I agree with Vishal&Shekhar..this is a competition to pik the best singer, and versitalty should be part of it. The issue with Mauli isnt that she picked the wrong song, but that she is not a good singer, period. she was not capable of making the song her own.
Amanat on the other hand, who i think is the best singer on the show, will be able to succeed at trying something new (like rock) because he has the voice skills to do it.
I have no idea why the judges are so hell-bent on defending Mauli..if she is a bad singer that’s all there is to it - dont’ make excuses for her.
And the best male singer award goes to…….. Mauli Dave!!!!

I totally agree with VS that versatality should be part of selecting the best singer be it Mauli or anybody else. Only carrying the previous performance fame is not going to help. One needs to consistenly perform like Aneek, Raja and Amanat.

The most exciting and very much appreciated and excellent episode ever I seen. Very talented singers and I think almost all of them done great job except Mauli. For Mauli, “SUR HAI NA TAAL HAI”. This is really enough now for Mauli’s fans to realise that they’re supporting a very ordinary and dull singer. She proved that she can only sing a very few songs like Mayya Mayya type or some other club tracks. Mussarat, you were fantastic and ofcourse Amanat, great performance, a complete pacakage of singing has been shown by him. Raja as usual great and ofcourse Aneek & Poonam were great too. No doubt every singer have great potential but this time again we have seen some partial activities from BL & HR. BL, (he took it seriously when all mentors gave 5 points to Mauli and not praised that much specially ID & VS) so BL, please stop defending for Mauli, BL should realise that not only Mauli is her participant but all the contenders are also including in his bench as ID & VS intend to for all the capable singers and they really appreciate them without any personal feelings involved in it. and they need his support too. So please BL & HR dont be overestimate about Mauli They’re trying to come up with racism and this will be dangerous. A good guru should always take care all the impartial activities during justification of any performance. You guys should know that voting is only done by SMS & Landlines in India so obviously India is a big country but do you think that they will support oversease competitors? No way, I dont think so because I think this is not the right way to choose winner of SRGMP 2007 Challenge. This is not Indian Idol and the way of choosing right top singer should be based on top impartial mentors who can judge very nicely. The public voting will surely take negative effect to overease contenders. Right? Sorry guys I dont agree with this public voting system because this is the show of India, Pakistan and oversease. Obviously people would prefer to vote for their regional contender.

mauli i suggest that you leave sa re ga ma pa before you become a nasal imitation like Himesh Reshimmaya. If you leave now then you won’t be in every show and movie known as himesh reshim may the only reason you are in is because all the people from your state that are voting. mauli i really hope you look at this advice. i tell you this because i care about you………YOU STINK!! You can only sing one song Mayya mayya. not even other item songs. I’m sure everyone has heard of the king who turned everything gold by touching it. well everything you sing turns into an item song. Every body is talking about Amanat and Mussarat’s performances of last episode. Agreed they definitely had sung perfect. But no body has said much about Raja’s performance. I made a comparison of his effort with original song sung by 6 singers, Sukhwinder, Alka, Udit, Shaan, Shankar Mahadevan and Kishore Gowrikar. And I think he never let down AR Rehman’s great work. He was on the SUR and TAAL all the time. Only thing that was missing was the variations of voices by the six of singers, which is never possible by one singer. Most of all listen to the variations of the PITCHING and THROW, were exactly same as the original one.
OH MY GOSH… he is definitely a blessed one… If AR Rehman will listen to this performance of Raja, he will definitely be happy to work with this boy…..

Mussarrat, Amanat, Raja were the best,I totally disagree with HR that Mauli needs to be given some more chances, It is time for Mauli to pack her bags and take the next flight to US, I cannot imagine a good singer being out bcoz of her. This is w.r.t Mauli’s performance this week specifically on the 14th of July.
She sang extremely well, not once going away from the “sur”. I don’t understand the judges comments on her that her voice does not suit Indian songs. What more are they expecting from her? They have to commend the fact that inspite of repeately being downrated by VS, she is continuously performing well. How many singers on this team are doing what she is doing?
I am sure that she is a star that will shine very soon. I guess her the group she is in is not very good. Her own mentor said that her song selection was not good. What was he doing for 1 week before she sang that song? Why did he not stop her from singing that song and choosing something else instead of making a mockery of himself and the poor girl?
Not sure if she would see this, but just felt like telling ..
Mauli keep the faith! I am sure there a lot of people, like me, that support you. Like they say on the show itself, this is just the beginning and not the end. Even if you do not get selected keep the faith. You have a beautiful voice and an even better personality!

as far as i know music , mauli was out of ’sur’……her voice is suitable for only item songs….not for romantic o, classical or sad songs…………..she should sing only item songs if she wants to remain in comp…

Did u hear her sing churaliya???? she fucked up a totally beautiful romantic song and in the end it sounded like a nasal item number. there was absolutely no softness in her voice, no soulfullness… nada. i was actually waiting for her to stop… when a so called performer doesnt please the audience its high time he or she goes which is totally her case.
I liked Mauli’s latest performance. It was sounding different but she managed it pretty well. It felt even Shamita Shetty liked what she heard. Agreed it may not be a perfect pick for her, but it was pretty good. I guess just because there was way too much variation in voice tone, than the orignal song lot of people dont like it. She made the song her type and did a good job. Per judges Shekhar an Vishal versatile singer is the one who can make others song theirs and try and sing in their way, I would say Mauli is very versatile in that case.

A song which amanat performed is non-filmi song, its from a pakistani band call fuzon i think, shafqat amanat ali is a origanal singer for this song.

Mussarat is the best singer as far as talent is concerned, the variation, the voice quality, the pitching and unbelievable control on high scale makes him unique and great. Raja and Amanat are good too but may not have the range like Mussarat. I would say Mussarat and aneek are the top contenders. and Mussarat deserves to be the final winner.

For those of you who show no sympathy towards Mauli should be ashamed of themselves. You are not the one performing on the stage, so dont be so critical of her. Yes, that was no a good song choice, and that was her bad day, but everyone has BAD DAYS!!!! Mauli has so much potential, and she knows now to stick with whats shes comfortable with.

Bappi Lahiri - I think BL is the cause for Mauli’s bad performnace. He is her guru. Why is he not doing anything to polish her performance ? If she is his star “sakeeera” he should groom her well. It is Mauli’s loss that she is stuck with a no-good guru.

There are some people who appreciates mouli in all possible ways, they talk about her versatility, but what kind of this versatility when it produces such noise, what she was doing in taal se taal mila.. leave score one side, even the expressions on judges faces were depicting mouli performance.
As ismail darbar sadi that world champion selected should be worth for this position and i beleive that raja, aneek & amanat are the top contenders.

I think one thing is very clear here. ID and HR are planning some khichdi with Mauli…an album or some tracks in a movie or maybe the baseball stadium tour…God Knows. But that seems to be the reason for them to promote her and make sure that she is in the final’s. I think this is a travesty and extremely unfortunate.
One thing is clear that good singing talents suffer a lot in India. I think this kind of Bias introduces more problems for “poor” singers…Pls. boycott ID and HR in the future for indulging in such shenanigans…Do it the Gandhigiri way. A layman may not know much about the techinicities of the sur/taal etc, but they just appretiate what they feels good to hear.. and So Mauli is loved by all.. All of you who claim to be real masters of music.. juts go back to basics and learn to appretiate others.. be it Mauli or Raja.

To be fair.. if you are a great learner of music and you think all 13 are good… you know nothing about music. Many of them are bad, what about Joy, Nirupama to name a few. They are worst than Mauli.
The truth is you just observe how mauli makes her face while singing, not her singing and feel jeleous of her.. just because no one wants to listen to your ragas.

This is a competition for who is the best singer, so better stop the hungry needing food philosophy (aka emotional drama). Audience wants quality singing from quality singers. Talk about a Mauli War.
Personally I think she’s good at singing her element (songs like No Entry and Mayya Mayya) but other than that she does more acting and dancing on the stage and expects people to love her for it. Not only that, the manner in which she holds herself makes her come across as very arrogant.
Anyway, on to the REST of the eppy.
Vishal and Shekhar’s showcase of Cash was cool. I happen to love the music for that song…very different and catchy music score. They sang well, although Vishal’s attempts at dancing in some points did make me chuckle. Poor Shekhar looked rather awkward in the very beginning when they were both introduced; Vishal was striking a pose and Shekhar was just standing there. One of the movies I want to see this summer, definitely. Just for the action and stuff.
Shamita Shetty and Dia Mirza, huh? Well it goes without saying that Shamita did little to nothing productive on the show. Dia on the other hand was frickin awesome. She actually spoke like an educated judge (better than Bappi and Himesh in most cases) and actually stood up for the contestants, specifically towards the end with that huge arguement about versatility. (I believe she was on V&S side, am I correct? At the end of the show she was talking to Shekhar in this very reassuring manner.)
And speaking about the whole ‘Versatility’ Arguement, Himesh is a frickin moron. The fact that he feels versatility is unimportant would explain why we are subjected to his redundant moaning song after song. Being versatile is what being a singer is all about! Singers like Sunidhi Chaun and KK (<3) aren't widely acclaimed for one type of singing style! Sunidhi can vary from Beedi (Omkara) to Mere Haath (Fanaa) while KK can do the same from Kya Mujhe Pyaar Hai (Woh Lamhe) to Dus Bahane (Dus).
Himesh must be speaking from experience. He is despised by most of the music community because of HIS INABILITY to display even a shred of versatility. I support Vishal and Shekhar’s point of view 100%. Himesh can just go jump off a cliff.

Quite on the contrary, Ismail barely does much of anything. He keeps it clean (most of the time) but I wouldn’t say its on par with V&S judgements. He just looks bored as if he’s watching grass grow, doodling on that sheet of paper in front of him and just waiting for the whole charade to end. Funny, yes, but not exactly helpful.
