As Zee TV’s ‘Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge 2007′ enters in the new round this Friday, there will be a change in Maha gurus. Earlier round saw Ashaji and Ghulam Ali as Maha Gurus but from this Friday this place will be shared by renowned composers Rajesh Roshan and Khayyam (Mohammed Zahoor Khayyam Hashmi). Khayyam sahab is well known for the melodious music for ‘Shola Aur Shabnam’, ‘Kabhie Kabhie’, ‘Umrao Jaan’ and ‘Bazaar’. While Rajesh Roshan is known to newer generation for the hit music of Hrithik Roshan’s Kaho Na Pyar Hai. His other films are Julie (1975), Mr. Natwarlal. He is the first music director who made superstar Amitabh Bachchan to sing in Mr. Natwarlal.
Khayyam sahab says about this show “The show is a good opportunity for young singers of this generation. It encourages them and provides them worldwide exposure. Plus, they will be mentored by established singers. ”
He comments on the music scenario saying , “People are learning new forms of music. I am not against the trend. I respect all forms of music. However, people should keep a good balance between classical and mortal kind of music. Today, music is the best form of art and it should be free of vulgarity unlike how it is being projected these days.”
Khayyam continues, “My songs touched people and moved them to tears. Often listeners would weep while hearing the song ‘Dekhlo aaj humko’ from ‘Bazaar’. Even today, people get emotional. My songs were a hit in days when there was no promotional might.” He adds, “Even today, people seek solace from the song ‘Kabhi kisiko mukammil jahan nahin milta’ that I composed for ‘Ahsita Ahista’.”

The Saturday’s episode was Ashaji last episode on the saregamapa challenge 2007. In these few episodes she shared her knowledge with contestants but the elimination of Sarika Singh somehow left a bitter feeling amongst many. It is still a question on what basis Sarika was eliminated.
When it comes to the judgement, we all respect Ashaji’s point of view but still there are some facts that need clarifications.
1. All the Mentors liked Sarika’s both performances and she got the most praises from the Gurus and Ashaji herself.
2. When we consider the last episode (26th May), Sarika’s performance is far better than others. While Ashaji gave valuable advices to other contestants, she didn’t bother to correct Sarika Singh.
3. Most of the people think that Jyoti should be eliminated as her first performance (before Ashaji’s coaching) was not good and even Ashaji wasn’t pleased with her performance.
4. Its little strange that Ashaji’s farewell was held before the ‘Girl’s result’. Ashaji should be there to clarify on what basis Sarika was eliminated.
Anyway, still mentors have the Brahmastra where they get to choose one of the contestant who was eliminated, and hope they will bring back Sarika Sing.
In the last Friday’s episode, we saw Sikander Ali of Josh Gharana and Nirupama of Rock Gharana got the green light. In today’s episode (Saturday, 26th May) the rest of the contestants will be performing and two contestants will be eliminated. Also this is Ashaji’s last episode as Maha Guru and also last episode of Round One. Watch video of this episode here
The episode starts with the performance of Aditya, Nirupama and Sikander on the song Rock n Roll soniye from KANK. Aditya then greets the audience and says “Guru have always been with the contestants and their blessings are there with them”
Himesh’s AV is shown where he says he had to go for Aap ka suroor shooting for two days and will be not be available for this episode. Ashaji then says he has gone but left the soul in the cap which she gives it to Shekhar. Shekhar comes gets Ashaji’s blessings and gets the cap.. He keeps the cap in front in the table and says “Jai matadi lets rock”

ID – very good improvement Shekhar – Tries to imitate Himesh, Aashique banaya aapne song is played in the background when he tries to imitate.. He holds the mike in Himesh style.. then says – “I will be back to original” and says – It was tremondous improvement Vishal – Gaane mein kami thi, Could have done better.. Bappida – Good improvement
Ashaji – before Reecha’s performance, she says be confident and just involve Your self in the song and after performance she says, you kept my advice with you while singing.

Vishal - Wasi is good singer, but today was not his best.. Jothi is not getting involved in song Shekhar – There was no throw in the song.. Bahut dabi dabi si gaati hain aap Bappida - You are not singing with a feel.. For Wasi he says he has to still improve ID - You have performed in same way like I expected.. Will take Jothi far and in 4 years will make her a star..
Ashaji then tells to Jothi how to sing.. She says you are not giving the throw, no feeling at all.. She says the same lyrics you can sing in anyway.. You can make it sad, romantic or Cabaret..
For each one of them she gives an example of how to sing.. Then Jothi requests that she will sing again.. Vishal objects that judgement should be based on previous performance.. Ashaji says, this is only to make her understand the mistake.. Then Jothi again sings and she was better this time.. ID and everyone enjoy her performance.. Shekhar says in just 4 minutes, there is a tremendous improvement.. ID says, this world is round and will take time to come around this world that is why i said 4 years.. I will make her great star.. Ashaji says, no one makes anyone star.. God makes the person a star and sends..

Vishal – Sarika performed very well.. May be the style which Sunidhi took, the same you had taken – so a little bit of out of sur.. otherwise it was fine.. Says VS both are happy to have her in the gharana.. Though Shekhar is now in place of Himesh, he is happy.. Shekhar then wears the cap of Himesh and then takes out and says he is proud of her.. For Imran they both are disappointed and Vishal says probably he is out of the contest
Bappida – Sarika was really good.. ID – Howmuch ever well she cooks, she is that good singer.. Vishal objects saying he has not yet had the food, ID says he had it and it came to him
Ashaji – Sarika because of singing in one style, she lost the actual throw in the song..
Vishal – sings the song in different style and says the energy you needed, you have provided.. ID – you are great performer Bappida – If i get a chance, will make you to sing in anyone film of mine Shekhar – Great performance.. Himesh would be happy..
Ashaji says she is very happy and she was dancing while he sang.. Shekhar says if Himesh was here, he would have said – “Tumhe roti zaroor milegi” Ashaji also says it along with shekhar

Imran is out among boys.. He sings Pardesi pardesi jaana nahin while leaving.. Shekhar says he will come back with a bang
Farewell for Ashaji
Aditya gets the farmaan from Ashaji and calls her on stage.. All the mentors also come on to the stage to give the farewell for Ashaji..
ID sings Hum dil de chuke sanam.. VS sings the song for which they got the RD Burman award and that was dil ne tumko chunliya hain.. Bappida sings Asha didi we love you.. Ashaji then sings mere sona re sona for all and leaves the stage..
Among girls Sarika is out and all the mentors are against the judgement.. VS say she is much better singer but do not agree with judgement and that its wrong.. ID and Bappida too agree with this that it was wrong judgement..
Sarika is upset and gets unconscious.. She is then carried by all of them away from the stage…We hope she will get well soon
Here are videos of 8th Episode (26th May) of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge 2007. This episode will be remembered for its controversy over elimination of Sarika Singh of Hit Squad. According of Ashaji, Imran Aslam Mohammad from South Africa and Sarika Singh from India(both from Vishal Shekhar’s Hit Squad) get eliminated from the show but all the judges disagree with the judgment over Sarika. According to them she is better singer than other.
Sikandar Ali from Pakistan gets the best gift on the set of Saregamapa Challenge 2007. After Sikander finishes performance, Aditya asks “Unko kiska intzaar hain”, he says his wife.. There is a gift for Sikander.. He is shown his wedding photographs which he himself has not yet seen. Sikandar got married on 3rd April and then he had to come to India from the Challenge 2007 and he couldn’t see his marriage photos. But now he must be very happy after seeing these photos
This is the 7th episode of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge 2007 (Watch Videos of this episodes here). And this is the last week of ‘Round 1’. In each week of round 1, two contestants from each Gharana perform on the stage and at the end of week two contestants who don’t perform up to the mark get eliminated from the Challenge 2007.
The show starts with the cute Aditya Narayan who welcomes all the Magical Mentors who start with their Gharana saga and also welcomes Maha Guru Asha Bhosaleji. (This will be the last week of Ashaji as a Mahaguru).

Aditya reveals some facts about Bappida. Actually, Bappida’s real name is ‘Alokesh Aparesh Lahiri’ and he has given music for almost 500 films. It’s nice to see this legendary singer and composer rememorizing his past memories. He and Ashaji sung duet song Raat Baaki from Namak Halal (and Ashaji gave him 20/20 numbers) (I love this song very much). And then Aditya requested Ashaji to sing the Rangeela Re song (But the way Aditya sung his part was really funny).

Shekhar – Voice quality is very good for both of you.. You have improved a lot.. Himeshji – Sarika sang really good infact she was mindblowing.. Imran needs to improve a lot.. Ismailji – Sarika gave an excellent performance. Regarding Imran he said to Vishal that he told them that he is coming and he is such a great singer and all that and when he came it is like “Khoda Pahad aur Nikla Chuha”. Vishal replied back by saying he was the best in Johannesburg but his today’s performance not even one tenth of what she presented that day. Bappida – Sarika’s song touched his heart but Imran really needs to improve to remain in the competition.
Ashaji – For Sarika she said when she sang anthra her high notes were shaky and whole sang overall looked out of place. She even asked all the gurus to comment if she was wrong. Vishal and Shekhar argues on it and Ashaji says if she would have sang one scale lower she could have performed better.

HR – He feels situation is such that he doesnot want to comment anything. He leaving comments on Bappi Da.
Bappida – To Wasi he said if he is singing “zid na karo ab to ruko” he needs to sing with lots and lots of feelings he just cant sing plain. For Jyoti she got nervous.
Ismailji – He asked Jyoti why she got nervous. Jyoti replied that she got nervous thinking of all the people before she singing and Ashaji is sitting in front of her and the mere thought made her nervous. Ismail tried to console her and bring the confidence back by saying everyone here has started with the level where she is here today.
Ashaji says that even today when she goes on stage to sing she feels nervousness and her hands are all shaky and sweaty. She backed up Jyoti by saying her nervosness will go away with time.

Hearing this Sikander gets emotional and gets tears.. he says he didnt want to cry as the make up will get spoiled and he wanted to take a photograph with Asha tai.. Aditya consoles him says he will get a make up man for him again..
Ashaji then comments and says – “Jo Jeeta Wahi Sikandar”
ID asks – “Sikander bhai kaise ho” for which he replies – “Alla ki reham se maa ki dua se Public ki demand se tip top”
