Review of 28th July Episode of Saregamapa Challenge 2007
In Yesterday’s Episode we saw the elimination of Nirupama Day. Today is performance day and lets see what our Final 11 contestants have done…
Group Performance:
Aditya Narayan along with other contestants sing the title song of Hey Baby because today’s guests are Vidya Balan who is the actress in this movie and Shajid who is the producer of this film.. As they complete the performance, the guests enter the stage..
Shajid says this show has a very good standard and all contestants are doing really well.. He also adds the top four MDs of the industry are here.. Lets give them applause.. All applaud for the MDs..
Vidya Balan says she is happy to be here.. Vishal asks her to say “Good Morning Mumbai” in the same style as she said in LRMB.. She does so..
Aditya says Vidya has always been associated with Zee.. She started her career with this tv with Hum Paanch serial and asks how she is feeling now to be part of this show.. She says, she has always been following this show without fail and likes this show a lot..
The promo of the movie is shown then.. Aditya asks both Shajid and Vidya about the movie.. Vidhya says she makes all the men cry in the movie but its fun and hope audience enjoy the movie.. Shajid says “Saare mard kamine hote hain” and they are made to cry because of Vidhya..
Today’s Theme - Today all the contestants will sing the songs of their favorite singers
First to perform Hit Squad:
Junaid’s favorite singer is Sonu Nigam and he says he follows Sonu and that is why he is his favorite singer.. sings Yeh dil deewana from Pardes.
Comments:
Vidhya – I liked the energy.. sarcastically says I think technically Shajid will say..
Shajid asks Junaid What was the third line you sang? Junaid sings the line.. Shajid says yes that was good one.. If your CD comes out, I will buy and one more thing is I am going to say this for all the contestants
HR – I would want to give you 10, but you made some mistakes in the Anthra.. Would give you 8.5.. Himesh wonders whether to give 8 or 9.. Shekhar then asks, if he can give.. Himesh says yes.. Shekhar presses 9.
ID – You sang well.. gives 8
Bappida – If you had sung the low notes properly, you would have done better.. Gives 8..
To this comment Shajid says – “note this point of Bappida.. If you sing properly in low notes – producer will say – “Lo Notes”
Harpreet sings – Bheege hont tere from Murder..

Vidhya – Very good.. This is my favorite song and you got involved yourself in it..
Harpreet to Shajid – I always was afraid of you because you keep pulling everyone’s lets.. To which he says – you sang very well and much better than Kunal himself.. He said dont keep a zip like this in your pant from now on..
Bappida – There was some strain in the voice.. Gives 8
ID – Sang well, you could have done better.. gives 8
Himesh – You sang well and you are a very good human being too.. gives 9
Shekhar – You sang well but Sur ko sambhalna zaroori hain.. But today performance was mind blowing
Raja Hasan – HR before his performance asks Do You know you are the No.1 singer of this show? Raja says – its not big to be at No.1 but to maintain it like you do is difficult.. Shekhar says Raja is a star..
He sings Rut aa gayi re from earth and his favorite singer is Sukhwinder..

Shajid – You sang very well.. He asks why did you close your mouth after performance? That usually girls do.. He says “Rote huye aur haste huye main bura dikhta hoon” so to control that I closed my mouth.. Shajid says you are not only a good singer, but also a good lyricist.. You are next Hazrat Jaipuri of our industry.. He asks Vidhya Balan to do that which raja did.. she too closes her mouth and smiles
Vishal – I am really proud of you.. You sang very well..
Vidhya – You sang well.. showing little Nervousness is also good and that you showed..
ID – He asks Raja – “among the public truly tell me, who are your family members” he says the whole world is like his family.. gives 10
HR – you genuinely deserve 10
Bappida – There was some problem in the Anthra.. Shekhar gets up and goes near him.. Then Bappida says there was little trouble in the alaap, but you corrected.. Gives 10..
Vishal says this SRGMP is the best batch as they learn from all the mentors..
HR asks Raja what will you do if you win? he says till his last breathe, he would want to sing for this world.. He also asks what will you do for Rajasthan – he says they have done so much for me.. what will I do for them.
Shekhar says he is already a star
Next to perform Rock Gharna:
Mussarat’s favorite singer is Nusrat Fateh Ali khan sahab.. He sings Sanwre from Bandit Queen..
Comments:
HR comes on stage and says there is no sufi singer who can even touch him.. Bappida says we have one of the best sufi singer in our contest.. ID and BL both ask him to sing again.. He sings again..
Vidhya – When Nusrat sahab used to sing, he used to sing with ease, but they are difficult songs.. You too did the same.. You sang with ease
Shajid – “Jitna accha tumhaara kurta hain, utni acchi tumhaari awaaz hain”
Bappida after his performance, comes to stage and he gets blessings from him..
ID asks how much you want? He says give me more than I deserve.. He says he will definitely give 10 + 10..
Bappida – you are a very good singer.. gives 10
VS – We always talk about your versatility but when you sing like this, all arguments are put down.. Gives 10..
Shekhar says during 1996-97 when he used to be a participant, the contestants used to give very tough fight and today seeing Mussarat he remembered that.. He says this is one of his favorite song and so would want to sing a line.. So, he comes on stage and sings..
Joy’s favorite singer is SPB.. He sings Aaja Meri Jaan title song..

Shajid – I cannot say who will win this contest, but in my next movie you will definitely sing one song for me.. He also presents him a CD of Hey Baby
Vidhya – Shajid never praises anyone like this.. He did it for you.. You sang well.. was very nice..
Himesh says the director who has given the break for him is too good and he should be thankful for that..

ID – No question 10.. you have the quality of a playback singer..
Vishal says the way you have sung today was too good.. Those mistakes you made here, will not be seen while recording and the play back singers make more mistakes than this..
Himesh says, if it was someone else, he would have got 10.. Requests Bappida and VS to give 10.. They do so..
Shajid asks Aneek to make a promise and asks him to say “He will not wear this jacket again because this is not a jacket its a carpet”.. he does make a promise..
Only then Aditya says there are many female fans following for all the contestants, but the major female fan following is for Shekhar and there is a girl called Megan who is the biggest fan.. She is none other than our forum member Aphrodite He says where ever you go on internet and type Shekhar, there will be many videos available on Shekhar.. Shekhar thanks Megan for this and says he does not even deserve this.. Congrats Aphrodite Aka Megan
Next to perform Yalgaar Gharana:
Amanat sings Kuch mere dil ne kahaa from tere mere sapnay as his favorite singer is Hariharan.. Before his performance, he says he doesnt know how he will sing, Mussarat created a very good atmosphere here.. HR says you will do 1000 times better..

ID comes on stage and says he is a very neat and clean singer.. HR agrees to this..
To Vidhya Balan he says a sher praising her and telling her that she is very beautiful and when she goes to the mosque there are many who look at her..
Shajid – he says to his sher, he will also say something.. he says – Shyam jawan hain, magar uska baap major thaa
VS – Give you 10, you are going to become a very good singer..
Himesh – definitely 10
Bappida – We need good singers like you.. Gives 10..
Himesh says, the TRP of this show is too high.. There are lot of expectations from this show for the viewers.. People like you make the standard high..
Poonam sings tere hain baarati
Aditya asks it was as if you were going to get married, you sang so well.. Any plans for that? Poonam says she has lot of responsibilities towards her mother as she is also ill and wants her to get recovered soon.. Only then she can think of anything else..
ID says good you have realized your responsibilities, for what your mother has done for you – you will have to do something for her.. But after you become successful do definitely get married, that is what is the dream of all the mothers..
Aditya says we also caught up with her mother when she went to Lucknow recently.. An AV is shown.. She is first walking on streets and then enters her home.. Its too small and her mom is also sitting there.. She says we have had so many difficulties and her father passed away when she was not even born.. I had to sell bhutka’s on the road side for the livelihood.. Poonam then goes to the STD booth where she was working.. She says “I used to work here and used to get only 450 or 500 per month” but that was not even sufficient for the electricity bill we used to get..
Poonam then continues on stage that there is something she wants to share with all of us.. She says there was a day when they had no food at home.. It was around 1.30 in the night when she was very hungry.. Her mom had asked her to get money from the place where she worked but as she was a person who had lot of self respect she didnt want to go and ask as she had already got so much from them in advance.. It was almost 2-3 days that they had not had food.. Then there was little atta present at home and there was not even wood for burning the stove.. So, they burnt the papers and made a little roti out of it and ate.. That is one thing she can never forget..
Vidhya – she says you sang well.. Will pray that you be happy always and will pray for your mom’s recovery..
Shajid – My eyes were filled with tears and says “Jo apne maa k sewa karta hain, usko khudba khud madat mil jaati hain”
VS – You are a phenomenal singer.. You know what you have to do and you know what mistakes you have done.. Shekhar maybe wanted to give some other marks but Vishal says let it be Shekhar Give you 10..
Shekhar says you have a powerful voice..
Himesh – Gives 10
Bappida – He sings a song for her – Aana jana laga rahega dukh jayega sukh layega.. You will be one of the toppers.. gives 10

I have seen the episode of 28th July and want to say that the performance of Poonam was excellent.But what touched my heart was her life story and the poverty days that she has been through.Tears were rolling down from eyes and whatever she said in the episode has put a very deep mark on my heart.I have no sister and want Poonam to be mine sister because I feel if I had one sister it would have been exactly like her.I wish her all the very best for her and her mother and sincerly pray to God to bring happiness in their lives.Promise me Poonam you would never change even you become a big personality one day.

we (me, my parents, and sisters) are a huge fan of yours. u both are doing great but an advice 4 u….plz plz plz b very careful about selecting the songs coz janata like common songs….hard but common one okay. but we like all ur performance….u 2 always chosen tough one and done justice 2 them dats why we feel very proud. bye take care…ALLAH HAFIZ.
Musarat your best, you sang very difficult song with such a ease hats off. Raja your good but would you mind to sing some classical song so that you can be coampare with Amanat and Musarat. So far your winning hearts by your words not with your songs (sorry).
It’s one of the momorable episode in 2007 Challenge. Amanat, Junaid, Poonam, Mussarat & Sumedha have rocking performances. but I dont know this time I didnt find anything special in Raja’s performance and he s still not experiment any difficult or classical songs and stick on same track. Amanat sang very beautiful song, good choice and ofcourse he was perfect in sur and obviously Mussarat, he s no doubt great and perfect singer. He reminded me of Nusrat and I guessed that Nusrat is back again. Mind blowing performance by Poonam. She sang in sur. It was really very sad to know about her family story which is think a good example for the people to grow like this as she s doing hardships and workhard to establish her career by choosing singing as her career. She absolutely (Inshallah) will deserve very high ranks and fame in nearer future. Amin! Sumedha was again amazing. Yes, no doubt she has very sweet voice and now words to say. I dont like Aneek this time. He was over on sur and I think his starting alaap was not up to the perfect sur. He overtried it. Abhijit’s antara was very weak but overall he sang very well. Harpreet’s performance was not impressive but he tried very best to sing a very hard song of Kunal. Mauli, please dont insult Sunidhi’s best song as we’re dieing to listen them again and again and you spoiling our taste. Last time you spoiled Parde Main Rehne Do and now you spoiled Mast. You are insulting Alka, Sunidhi, Asha and I dont know how many others in your range. You see Mussarat reminded of Nusrat again because of his mindblowing performance and everyone liked it. Tell me you what was special in Mauli’s performance… the too revealing clothes she wears or the singing with no sur and taal. We want to see extra ordinary singing like Raja, Amanat, Aneek, Sumedha, Poonam and others are doing and also they performing well too as according to the singing but tell me what’s special in Mauli’s singing? No topic discussion please on it please because this is really meaningless to talk about crappy singer. Please people I just can request you to choose the right singer.
I think toppers can be following:
>>Amanat (Still no weakness found)
>>Raja (He needs to experiment a difficult and different song with quality sur and performance)
>>Poonam (She needs another performance with confidence to prove best singer)
>>Sumedha (She is doing well but needs more power and hardwork to remain best)
>>Mussarat (Need more performance like this to stay in the top 5)
>>Aneek (Need more different type of performance to show complete package of singing)
>>Junaid (He’s rockstar no doubt but to be in top 3 he has to work hard on singing as well because other competitors are more stronger than him till now)

I like to say straight forward some judge are not doing proper work.. Indian Sakira(maya maya is the one song rest all of meo meo)is not apt for Mouli.If you compare some of the better singer left the platform.yes Amanat(complete),Raja(cleaver with good heart),Aneek Punam Sumedha(any item song both of them can sing better than Mouli) and Mussarat I like to see them the in top.

Hats off to Mussarat. ‘Sanware…tore bin jiya jaye na’…It was one of the toughest song and he really sang it with ease. Mind blowing performance.
thos pakistanis are trained by high quality classical singer there thats why their base are very strong , u can see that in amanat and mussarat voice, tell me one performance where Amanat lost the plot?? i dont see any
why come that in india we dont have such “pakke sur” singer? or are we trying to imitate only playback singer like nigam udit sanu…??
No one can sing like you did Mussarat. Keep it up. It does not matter you win or lose you have your identy.
Abhijeet is the dark horse of this Competition, he is capturing the limelight day by day and he is going to be one of the toughest compititer.

When Mussarrat initially started singing in Saregamapa he was mind blowing but when he tried different songs he was not successful.In his last performance he was superb and unbeliavably good but when he was asked to repeat the performance he was not that good or flawless, as if all his energy has been exhausted.I think he is very nervous after he came in last three.I hope he does consistently good.
I am a great fan of saregamapa from Tokyo. I would like to say that one contestant who is being projected as Indian Shakira has no sign of shakira.Bappi lahri,her mentor has always stolen western tunes and projected like our original one.The same habit is going on here.His Indian Shakira is simply average and I would like to say nothing else. Her best performance was “mayya mayya” and rest are simply worst to say.Other female contestants can sing any item no.better than Mauli.

I totally agree with u prashant.I feel that mauli deserves no place.All other female singers are very good.i am loosing respect for the Gurus(forget about calling them Mahagurus now) as they allowed other good contestants to get eleminated at the cost of keeping the contestant from USA.(politics of saregamapa)i am from US but i respect music & every time i hear mauli sing,i feel someone is throwing stones & i do not know,how to react when bhappida(needs to grow up) & others call her performance fantastic!
i feel Poonam is a great versatile singer as well as Raja,Amanat,Aneek & mussarat
Amanat is definitely the best of the bests. He should be more careful about his selection of songs (I guess someone already mentioned that). He can sing any kind of song perfectly, so he should sing very popular but hard songs to get more votes. He’s singing better than Raja every time but still is not getting the highest numbers of votes.If he’s out before the final episode,then this show will definitely loose it’s best charm. I’d like to hear “Tu hi tu …. satrangi re ” of film Dil se in his voice.He’ll rock the show with it.
Raja is also great, but today’s performance did not touch the heart the way it always does.
Mussarat was simply outstanding. Today was definitely his night.
Poonam,Sumedha and Mouli – all the girls were fantastic as well. I would hate to see any of them leave by next episode.

I think there are two misfits in this final round.
1. Abhijeet – he is a good singer but somehow it seems he is forcing words out of chest while moving to next antara.
2. Mauli – hui hui hui main mast – she made it sound like whoooyeee whooooyeeee main maaast…I mean still she is getting away with perfect 10! This is the lone sore spot for this otherwise phenomenal show.
Never seen so much talent together at one stage not even in previous Saregamapas.

MAULI was shouting instead of singing.AMANAT,MUSSARAT,ANEEK,RAJA,SUMEDHA TOO GOOD.JOY must improve to be there in next round.
Alright Lay off on Mauli you guys, shes probablly a better singer then the rest of you are, and i think shes’s got some flare, she does things differently, its not your typical ” blah blah bla” that all the others can do. all of you need to relax and stop hating on the poor girl
I think all of the remaining contestants are pretty good. There are a few exceptional ones out of this entire list. They are as follows:
1. Amanat
2. Anik
3. Mussarat
4. Raja
5. Poonam
The ones left out from the above list are good singers and have performed well some of the time, but definitely not all of the time.
Some suggestions to the show producers regarding the upcoming “Maha Gurus”:
1. Dev Anand & Dilip Kumar (Songs from 50s and 60s)
2. Lataji – She is so great that she can’t share the stage with anyone else. (Obviously all songs from Lataji)
3. Rajesh Khanna & Sharmila Tagore (Songs from their films)
It is already determined that the songs from 50s/60s/70s are the best songs that have been written, composed, and sung in the history of Indian cinema. Why not continue to showcase these songs with the formats suggseted above.

hi ya. this is yasa from London… i am a very keen listener of that show…and would like to share some of me thoughts with all of u…..
As far as the show is concerned it is the best among all.. i dont wanna comment on voting but would definitely like to give a literal verdict on all the singers of that show…
Amanat… (He is really cool.. Why?.. cuz he dont copy anyone….He got his own rhythm, style, variation…. He is totally awesome…. He got his own identity…. He can sing a song with any variation and pitch…. I hope every good listener should vote for him regardless of boundaries where he came from.. He is a clean singer with tremendous voice quality..)
Mussarat…. (What should i say about him… if sofism and folk comes he is definitely the best choice….As Nusrat Fateh is no more he could easily fill the gap…We cannot compare him with that gr8 singer but remember Nusrat spent all of his life in singing….As Mussarat is concerned he got a divine pitch in his voice….. not a single contender in this show or any of the show could match his pitch….He is awesome in his genre…..and definitely Sanware is the one of the best song sung by any contender in any of the music show…..he is flawless……I personally would love to vote for him…)
Joy….(Got a good voice quality but honestly speaking he should not make up to the final 5….If he is then its gonna be bad luck for every other singer in this competition…..He is good but he got to leave the show now. cuz he dont match any other in the show.)
Aneek Dhar…..(Real Gem…For his age he is really good and will be polished more in the days to come… got good verstality… but he got to stop copyin Sonu cuz he cant match him at any cost…if u are a playback singer u have to have ur own singing style…. as producers spend too much in their movies why would they like him to sing for them instead of Sonu…..cuz Sonu is untouchable….. Annek got to make his own identity….. if he wins he wont be able to put his mark on audience…. So according to me he got to be more careful in his new song….)
Junaid…..(Although he wont win the competition but he will definitely be a big star….Pop suits him…. He could easily sell good music…. he got looks and everything….. So in otherwords we can say that he is a full package… And i like his performances as he looks to be a show grabber…. He gonna rock in the days to come for sure…..)
Raja….(Good voice quality…Nice singer….but have the singing style which matches many of the contemporary singers…. they all are singing well but remain for a small time….. say 5 to 6 years…..as i mentioned earlier every singer should have his own identity but i never saw his identity… He got to sing more difficult and classical songs to be more competent…. He could win that show but if he stick to the same style then sorry mate u got to go…. Make your own style… cuz u cant live more doing copy….)
Mauli….(She got a good quality for certain songs…. but she cant be suniti cuz suniti knows how to sing… and mauli dont…. Mauli just got some hype… otherwise she dont deserve to be here…. She got to go now)
