sing.. But it is not like this.. We got so much love that we never missed the hometown but for the past two days we are missing them..
Aditya says – this news was spread only by some Indian or Pakistani who does not want that there be any friendship between the countries..
Junaid says – If someone feels that because of them some kind of hatred is being spread – then we will go back now itself..
All the contestants are crying a lot.. Everyone are sad.. The whole set is standstill..

I am disappointed in the Indian people by putting the best 3 people in the bottom 3. I believed they were more mature than that but I was wrong. The truth is that some1 from pakistan will never win saregamapa because the reality is that it is an Indian show. Yes, pakistanis got the chance to be there but who are the majority of the voters? People don’t vote fairly and let alone ZTV would never let some1 from pakistan win. If that were to happen that will create a big chaos and put the ratings of ZTV is jeopardy. So if they do get kicked out it’s not a big deal because eventually none of these 3 pakis will win.

Today it was clear while both were in hot seat. Aneek rocked the stage. He proved once in for all that he is a versatile singer. Great job.
This is simply not possible that Mauli got highest international votes. People must have voted for worst singer and so she has the highest number. Sa re ga ma now really sucks. Their drama and politics is beyond our imagination. All three Pakstani singers in trishanku is not possible after that beautiful performance by Amanat specially. People don’t vote now because zee is earning and we are fighting for nothing.

Wow…amazing. Just because you don’t like Mauli you are venting all your anger on this forum. Gosh, if you really don’t like her, go and talk to Zee TV. But trust me, that won’t really help either. Mauli sings the kind of songs (modern, etc) which appeal to the youth crowd, who are actually the ones who have the time and enthusiasm to continue voting. Even if others do sing an old song beautifully, people can’t relate to that and hence they won’t get as many votes. Can’t you see that? Generation gaps do count, you know.

Poonam rocks !! My god.. she is so underrated in this forum !! Make Poonam sing Maiya maiya she will beat the hell out of everyone. Very powerful voice.. I like ID gharana.. they sing different songs different style everytime. Amanat tore down the house today… awesome performance. I just laughed when I saw he was in 3shanku. It was funny really. We all knew it already, but still it was heartbreaking to see Junaid, Amanat and Musarrat in trishanku.
Junaid looked very depressed in his performance too. I hope he gets some counselling and jumps back on track by the next show. I missed his usual energy. It was heartbreaking when he said he misses his home.
Harpreet was good today. He made me laugh. Very nice work
I hope the public will vote for him.
Raja – More air time he gets, more chances he will be our next Pradhan mantri
It was funny when Vishal cut him off during his speech. Kind of rudely too. Raja does come off as a cheezy vote seeker. But hey he is singing amazingly well too. So whats my problem !
Aneek – he was really cute the way he put his foot in mouth today
when he asked for votes. But that shows the simple and genuine nature of a person. I like him better than Raja just for this reason. Flawless singing as always.
Amanat was super again today. Bless him. He is my fav in this show. Very happy to know he, Junaid and Poonam are already recording songs for movies.
Sumedha was good today as well. Again not mindblowing. Again, she got away in this Mouli/Pak controversy.
Mouli – Everyone knows Mouli was below standard last week, even KAPIL DEV said so. Kapil who admitted not having any great knowledge of music, said she sang very badly. Mouli herself admitted she was bad. The judges gave her 7s and an all time low of 5 even. What more proof do we want that it was bad show by her. And she got voted No.1 in intl. votes !!
Somehow I have lost interest in this show in the past week. More than singing talent show, this is more like PR talent show.
Whats the use of watching and voting if there is no corelation between performances and votes. I am sure the contestants are feeling the same way too. Why should they sing their lungs out to impress anyone??? There is no guarantee that if they sing well they’ll get votes. Instead they all should practice public speeking.
All you need to win this show is to have been born in a strategic geographical area !!

Now mauli seriously has to go. how many times does it have to be repeated here on the site that people will understand that she has to leave, i mean it kinda gets tiring of repeating the fact that cause of mauli other good singers have to leave the show.don’t tell me people jus want her in the show because she is from the U.S. as for today’s episode that is sad, but all you three(amanat,junaid,and mussarat)know that you are very good singers and you don’t have anything to worry about, jus chill and relax, and im sure no one is getting eliminated, its just a twist in the show. so all of you just smile, cause god is with you and so are the people that know what true musicians are, unlike mauli voters.

This is the first time when saregamapa has introduced such a third class siger like mauli. i know that one by one all will get eliminated and ultimately the winner would be one.but this is an injustice to all the contestants who are being discouraged. she is shown better than ather contestants. this time i would suggest all the mentors and gajendra to decide not to eliminate anyone. i am sure that this would create differences amongst us as it is the time when we got independence. this is not acorrect time. this will create a wrong feeling amongst the pakistanis.even i know that the winner will be an indian, but pakistani’s elimination should not be due to their independence song, but due their weak performances. pls take a good decision today.
I am very sad seeing these abuses. To all who are writing bad things about these singers, my humble request is to sing even 10% closer to what they are singing and show it to the world. let me see how much abuse you get for your singing.

Mussrat, Amanat,Junaid all are having offers from bollywood. Its saregama’s loss if these 3 best singers go out. By keepin Mauli saregama is loosin all my respect. I for one would not watch saregama if Mauli survives and better singers are kicked out.
Request to Saregama management: Bring back the old system of having expert neutral judges picking the winner. Damn with the public voting. Paki singers despite being better have a disadvantage in this system.

even i like all the three, no wonder they sing any song. i just appreciate their singing but i know a lot of injustice is being done to them in this show. that’s the reason why i say that our expectation is of no use unless all of them support them.

If you are still wondering why Mouli is still there even after so much of BAD singing.. I would say the FULL credit should go to ZEE TV. Its a business stratergy to keep MOULI IN the contest so that ZEE TV will start doing GOOD BUSINESS in USA. The worst thing that can happen to Singing, Where so much talent is there and maestros are there. So you guys pls stop scolding MOULI. Even She is prepared to go.. BUT ZEE TV is not ready to allow her to leave. Come on GUYs.. its really SAD if you have not undersyood this cheap stunt till Now.

yeah I am too a BIG fan of this show… i dnt have any personal enimty with mauli.. but i guess merely judging her from performance skills would be inappropriate when there are competitors who are FAR better…
Raja u r gr8… but the most versatile singer is Aneek..and amongst the girls Poonam.. she is most wonderful female singer i hv heard in last soo many yrs who is sooo perfect.. it almost feels v r hearing a recorded version than a stage show performance..u r my favourite.. I am amazed with peoples judgement who r not considering singing abilities while voting..
I think the weakest singers in the link are mussarat, sumedha and punjab the puttar..

and by the way, zee tv requested the three pkai guys to sing songe from their countries because they wanted to celebrate independence. and the media made up the story of the paki guys refusing to sing indian songs. that was a lie because junaid did sing an indian song. so please dont get mixed up in this complication and just continue voting for them. thank you.

OK…I actualy watched Friday’s episode on http://www.muft.tv…and let me just say the whole show looked so damn fake. I mean you can tell the whole thing was totally scripted. Junaid,Musarrat,and Amant did not act surprised at all when they went into trishanku…they acted like they were expecting it and it is obvious that they knew and even the mentors knew what was going on…When they were looking at the signals you could tell they were just waiting for that yellow light…and none of them sang truly with their heart…They were all in a bad mood…Junaid was depressed…Amanat seemed pissed offf…and Musarrat seened like he just did not care anymore…They half-heartedly gave their performances and then took their seats in the yellow room in a ver dignified manner…They already knew what was goin on because usually when contestants are in the yellow room…they are holdong their head,not talking,just looking at the screen…Amanat and Musarrat talked the whole time and acted very casual as if nothing bad was happenin because THEY JUST DID NOT CARE ANYMORE…However…in the end when all three guys were called on satge all threee made ver nice comments and the way they spoje truly touched ppl’s heart…especially Junaid…his last line(we’ll leave if indo-pak relations are suffering b/c of us)was just great…Kudos to these guys for the way they handled themselves…Obviiously they were all expecting to go into the yellow room and had time to think it over that’s why they didn’t seem at all surprised or aanxious…Anyway…I realize that a pakistani singer will not win this show..although Amanat should b/c Raja is a lot of hype…Aneek is better than him…anyway good luck to Amanat,Junaid,and Musarrat and Aneek and Poonam…these ppl are truly deservong…and even if Amant,Junaid,and Musarrat don;t win they have represented their country ver well…and Pakistan is proud to bring up fine intelligent young men like them….See the link at the bottom of the page and watch the show…then you will truly know what I mean…

I just hope Mauli doesnt win…Raja Harpreet and Sumedha are all tremendous singers but Raja lacks versatility while the top 5 I listed above just have better voice quality(just my opinion)…anyway…let’s hope that his whole drama does not create too many Indo-Pak controversies…may the most deserving win…Pakistani or Indian

Dear friends, i read all the comments you guys gave and i think almost all of them were aainst Mouli. believe me, i am a quite good singer and will try to go and sing in India. That is why i am a huge fan of all singing shows like SAREGAMAPA, VOI, and Indian Idol. But Saregamapa is the best but when i saw those three outstanding singers in bottom three, my eyes were open for like a minute. And when i heard that Mouli got the highest international votes, that was another biggest shcok of all time. I am a very kind person that is why i won’t say anything bad about Maoli, i would just ask her that how would she feel if she would sing like those three singers and someone else like you have gotton the highest vote. I was happy that both countries are becoming friends but to see that, tears just came in my eyes when i saw those three angels standing in the bottom three so lonely… this is the world guys rafi saab, kishoreda, nusrat saab must be crying in their graves. shame on all the voters who are voting by seeing their look, nationality and their religion. very very disppointed. i had planing to go india and try in saregamapa but after seeing this all, i am just speechless. I think Aneek and Amanat are the best in the lot…both are versatile…But Aneek gets an edge due to his flawless and effortless singing in all the episodes…He is so consistent, it just amazing….
Raja Hasan is good in his genre but seems more like a politician than a singer…He knows how to get sympathy votes…:)
Going by the trend of voting, Raja seems to be the eventual winner…Because when it comes to vote, the Indian people seem to always choose the wrong one, be it in music or politics or whatever…

The treatment given to pakistani singers was too shamefull they were hurt and more than them their fellow indian contestant were hurt who watch them being mistreated helplessly which resulted in them bursting into tears. Raja, Poonam, Harpreet, Aneek, Mauli and Sumedha they all were looking like most helpless people in the world who wanted their pakistani freind to feel like home here but were unable to stop fanatic’s who wanted them to feel like away from home. Amanat, Junaid, Mussarat I am sorry for what you have gone throuh but Raja, Poonam, Harpreet, Aneek, Mauli and Sumedha I feel more sorry for You as these bloody idiot fanatic’s lets you down. Junaid and sumedha I loved you guy’s in saregamapa hungama when you were saying jaihind and pakistan zindabad please keep up the good spirit and never let these people win over love.
Indian people are good but Zee TV are bound to obey the top finincer and every one should understand that at this level performance are being judge on regional basis and many other factors( I don’t want to disclose) not only singing. You have an example of Mauli When Ashaji rate gave her negativly then she sang same previous song(Mayya-mayya)..
So don’t worry.. If you out today, they you all(3) should not perform at all. It’s a diplomatic game not show.
Do not disregard….i respect Sa Re Ga Ma Pa the effort of Indo-Pak Friendship; But the long term root of biases …it will take time. Zee TV should stop this melodramas of let all participant cry ,,just watch if you recorded the show. Or watch DVD when this melodrama was going on producer made all participants crying like they lost their life (It was exaggerated) and three “Trishanku’s facial gestures …look again care fully …any one can say (Not a drop of tears) not melodrama purely drama to speak words …all were crying heartfelty and three were speaking the word of emotional blackmailing as it was clearly seen by gestures like …”How they make others cry …and making FOOL with innocent face and innocent voice..…watch it again with minute observation.

If you are talking about Patriotism to India be patriotic please. I do not know whether they REFUSED to sing Indian Patriotic Song or not ….but as this issue aroused……Come on and let all three participants to sing Indian Patriotic song and let them show some friendship for India and give them a Chance to WIN Indian Patriotic People. Mussarat Amanat and Junaid… Stop being apologetic about something that u guyz dint even do. If We are proud to be Indians – U should be proud of ur own country. I think someone above made a valid point and i would just like to dwelve on it further.
a. Mauli’s winning,staying in the show is not her fault,she is there because Zee wants her. Zee is aiming at gaining viewership internationally.
b. Every person who has heard Indian music will agree on how weak Mauli is in comparison to others, the reason to get upset is that the “Guru’s” specially Bappi and Shekhar seem very partial towards her.
c. The 18th August episode everyone sang well, but Poonams “performance” was said to be “lacking” something as per Bappi. Hey Bappi this is a Singing competion and not a ” Dance and Performance” competion. Maybe he thought he was on Indian Idol. While Mauli sang her song, did anyone check when she started the song she was totally “besur”, she did pick up and sing well later. But also check how the chorus supported her during the Alaap’s.
d. For me Raja, Aneek, Sumedha, Poonam, Amanat are very good. Junaid and Musarat are ok, Mauli is Bad.
For all Mauli supporters, If you think She sang Mayya Mayya so beautifully, check Sumitra Iyers performance on Star Voice.
I think Saregama is a farce, watch Star Voice, the Singing quality is much better.
Because of Mauli and wrongly supporting her from the judgement side,every week the good singers are voting out. I was quite astonished even the audience sent to Amanat two times to TRISHANKU. I would like to request the Indian & USA Audience that they should listen the music from their ear/heart not from their eyes. Its very important to show respect to the appropriate singers.

There is absolute no doubts that Amanat is the best. Because he is only the great versatile singer and the heart of SAREGAMAPA. Among the singers he has only the great unique voice. His voice reminds nobody except himself. On the other hand if you carefully look at another singers like Aneek, Musaarrat, Raja their voice reminds you the singer like Sonu Nigam, Nusrat Fateh Sahab, Shukvinder. Yes Junaid, Poonam has also their own voice but they are not up to the level of Amanat. Truth is always bitter.
